Abstract

The water-cooled smoking pipe is designed to economise on the use of tobacco and esp. avoid unwanted release of smoke during lighting up. The tobacco (Tabak) is placed at the bottom of a cylindrical container 11 cm high with a vertical axis. A second, larger dia. container, also 11 cm high contains water. (Wasser). Both containers are closed at the top by stoppers (Stopfen). The bottom of the container for the tobacco is heated by a small burner or lamp (Teelicht).
