Description

The invention relates to a device with the help of which nails of different thicknesses can be hammered into walls, panels, cupboards, etc. and pulled out if they are bent.

Different pliers or fingers are traditionally used to hammer in and pull out nails. The disadvantage here is that the left hand (right-handed people!) has to perform two functions at the same time: on the one hand, it has to press the nail firmly using the pliers (clamp it), and on the other hand, the same hand has to bring the nail into the desired driving position, i.e. the hand holding the nail has to be brought to the driving height in a tense state. Furthermore, the pliers often cover the usually precisely fixed driving point. If no pliers are used to hold the nail, but only your own fingers, the risk of injury (especially with small nails) is very high. It must also be noted that different types of pliers often have to be used to hammer in and pull out nails. The invention specified in claim 1 and the subclaims is based on the basic problem of creating a device with which nails can be safely hammered in and pulled out. Both small and large nails should be able to be driven in easily and safely, even in hard-to-reach positions. Furthermore, half-driven nails, for example those that are bent, should be able to be pulled out without great difficulty. The device should

be light and above all guarantee safe handling. The device should also be designed so that the impact point is as clearly visible as possible. These tasks are solved by the nail holding and nail pulling device with the feature of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are described in the subclaims.

The invention means that nails of different thicknesses can now be driven in without any problem. The clamping strip c and the wedge-shaped chamber a serve this purpose; small nails, for example in inaccessible driving positions, can find a hold in the clamping strip c. In these cases, the long, tapered nose of the device (IV) proves to be particularly advantageous.

The small nail can be clamped between the vertical inner walls of the clamping strip c.

Once the nail to be driven in has the required hold or has been driven in far enough, the device is simply reset (on the wall, etc.), the nail is then free and can be driven in further if necessary (see Fig. 4).

Larger nails can be held in chamber a in particular; to do this, the nail is clamped in the wedge-shaped chamber a until it has the necessary hold (see Fig.3). The nail can now be driven in safely; once it is firmly seated in the given &ogr; material, the device is simply pulled forwards or backwards.

If the nail has become bent due to a failure, it can be pulled out using the chamber b; to do this, the nail is clamped in the wedge-shaped chamber (b); the nail head protruding from the opening (see Figure 5) gives the nail the necessary hold. The nail is then pulled out by tilting the device (Fig. 5). The necessary effect is achieved by the leverage (lever arm).

In order to keep the wall etc. as undamaged as possible during this process, the rounded edge d was added; this also makes it easier to tip over when pulling out the nail.

The outer ring (I) has two functions: firstly, it serves to hold the tool in place, fingers at risk from a hammer blow are kept at a safe distance from the nail itself, and secondly, it also protects the wall etc. into which the nail is to be driven; if, for example, the hammer misses the nail head, the force of the hammer blow is reduced by the plastic ring (I), protecting the surface, e.g. the wall.

In order to make the device as light and break-resistant as possible, it should be made of unbreakable plastic.

The device can be held comfortably with one hand (see handle III). It advantageously combines two functions: nails can be driven in easily and safely, but can also be pulled out quickly.

The user of the device can concentrate fully on hammering in a nail precisely; this also greatly reduces the risk of injury.

Figure 1 shows the device from above. The nail holding and nail pulling device consists of an outer ring I, an elongated inner part (II) tapering towards the front (inside the outer ring I), an elongated nose IV tapering towards the front and a handle &Igr;&Pgr; .

The clamping strip c , which runs through the middle of the device from the tip of the nose d to the inner part II, is designed primarily for smaller nails; these can be easily clamped here right up to the inner part II. The elongated nose (IV) enables the device to be used in angular, difficult to access positions. The wedge-shaped chamber a is directly connected to the clamping strip c ; it also runs through the middle of the device and continues directly into chamber b. Chamber a is a triangle that opens towards the back, towards the handle (III). It is intended primarily to hold medium-sized and larger nails; these are pushed lengthwise forwards (towards the tip of the nose d) until they are clamped sufficiently to be hammered in. So that the outer ring I can achieve its protective effect, point e (the turning point from the clamping strip c to the

Chamber a) below the upper connection towards the outer ring I. Chamber b is directly connected to chamber a; together the two chambers a and b form a kite. Chamber b, like chamber a and the clamping strip c, is located in the middle of the device (longitudinal axis). Chamber b is primarily intended for levering out half-driven, crooked nails from walls, etc. On its own, chamber b forms an open triangle facing towards the tip of the nose. The drawing also makes it clear that the clamping strip c, chamber a and chamber b run through the device in the order c, a, b in the middle (coming from the tip of the nose d). Figure 1 also shows that the inner walls of the clamping strip c and of chambers a and b run vertically from top to bottom (in cross section).

The device is closed at the bottom by handle III; this encloses chamber b at the front and is rounded at the end.

Figure II shows the device from the side. It can be seen that the device has the same height (thickness) with the exception of the nose IV. In the nose area (IV) - from the outer ring I - the device becomes evenly narrower towards the nose tip d. This is to enable the use of small and very small nails. Figure 2 also shows that the front lower edge of the nose tip d is rounded. This is to help protect the surface of the wall etc. when levering out nails (see Fig. 5).

The handle III is curved upwards behind the chamber b. This is intended to make the device easier to handle.

Figure 3 shows the device in use. A nail is placed upright in chamber a; the user of the device can now drive the nail in with a hammer. If the user misses the mark, the outer ring (I) protects the surface of the wall etc. from possible damage.

When the nail has sufficient hold, the device is simply pulled forwards. The nail can then be hammered in completely.

Figure 4 shows the device in use with a small nail. Clamping strip c holds the nail upright. Once the nail has been driven in far enough, the device can simply be pulled back. The drawing shows an extreme application; the small nail can be driven in even in very inaccessible positions (corners, for example). Your fingers are not in danger.

Figure 5 demonstrates the extraction of a crooked, half-driven nail. To do this, the nail head is clamped in chamber b. The nail is then pulled out of the wall etc. using leverage (see direction of arrow). In order not to damage the wall etc., the nose edge d has been specially rounded off at the bottom (see also Fig. 2).

Device for holding nails when hammering them into various materials, e.g. walls, etc., and for pulling out crooked, half-hammered nails from walls, etc., characterized by an annular outer part (I), a nose (IV) with clamping strips c, an inner part (II) with two wedge-shaped chambers a and b for clamping the nails, and characterized by a permanently attached handle (III). 2. Nail holding and nail pulling device according to claim 1, characterized in that the device has a clamping strip c for clamping a nail, which extends from the nose tip (IVd) of the device to the chamber a (II). 3. Nail holding and nail pulling device according to claim 2, characterized in that the inner walls of the clamping strip c run vertically from top to bottom in cross section. 4. Nail holding and nail pulling device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the device has a slightly rounded edge at the bottom front (IVd) in cross-section (see Fig. 2). 14. Nail holding and nail pulling device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the device in cross-section in the front third (from outer ring I) becomes uniformly narrower towards the front (IVd) and in its rear third (III) is curved upwards (see Fig. 2). 15. Nail holding and nail pulling device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the device is made of impact-resistant plastic.
