Description

Vomiting is the most common complication after general Anesthetics. Mortality from aspiration is approx. 30 to 50% (Mendelson syndrome). Vomiting is also a common problem sliding symptoms in a variety of care situations, e.g. B. in the care of long-term sick or as complications tion of medication. The task for the nursing staff is to recognize vomiting as early as possible, first, to avoid aspiration, but second, in Meaning worthy care. This requires a time close control, which is very personnel-intensive.

There are currently no devices for the detection of the hereditary chens, d. H. to a kind of monitoring.

The invention has for its object to create a device fen monitoring a patient for the Allows vomiting to occur.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by the features of claim 1. The invention is based on the knowledge reasons that when vomiting is characteristic of the vomit cal substances are excreted, e.g. B. gastric acid, bile. Components of it spread in the ambient air and  can be detected there (specific smell). These components are detected with the help of a suitable sensor, in converted an electrical signal and turned into an alarm direction forwarded. This creates an optical and / or acoustic alarm.

The invention is based on one in the drawing, illustrated embodiment explained in more detail.

In the drawing, a patient 1 is shown lying on a table 2 . The patient 1 is assigned a sensor 3 which is connected to electronics 4 which controls a display unit 5 .

Vomit is a complex mixture with a wide range of variations, but is still easy to identify for any layperson. There are basically two options for detection using sensor 3 :

B. Salzsäure, die in Erbrochenem immer enthalten sind.- Specific sensors with high selectivity detect a few ( 1 to 3 ) basic substances, e.g. B. hydrochloric acid, which are always contained in vomit.
B. mittels Neuronaler Netze, ein Geruchsmuster als "Erbrochenes".- Non-specific sensor arrays with low selectivity, however wide range for different substances ("Electronic noses") detect an odor pattern and classify according to a training process, e.g. B. means Neural networks, an olfactory pattern as "vomit".

The sensor unit (sensor 3 ) and the alarm unit (electronics 4 and display unit 5 ) can be spatially separated and communicate by remote transmission (wired or via telemetry).

The device can also have an interface to the alarm forward, e.g. B. in the monitoring center. Furthermore, the device has an interface to a patient monitor system ben. In an expansion stage, the device can also be a semiquan titative evaluation (amount of vomit or probability that vomit) deliver to the nursing staff to give an indication of urgency. In addition can a microphone can be integrated using noise analysis recognizes characteristic gagging noises. The noise analysis  can be combined with the odor analysis to get the ver increase casualness.

As explained above, the display unit 5 can be designed to give an alarm and can be arranged in a monitoring center. The interface to a patient monitor system can be contained in the electronics 4 . The described evaluation can also be done by the electronics 4 . The microphone can be part of the sensor 3 , the noise analysis again being carried out by the electronics 4 .
