Abstract

Textiles are for garments with special functions other than protection against weather or a decorative function. The textiles consist of modified polymers which alter their colour and/or their geometric shape and/or additional physical, biological and/or chemical properties in the event of danger and in a defined manner. The polymers can e.g. contain enantio-selective dyes.

Description

The invention relates to textiles in dangerous situations or in situations in which Dangers can occur, worn on the body.

Polymers are known for a wide variety of tasks in technology and for textiles Human clothing. In the by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Technology (2nd edition, March 1995) published program "Neue Materials for key technologies of the 21st century (MaTech) "are both material Properties and areas of application of polymers listed. In doing so Standard polymers are primarily used for mass products, while technical polymers serve as construction and functional materials. On pages 30 and 31 the Application listed in the information, energy, traffic and medical technology. On Page 38 are assigned to the polymer applications, such as optical computers, refractive color systems, organic conductors, large flat screens, plastic heat exchangers, light batteries, automotive lighting with electroluminescent polymers, skin replacement, needs-based medication, biological membranes. On page 79 it is mentioned that there are multifunctional materials that have sensory and / or actuator capabilities exhibit, change reversibly in a defined manner and adapt optimally. Reviews on polymers can be found in the publications [Encyclopedia of chemical technology, John Wiley & Sons Inc., 1982, Third edition, Vol. 18, pp. 755-793] and [Chem. Rev. 1988, 88, pp. 183-200] in which a number of their properties are listed are.

The special functions relate to properties normally found in textiles as clothing not expected, such as protection against rain, wind, snow, cold and decorative as well as covering the pubic. Special functions are actuator and / or sensory character.

The invention has for its object to find textiles that are harmful or indicating and / or improving adverse environmental or health situations perform protective functions. According to the invention the object is achieved in that Clothing made from sensor and / or actuator modified polymers are their color and / or their geometric shape and / or others in the event of danger change defined physical, biological and / or chemical properties. Such modified polymers are, for example, polymer fibers, in the enantioselective color fabrics such as B. 1-phenylethylamine, propanol or fluorescein and norephedrines, embedded or filled in hollow fibers, the pH-dependent color changes generate [Analytica Chimia, Acta 246 (1991), pp. 251-257]. If someone who has this Wears textiles as clothing, comes into contact with alkalis or acids, e.g. B. acidic Rain, escaping moist gas clouds from chemical plants or contaminated water, so he can recognize the danger from his clothing and try to protect himself.

The enantioselective dyes are only mentioned here as examples. One can be considered large number of dyes. It is only important that these are embedded in polymers or as a result suitable structural architecture are chemically modified and in the presence of Visually change damage or unfavorable environmental or health situations and thus indicate the event of danger from the optically changing item of clothing. In this regard, the abstracts and lectures of the 3rd European Conference can be found optochemical sensors and biosensors in Zurich from March 31 to April 3, 1996 are referred to, in which a number of such dyes are mentioned.

Another example of modified polymers in an embodiment of the invention are Dyes that respond to certain harmful gas concentrations, such as lead salt Hydrogen sulfide, aromatic amines on vinyl chloride or bromophenol blue for Ammonia as listed in [Technischen Messen 50 (1983) 11, pp. 407-409]. Relevant for the invention is their embedding in polymers, which become textiles for clothing purposes are processed and thus signal them to the wearer in the event of danger.

These examples of sensor-modified polymers can also be used for actuator-based modes give infected polymers. So is the photochromic dye that is in sunglasses UV radiation leads to their darkening, able to be embedded in polymers and as Garment made to protect the wearer from UV radiation.

Werden Polymerfasern mit dem Gel Isoprophylacrylamid versetzt, so verändert sich das Volumen in Abhängigkeit von Temperatur und pH-Wert und kann sowohl Kraft (Aktorfunktion) ausüben als auch anzeigen [Technische Gemeinschaft 2/88, S. 11].Furthermore, polymers are mixed with moisture-dependent gels and as textile clothing processed pieces, capable of raining due to their moisture-dependent swelling to significantly reduce the permeability and thus to protect it from this. Will The polymer is mixed with the gel isoprophylacrylamide, the volume changes in Dependence on temperature and pH and can exert both force (actuator function) as well as show [Technical Community 2/88, p. 11].

Die Erfindung wird an folgendem Beispiel erläutert. The invention is illustrated by the following example.

A jacket as a textile garment is knitted from polymer fibers, in which the dyes Bromophenol blue and lead salt are immobilized. The wearer of the jacket comes to an area with a high ammonia concentration in the range of 10 to 250 ppm, so discolored the fiber immobilized with bromophenol blue from yellow to blue. The one immobilized with lead salt Fiber changes color when there is a concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the detection range from 2 to 50 ppm in brown. The entire color impression is changed. He warns the wearer obviously.
