Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method in which from waste sludges such as for example in textile, electroplating or tanning companies, highly active and mechanical thanks to thermal-oxidative treatment stable catalysts are made.
It is known that compounds, in particular oxides of the transition metals chromium, copper, cobalt, iron, manganese, vanadium, nickel, molybdenum and tungsten, perform a wide variety of reactions both in synthetic processes and in the purification of CO, organic substances, HKW or NO x Catalyze laden exhaust air. Usually, carriers consisting of Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , silicates, ZrO 2 or TiO 2 are impregnated with the transition metal compounds, so-called washcoats being applied to increase the activity. Such catalysts have become widespread in stationary plants, although their price is comparatively high.
It is also known to use dried sewage sludge as a sorbent in the exhaust air purification with its subsequent thermal implementation (DE 195 27 205 A1). However, this does not become a catalytically active material obtained and the sewage sludge must be in after the adsorption of the pollutants be disposed of in a waste incineration plant.
Several patents describe the extraction of highly enriched sludge by precipitation from waste water with the addition of valuable materials (SU 1155290) and (SU 1342524 A1) or their electrochemical refining (JP 54019467) or treatment with mineral acids (JP 53113291).
Petkewitsch et al. report in SU 1607910 A1 on the production of a Catalyst for removing carbon monoxide by burning Chromium-containing tannin sludge, but without further information on the tour of the combustion process. Jurovcak et al. report on the CS 261061 Representation of a catalyst from the waste sludge Cyclohexane oxidation. In order for the catalyst to take effect, up to 60% by mass of a catalyst support can be added. All these However, patents contain special solutions that consist of concrete Production process with the corresponding waste and Wastewater has arisen and sometimes for its realization non-process additives and additional Process steps that are energy-intensive or expensive, have to be spent.
It is therefore the object of the present invention to develop an environmentally friendly and cost-effective process in which a mechanically stable, highly active catalyst is obtained from waste materials without the additional use of valuable materials (fine chemicals) and thus the use of primary raw materials for catalyst production is avoided will. The catalyst is said to be able to be used for heterogeneously catalyzed synthesis reactions or for the purification of exhaust air laden with CO, organic substances, HKW or NO x .
This object is achieved by the method steps of the invention Claim 1 solved. The sub-claims 2-7 contain advantageous Refinements for implementing the method.
It has been shown that calcination of waste sludge, which are the transition metals chrome, copper, cobalt, iron, manganese, Nickel, vanadium, molybdenum and / or tungsten in a concentration of contain at least 0.5% by mass, based on the finished catalyst, and an organic matter content of at least 15% by mass of the total dewatered waste sludge have catalysts with on commercial products of comparable activity in the catalysis of Allow gas phase reactions to be obtained without complex Process steps carried out and valuable primary raw materials added Need to become. Such waste sludges fall, for example, in electroplating, Tannery and textile dyeing processes.
According to the invention, one or more such waste sludges are one of dependent on the composition of these waste sludges controlled (calibrated) temperature control in the range between Burnout and sintering temperature exposed, so you get on surprisingly simple way and without the required addition of said cost-intensive materials (fine chemicals) mechanically stable highly active catalysts. The composition of the Waste sludge dependent controlled temperature control is based on samples using suitable thermoanalytical methods predetermined (calibrated). Based on this calibrated temperature characteristic the selected and pretreated mass of waste sludge is calcined.
A type of sewage sludge meets the specified requirements regarding the content of transition metals or burnout organic matter not alone, so several waste sludges, preferably before dewatering, mixed for calcination in such a way that these requirements then apply to the entire mixture of waste sludge be fulfilled.
The process required to obtain the catalyst exists at least from the sub-steps of dewatering, crushing and calcining. The for Waste sludge to be used for catalyst production is initially mechanically, for example using a chamber filter press drain. The material to be pressed is then to be mechanically shredded. As It has proven to be particularly advantageous that the material to be pressed is not to grind completely, but only to break down to pellet size (0.1.. .4 cm). The resulting granulate is then subjected to thermal-oxidative treatment (Calcination) fed.
This can preferably be in the air flow in a rotary tube or Fluidized bed furnace or other system that has a defined and controlled temperature control enables to be carried out. It is to choose the calcination temperature so that on the one hand the possible complete burnout of the organic components reached, on the other hand that Sintering together of the resulting highly porous structure is avoided. Temperatures of. Have proven to be the most advantageous for the calcination 500.. .650 ° C, whereby "hot spots" are avoided in any case have to. If the waste sludge is high in organic burnable substance can therefore also by calcination increasing the temperature gradually or continuously, starting at starting organic burnout, below the sintering temperature respectively.
The granules obtained can then be used directly as a catalyst or through mechanical assembly such as extrusion to larger ones Aggregates are processed.
The invention is intended to be explained in more detail below on the basis of exemplary embodiments are explained, the properties of the in the exemplary embodiments designated samples (waste sludge) with their specific Treatment should be clarified in the drawing.

The catalytically active component in these waste sludges are Elements contain chrome, copper, nickel and iron, each in Concentrations that meet the requirement of the invention. Of the Loss on ignition was determined in the order of approximately 30% by mass.
Die Kennlinie ergab eine Ausbrenntemperatur von 500°C (Fig. 4).To determine the suitable calcination temperature, a sample was measured thermoanalytically / gravimetrically. The characteristic curve gave a burnout temperature of 500 ° C ( Fig. 4).
The dried raw sludge was mechanically reduced to a grain size of broken open about 2 mm and calcined at 550 ° C in the laboratory chamber furnace.
At a temperature of 550 ° C, a highly porous and sufficiently solid granulate is obtained, which has good catalytic activity ( Fig. 5 and 6).
The activity was determined up to 620 ° C. After this investigation could no significant surface loss can be found.
An Al 2 O 3 supported catalyst, doped with copper and chromium oxides (powder), served as a reference sample for comparing the catalyst parameters.
The measured specific surfaces remained with all Waste sludge samples even after the activity test up to 620 ° C receive.
Copper and chromium (electroplating and tanning sludge) or iron (textile sludge) are contained in these samples as catalytically active components. The added other waste sludges serve to increase the organic proportion of the raw sludge mixture (river sediment and sewage sludge) and as a strengthening agent (gravel washing sludge). The composition of the mixtures is given in Fig. 7.
Thermoanalytically could burn out temperatures for all mixtures 500 ° C can be determined.
The feedstocks were each dried and ground to <200 µm using a sieve ball mill. The test mixtures were prepared with the addition of water in a laboratory intensive mixer known per se. The granules obtained were dried on a pelletizing plate and then calcined in the laboratory chamber furnace at the temperature indicated in the diagram ( FIG. 8).
Die Festigkeiten dieser Proben lagen mit 0,1. . The strength of these samples was 0.1. . .2 N below those of the catalysts obtained from broken waste sludge. The same applies to the specific surface ( FIG. 8) and correlating to it, for the catalytic activity.
However, the almost powdery granules can be used mechanical pressing without further loss of surface and activity produce high-strength granules. When press pelletizing the electroplating / Tannery sludge mixtures using a laboratory press known per se cylindrical granules (3 mm ∅) with individual grain strengths of obtained an average of 115 N. The specific surface was retained. The granules are suitable as catalysts for rapid reactions therefore given, especially since the porosity with <40 nm in the area of the mesopores was measured.
All samples mentioned in the exemplary embodiments were characterized by OES / ICP and BET surface measurements and determinations of the individual grain strength. The activity behavior was investigated in a flow reactor in which the wall temperature of the reactor and the catalyst temperature were measured directly in the bed. The latter was used in the representations. The reaction of propane with air to carbon dioxide and water was used as a model reaction at space velocities of approx. 8000 h -1 . The selectivity was usually over 95%; as a side reaction, the formation of olefins was observed in some cases.
