Bei der Erfindung handelt es sich um einen außen am Kühlgerät angebrachten Temperatursensor, der die Umgebungstemperatur misst. Das Messergebnis wird einer Steuerungseinheit zugeführt, die den Energieverbrauch des Kühlgerätes vorhersagt. Diese Vorhersage kann erfolgen, da der Energieverbrauch bei Kühlgeräten vorwiegend durch die Stillstandsverluste bestimmt sind. Diese sind abhängig von der Umgebungstemperatur. Durch das Vorhersageergebnis wird die Energieabnahme für das Kälteaggregat voreingestellt. Abhängig vom verwendeten Kälteaggregat kann somit das Schaltprofil so gewählt werden, dass dieses nur bei einer bestimmten Leistung mit maximalem Wirkungsgrad betrieben wird. Dazu kann es sinnvoll sein sowohl die Leistung wie auch das Verhältnis von Laufzeit bzw.
