The invention relates to a reaction retort for generating Endogas with a to hold a catalyst filling serving, an inlet opening for introducing a gas mixture and an outlet opening for discharging the by means of the Kataly Sator filling from the gas mixture generated endogas Reaction container and one for heating the catalyst filling operable heater, one with such a reak tion retort provided furnace and a method for production of endogas using such a reaction retort.
Using a nickel catalyst can with a Reaction retort of the type specified above from a gas mixture, that is formed from natural gas and air in a ratio of approx. 1.0: 2.5 is, at a temperature of about 1000 to 1050 ° C in the range of the nickel catalyst from about 20 vol .-% CO, 40 vol .-% H₂ and essentially nitrogen and minor fractions CO₂, CH₄ and H₂O existing rest formed reaction gas be fathered. Such a reaction gas is, for example as an additive for a protective gas composition in an oven for Annealing of steels is required to attach the furnace atmosphere to the steel le, especially to adjust their carbon content. It is Please note that the protective gas has a hydrogen content of about 4 vol .-% is flammable and therefore an appropriate safe equipment for the oven is required. In this regard the hydrogen, for example, at the furnace inlet and / or off flare side as a flame curtain.
To avoid soot formation in the reaction retort the ratio of natural gas to combustion air in the to be implemented gas mixture so that for each Carbon atom an oxygen atom is available. Beautiful the slightest lack of oxygen in the gas mixture leads to one incomplete conversion of the carbon atoms to CO, which is a results in immediate soot formation. Hence the order usually under a slight excess of oxygen, which leads to the formation of correspondingly small amounts of CO₂ and H₂O.
As explained above, a reaction can cake of the type specified at the beginning using ver a high-quality reak tion gas are produced. You can do that with the above given natural gas / air ratio from about 10 Nm³ (cubic meters un ter normal conditions) natural gas and 2.5 Nm³ air about 5.0 Nm³ des Reaction gas can be obtained.
From the sum of the reaction enthalpies of the previous reactions described above results in ongoing reactions that the overall course of the reaction is weakly endothermic. The reaction gas obtained from natural gas and air is is a so-called endogas. To maintain the required catalyst temperature of more than 1000 ° C must therefore constantly supply energy to the catalyst will. The amount of energy to be supplied in the The implementation in question is about 0.25 to 0.30 kW per Nm³ of endogas and is usually by continuous heating of the fed in the reaction vessel filled catalyst.
With a view to obtaining a constant reaction gas The composition is an even distribution the required reaction temperature over the entire range the catalyst filling, in which the individual reactions of the order take place, particularly important.
In known endogas generators, the reaction is For this purpose, the cake is installed vertically in a heating chamber and from the outside heated. The endogas obtained with the reaction is by the Exhaust port derived from the reaction retort and after Aus emerges from the heating chamber immediately cooled to room temperature. Subsequently, it can then usually consist essentially of Nitrogen existing protective gas in the annealing furnace.
With newer procedures, the reaction retort becomes direct installed in the furnace chamber of the annealing furnace and the generated endogas is used immediately when hot. This allows the previously required separate heating chamber can be saved. Furthermore, the Energy consumption of the entire process is reduced because the endogas is not cooled to room temperature and on then close to the operating temperature of the furnace must be heated. This results in an overall increase cost advantage. Heating the catalyst filling follows in this process simultaneously with the heating of the Oven. Consequently, the course of the reaction and thus the Zu composition of the endogas determined by the furnace temperature. If the furnace temperature is subject to fluctuations or the Annealing the steels desired temperature not the one for implementation the temperature of the gas mixture in the reaction retort corresponds to an endogas with a fluctuating or altogether unusable composition ten.
To remedy this deficiency, endogas reaction pies developed in the form of a jacket radiant tube, in their innermost casing pipe to a natural gas burner lance additional heating of the catalyst filling and thus for on setting the catalyst temperature to a desired value can be generated. The exhaust gases from the retort heating must not be in enter the furnace chamber of the annealing furnace. Therefore, the return the flue gases of the burner lance take place within the retort. For this purpose, a three-walled, highly heat-resistant jacket jet pipe that is gas-tight and a compensation of the bottom guarantee different thermal expansions of the individual pipes got to. This has a complicated and extremely sensitive con structure of the retort to the result.
In addition, the exhaust gases from the heating when leaving the Reaction retort and a temperature of about 1000 ° C abge with this heat content from the furnace chamber of the annealing furnace conducts what a significant reduction in installation of the reaction retort received in the furnace space saving results. Finally, it has been shown that the Composition of the reaction retort in the form of a man telstrahlheizrohrs despite the additional control of the Ka Talysator temperature through the additional heating in general mean does not correspond to the desired composition.
Given these problems in the prior art Invention the object of a glow in the furnace chamber furnace-built-in, simply constructed reaction retort of the one to provide the type specified, with the endogas a ge desired composition produced reliably and inexpensively can be.
According to the invention this object is achieved in that the heating device is arranged in the reaction container, has electrical resistance heating element.
With such a resistance heating element Temperature of the catalyst charge without generating undesirable By-products such as flue gases are controlled. Hence can the resistance heating element without additional constructive Effort can be arranged in the reaction vessel. Furthermore, the entire one generated with the electrical resistance heating element Amount of heat to be given to the catalyst filling because no by-products arise, the removal of which leads to a ver reduction in the amount of heat that can be transferred to the catalyst charge leads. Finally, the temperature curve in the Kataly sator filling with the electri arranged in the reaction vessel The resistance heating element can be controlled more easily than with the previously used natural gas burner lance. Therefore, the ge desired reaction gas composition with the invention Reaction retort even in the furnace of an annealing furnace with swan the oven temperature can be reliably maintained.
An analysis of the above conversion of natural gas and air to endogas has shown that the gas reaction in two Stages expires. In the first stage immediately after entry of the gas mixture in the catalyst occurs a violently exothermic Respond to while the subsequent stage is endothermic. To obtain a uniform temperature distribution over the ge whole catalyst filling, it is therefore particularly advantageous if the heating element to create one essentially of it unaffected reaction zone in the area of the inlet opening, ie where the highly exothermic reaction of the first stage of Um settlement takes place at a distance from the inlet opening is arranged.
With regard to the two-stage given above Course of the conversion of natural gas and air to endogas the process according to the invention for the production of endogas essentially characterized in that the catalyst filling a has unheated area from the heater and that Gas mixture after the introduction into the reaction vessel first passes through the unheated area of the catalyst filling and only then into an area heated by the heating device the catalyst filling occurs.
The reaction retort according to the invention can be constructive be formed particularly easily if the reaction vessel has the shape of an essentially cylindrical tube, the inlet opening at one end of the tube and the outlet opening is placed at the other end of the tube and the resistor heating element in the center of the tube essentially lengthways whose cylinder axis extends. With this arrangement, between the resistance heating element and the outer wall of the Reak tion container, d. H. an annular gap ge the tubular jacket forms, which are used to accommodate the catalyst filling can. A Kataly so received in the reaction vessel Sator filling is with respect to the cylinder axis and therefore also with respect to the resistance heating element essentially symmetrical distributed. Therefore, this arrangement can be a particularly the same moderate temperature distribution in the catalyst filling reached will. Finally, the resistance heating element is in this Arrangement almost completely in the catalyst filling embeds, which increases the efficiency of the transmission of the with Resistance heating element generated heat to the catalyst filling can be increased. This has a further decrease in energy giebedarfs in endogas production with the invention Response retort to the result.
A further improvement in the uniformity of the tem temperature course in the catalyst filling can be achieved when the resistance heating element runs a number in a row the cylinder axis arranged and be independent of each other has drivable heating resistors. With this arrangement the heating power of the resistance heating element over the length of the Reaction container to the reaction process at the Endogaserzeu be adjusted.
In the above-mentioned analysis of the course of the reaction at endogas production has been shown to be the first stage with the violent exothermic reaction occurring in space mean over a length of about 20% of the catalyst filling expires. Therefore it is used to adjust the heating of the Kataly Sator filling the reaction sequence particularly useful if the resistance heating element from the outlet opening only over about 80% of the length of the tube between the outlet opening and the Inlet opening extends.
If the resistance heating element extends along the zy protective tube made of heat-resistant material material and has a heating resistor incorporated therein, can prevent damage to the resistance heating element and the reliability of the reaction retort according to the invention increase.
To avoid a short circuit in the protective tube it is particularly useful if the heating resistor with an elec trically insulating, preferably ceramic holder on Protective tube is fixed.
Another improvement in compliance the specified reaction gas composition can be achieved the when the heater is placed in the container Temperature sensor and an associated device for re the heating power of the resistance heating element. With this arrangement can control the temperature of the catalyst charge monitored and in the event of fluctuations in the furnace temperature by a appropriate control of the heating output can be kept constant, so as to stabilize the reaction gas composition pass.
Another stabilization of the reaction gas together Settlement can be achieved when the endogas from the reac tion retort a gas analyzer to determine its composition can be supplied with a device for regulating is connected to the composition of the introduced gas mixture.
If the reaction retort with an im essentially cylindrical reaction tube so in a heat treatment furnace plant, such as a plant for loading effect of soldering and / or neutral tempering processes or one Annealing furnace is built in that it is essentially in ho rizontal direction, it is particularly useful if it is rotatably mounted in the furnace about the cylinder axis. Thereby can bend the reaction retort at the high furnace temperature under its own weight with a cyclical forward counteracted rotation by 180 ° around the cylinder axis will. The cycle time for this 180 ° rotation is u. a. by the length and the outer diameter of the reaction retort certainly.

Fig. 2 is a schematic representation of an annealing furnace provided with reaction retorts according to the invention with a corresponding mixed gas introduction system.
The reaction retort 10 shown in FIG. 1 has a length L, substantially circular cylindrical reaction tube 12 made of heat-resistant material and a heating device in the form of an electrical resistance heating element 20 which runs exactly centrally within the tube along the tube axis. An inlet opening 14 at one end of the tube 12 is connected to a gas inlet system 15 for a line of a gas mixture of natural gas and air with a given mixing ratio in the reaction retort 10 connected. At the opposite end of the reaction tube 12 , outlet openings 16 are provided for discharging an endogas generated in the reaction retort 10 .
The resistance heating element 20 is embedded 18 incorporated in the reaction tube 12 in a housed therein nickel catalyst filling and forming ge in shape during operation of the reac tion retort replaceable cartridge heater with a running concentrically with the reaction tube protection tube 22 and is fixed with ceramic fixtures 26 heating resistor 24th This heating cartridge extends from an arranged at the outlet end of the reaction tube 12 insertion opening 28 over about 80% of the length of the reaction tube 12 , so that at the inlet end of the reaction tube 12 a reaction zone essentially unaffected by the heating with the resistance heating element 20 which over a length L 1 of about 20% of the catalyst fill 18 extends.
Fig. 2). On the protective tube 22 , a thermocouple (not shown) is arranged, with which the temperature of the catalyst filling is detected and is applied to an electronic controller for stepless adjustment of the heating power of the heating resistor 24 with a thyristor power controller (see. Fig. 2). In the area of the outlet openings 16 of the reaction tube 12 , the endogas generated can be removed immediately before entering the furnace space via a sample gas line (not shown) and fed to a gas analyzer (not shown) with which the composition of the endogas generated in the reaction retort 10 can be detected and a corresponding control signal can be applied to a device for regulating the composition of the natural gas-air mixture introduced into the retort.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 1, the catalyst filling 18 is essentially filled in an annular gap formed between the protective tube 22 and the jacket of the reaction tube 12 and symmetrical with respect to the tube axis and therefore also with respect to the resistance heating element 20 . This shape ensures uniform heat transfer to the catalyst filling.
In Fig. 2 two in a radiant tube-heated Rol lenherdofen, reaction retorts 10 according to the invention with an associated gas inlet system 15 are shown. The gas inlet system 15 has a natural gas supply line 50 , in the course of which a solenoid valve 52 , a pressure switch 54 , a gas admission pressure reducer 56 , a flow meter 58 and a non-return valve 59 are arranged. To initiate the air required for the production of endogas, the gas inlet system 15 has an air supply line 60 , in the course of which a solenoid valve 62 , a pressure switch 64 , a gas pressure reducer 66 , a flow meter 68 and a non-return valve 69 are also arranged. The natural gas supply line 50 and the air supply line 60 are coupled to one another with a gas-air ratio controller 70 with an oil-hydraulic drive system. The gas-air ratio controller controls the pressure difference between the pressure in the natural gas supply line 50 and the pressure in the air supply line 60 so that the volume ratio natural gas: air always remains constant even with a change in the amount of air. The control signals required for this are generated with pressure gauges 72 arranged in the course of the natural gas supply line 50 and the air supply line 60 .
The gas supplied via the natural gas supply line 50 and the air supply line 60 in the volume ratio thus regulated is brought together in a line 74 and mixed and then introduced into the reaction retorts 10 which extend essentially in the horizontal direction in the furnace space of the roller hearth furnace.
The reaction retorts 10 are rotatably mounted about their longitudinal axes in the roller hearth furnace, so that they can be rotated around their longitudinal axis after a particular cycle time determined by their length and their outer diameter by 180 ° to bend at the high reaction temperature under their own weight counteract.
The flow meters 58 and 68 are each with min. and max. Limit contacts equipped. If the volume ratio of natural gas to air deviates from the setpoint, a signal is given and, if an error message persists, an automatic shutdown. At the same time, the limit value contacts ensure that the reaction retorts are only acted upon within the permissible throughput. The flow rates in the natural gas supply line 50 and the air supply line 60 can be regulated with control valves and checked on the flow meters. Manometers 72 for monitoring the pressure conditions are installed in front of and behind all the actuators in the feed lines 50 and 60 .
This can be done via a sample gas line in the reaction retort Endogas removed immediately before entering the furnace will. With a connected infrared gas analyzer you can the CO₂ content of the endogas can be determined. Based on the measured CO₂ content can increase the ratio of natural gas Air can be set exactly so that the required reak tion gas composition is obtained.
With this arrangement, the roller hearth in the furnace chamber oven in addition to that from a storage tank for liquid Nitrogen or inert obtained from a nitrogen generator Carrier gas endogas can also be generated as a reaction gas.
The reaction retorts 10 for the generation of endogas in the furnace chamber are precisely adapted to the external dimensions of the radiant heating tubes in the roller hearth furnace. Usually only one or two retorts are required for the addition of endogas, which are installed instead of the radiant heating pipes. Therefore, the installation of the reaction retorts 10 according to the invention can be made easily without any modifications to the roller hearth furnaces.
The invention is not based on the drawing he explained example of the production of endogas from natural gas and air limited. For example, with the Reak Endogas also from liquid gases such as propane and butane etc., and air is generated.
