Beschreibungdescription
Die Erfindung betrifft eine Oszillator-Lichtleiter-Verstärker Anordnung für Laserstrahlen gemäß
dem Oberbegriff des Anspruchs 1.The invention relates to an oscillator-light guide amplifier arrangement for laser beams according to
the preamble of claim 1.
Man spricht dann z.
thermischen Linse sehr wichtig.
Additional amplifiers can be installed behind the oscillator to increase the performance of laser systems
to be ordered. High laser powers are e.g. B. needed in material processing. There
are high-performance lasers in many areas such as cutting, welding, drilling and hardening
Commitment. For technological reasons, it is not always possible to implement lasers in which
the required laser parameters such as B. the laser power for an application, only from one
Module exist. So z. B. in solid-state lasers, the laser output power, among other things
limits the maximum laser crystal size that can be generated. Solid-state laser materials such as B.
Neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd: YAG) are used in rod, slab,
Pipe or disc geometry produced. To increase the performance of solid-state lasers
the active medium can be connected in series. One then speaks z. B. at
Rod geometry of multi-rod lasers or multirod lasers in English. This causes scaling
the output power with the number of rods while maintaining the beam parameters of the
Single module if the rods and the pump sources are all of the same quality. This
there is the same quality of the components because of the formation in the rod
thermal lens very important. A multi-rod laser works on the principle of symmetrical
Lens line. If this is disturbed, the output power drops and the beam parameter product can
change. The disturbances can e.g. B. by material differences in the individual modules
are caused. If many such rods are now arranged one behind the other
Very high susceptibility to failure. In addition, the whole system becomes very long and unwieldy, but before
everything also very critical.
To reduce these difficulties, an optical fiber was installed between the oscillator and the amplifier
Installed. Light guides are usually used in conjunction with high-power lasers to
to transfer the laser radiation from the laser over a distance to an application, e.g. B. one
Material processing, to guide. Such a light guide is now between the oscillator and
Amplifier arranged. For this purpose, both light guides with a stepped course of the
Refractive index (step profile fibers) or with a continuously changing refractive index
(Gradient profile fibers) is used. Such a light guide usually consists of one
Core area and a cladding area. The core area has compared to that
Cladding area the higher refractive index and can the laser light up to a maximum
Forward the acceptance angle using the total reflection at the core to cladding interface.
With light guides z. B. Nd: YAG laser radiation almost lossless over long distances (to
approx. 50 m) can be transmitted. When transmitting the laser beam through light guides with
Stepped refractive index profile is complete and even behind the fiber of the fiber core
illuminated and the coupled divergence corresponds to the coupled divergence.
Lichtleiter statt.By using such a highly flexible optical fiber between the oscillator and amplifier
these are mechanically decoupled. This makes the unwieldy ones described above
Lengths and the adjustment problems reduced. The oscillator and the amplifier can
can be set up and adjusted independently of each other. The coupling then takes place via the
Light guide instead.
The structure of the oscillator module and the amplifier module can be identical or else
be completely different. So it is not imperative to have the same dimension of
to realize active medium and the same pumping power.
symmetrische Linsenleitung auftritt. The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing. An Nd: YAG multirod laser ( 1 ) serves as a beam source for generating the laser beam. The laser beam generated in the oscillator ( 1 ) is coupled out via the coupling element ( 4 ). The decoupling element ( 4 ) can also be a mirror with variable reflectance, variable reflectivity mirror (VRM). By using a VRM as decoupling element ( 4 ) in z. B. stable resonators, a reduced beam parameter product is achieved in the entire refractive power range if the reflecting area of the VRM is equal to the diameter of the multimode beam on the decoupling element ( 4 ) at the maximum refractive power occurring. With such a VRM, constant beam radii are achieved on the decoupling element. Of course, a mirror with constant reflectance can also be used as the decoupling element ( 4 ). However, this means that the beam diameter must be kept constant with apertures in the resonator. With a fiber coupling optic ( 5 ), the laser beam is focused on the entry end ( 7 ) of a light guide. In this case, a telescope is used which maps the beam parameters on the decoupling element ( 4 ) to the fiber entry end ( 7 ). The imaging scale of the coupling telescope (s) is selected so that the beam radius on the coupling element ( 4 ) corresponds exactly to the fiber core diameter. When using a light guide ( 2 ) with a step-like refractive index profile, the beam quality is maintained, provided the coupling angle always remains smaller than the acceptance angle (acceptance angle = arcsin NA, NA = numerical aperture) of the light guide. The laser beam emerging behind the light guide ( 2 ) is now guided into the amplifier ( 3 ) with a decoupling optics ( 6 ). Since the beam quality is retained, the coupling optics ( 6 ) can correspond to the coupling optics ( 5 ). The light guide exit surface ( 8 ) and the decoupling optics ( 6 ) must be positioned so that the beam waist ( 9 ) is at such a distance from the amplifier ( 3 ) that the active medium of the amplifier module is not overexposed by the beam divergence and again a symmetrical one Lens line occurs.
