Description
The invention relates to an infrared calibration radiator and its use as Receiver.
For the calibration of infrared radiation receivers, e.g. B. in pyrometers or Thermography systems are used, as well as for measurements Optical systems in general are known calibration emitters that the come close to the physical model of the black body.
A black body is a model of thought that has six basic properties:
- - die maximale spezifische Ausstrahlung bei einer gegebenen Temperatur wird emittiert;- the maximum specific radiation at a given temperature is emitted;
- - Gleichverteilung (Isotropie) der Strahlung in einem von schwarzen Wänden umschlossenen Raum, unabhängig von Richtung und Lage des Strahlers;- Uniform distribution (isotropy) of radiation in one of black walls enclosed space, regardless of the direction and position of the spotlight;
- - maximale Emission für jede Wellenlänge elektromagnetischer Strahlung;- maximum emission for each wavelength of electromagnetic radiation;
- - maximale Emission in jede Richtung der Ausstrahlung bei einer gegebenen Temperatur;- maximum emission in any direction of radiation at one given temperature;
- - die totale spezifische Ausstrahlung ist lediglich eine Funktion der Temperatur, die spektrale spezifische Ausstrahlung ist eine Funktion der Wellenlänge und der Temperatur;- the total specific charisma is only a function of Temperature, the spectral specific radiation is a function of the Wavelength and temperature;
The principal sizes of the radiation are for each wavelength, each Temperature and direction in accordance with the fundamental Laws of thermal radiation.

Such radiators are practically mostly designed as cavity radiators. A cavity closed on all sides with uniformly tempered walls has an opening from which the radiation to be measured emerges. Their properties come very close to the properties of a black radiator, the more the larger the inner surface of the radiator in relation to the beam outlet opening (small aperture). If electromagnetic radiation enters from outside through the opening, it is almost completely absorbed. A small part of the electromagnetic radiation is reflected and strikes another area of the inner surface of the cavity radiator. Most of the electromagnetic radiation is absorbed there again and a small part is reflected. The radiation emerging again after multiple reflection is very low; ideally, no reflection radiation emerges again. Then the entire electromagnetic radiation emerging from the outlet opening depends only on the temperature of the cavity radiator. This is equivalent to the fact that the emissivity of the cavity radiator is identical 1 (transmission and reflectance are identical 0), the emissivity ∈ being the ratio of the specific radiation M, the radiator in question at the wavelength λ and the temperature T to that radiation M SK of the black body, therefore
∈(λ, T) = M(λ, T)/MSK(λ, T)
∈ (λ, T) = M (λ, T) / M SK (λ, T)

From the operating principle it follows that a cavity emitter with respect to its radiant area is quite large, d. H. this is in field and laboratory operation, especially unwieldy under space flight conditions and for some Applications practically unusable because of weight, dimensions and Energy consumption is unacceptably large.
This fact has been known for a long time and there are therefore numerous Developments of surface emitters with particularly structured and blackened surfaces.
From DE 42 34 471 C1 z. B. an infrared receiver known from three Layers. The lower layer has a low transmittance for the infrared radiation to be absorbed. This absorbs part of the incident radiation and reflects the non-absorbed portion back into the middle layer above. The middle layer has a high one Absorption and a low degree of reflection and is mainly used for Absorption. The top layer is used to absorb the top of the Device incident radiation and absorbed or reflected by the stray radiation coming from the lower layers. To reflectivity To reduce the top layer, a recess is provided so that it is too Multiple reflection comes within the recess. To increase the received radiation amount can be several of the previously described Infrared receivers are arranged in a grid and interconnected.
From EP 0 463 906 A1 an infrared radiation absorbing body is known the surface of which is bonded with thermoplastic, porous Has pigment layers, which radiation from 20 to 500 microns wavelength should absorb. The body can be made of aluminum or nickel porous surface should have a roughness of max. Be equipped with 200 µm and black carbon can be used for pigmentation.
A disadvantage of the known surface emitters or receivers is that these do not achieve the quality of cavity lamps.
This is to allow temperatures on objects low emissivity can be measured. The type of darkness of the Shielding is not disclosed.
From DE 42 21 037 A1 a thermopile sensor is also known, in which one metallic, radiation-receiving surface with a photolithographic structurable lacquer layer of low thickness is occupied by additives such as Carbon absorbs infrared radiation. The degree of absorption should be about 95% amount, the radiation not directly absorbed after reflection at the metallic surface to be absorbed. Even higher levels of absorption are difficult to reach. It should also be borne in mind that obviously the Degree of absorption also includes radiation in the range of visible light.
AS 14 89 356 is an elongated light source for generating and Emission of polarized light radiation known to be perpendicular to its longitudinal axis has an extent of the same order of magnitude as the wavelength of the desired light radiation. For this purpose, the individual light source can be one from one flat plate projecting rib, the extent of which is perpendicular to their Longitudinal axis of the same order of magnitude or the same as the wavelength of the desired light radiation from the light source. The rib cross section can be rectangular, square, sinusoidal or triangular. The record is there preferably made of tungsten, molybdenum or platinum, the ribs also made of a other material can exist.
From DE-PS 486 245 is a spherical or ellipsoidal filament for electrical Incandescent lamps known, consisting of a hollow metal body less Wall thickness, the wall being interrupted by holes that the Allow black cavity radiation to emerge on all sides. Furthermore it is described in the introductory state of the art of this document that, in order the emissivity of such lamps made of tungsten or other difficult to bring fusible metals closer to a black body, it is known to corrugate or fold the surface of the surface to make it sufficiently large Number of reflections of the originally emitted light rays and thus to receive radiation that is nourished to black radiation. Except of the fact that the grooves must not have a too large opening angle to the To achieve the necessary number of reflections, it is practical with extraordinary difficulties linked, tungsten lights with such To make grooves.
From US 45 75 631 an infrared detector is known, in which means anisotropic etching in one process step truncated pyramidal holes in a silicon wafer can be etched. The pits created by this work due to their sloping side walls like reflection traps. It is further known that the surface of the truncated pyramidal holes with metal or can be coated with a heat absorbing material. Disadvantageous the known infrared detector is its low efficiency due to remaining planar surfaces. Due to Stability reasons should not be chosen too small, otherwise due to Undercuts the bridges would break away. The holes must not be closed either be deeply etched, otherwise the wafer would break.
From Patents Abstracts of Japan E 1994, 1560, p. 308, 6-68855, JP 6-68855 A is a light source with an incandescent body for emitting almost parallel Radiation known, with the incandescent body over its entire surface rectangular holes is formed. The incandescent body is a lens array assigned, with each hole being assigned exactly one lens. This only hits light generated in the holes onto the lenses and is emitted in a bundle, whereas radiation from the surface hits intermediate points in the array and is reflected back into the incandescent body.
From Patents Abstracts of Japan E 1994, 1488, p. 17, 5-258730, JP 5-258730 A is known for an incandescent body for a light source with a variety of rectangular holes on the order of the interest Wavelength is formed. To increase the lifespan of these fine structures increase, the filament is not heated electrically, but indirectly via a Heat element, as this causes atomic movement to destroy the fine structure is reduced.
The invention is based on the problem of an infrared calibration radiator or To create the receiver with small dimensions and weight Radiation properties of a black body comes very close. Are there the subject-specific boundary conditions for an application under Space considerations.
According to the invention the problem is solved by claims 1 and 11. Further advantageous embodiments result from the subclaims.
The solution sees the use of a large number of surface-enlarging, assembled individual elements that the radiator or receiver surface form, before. This enlarges the active surface without the External dimensions or the weight of the infrared calibrator or To enlarge the recipient significantly. The individual elements form together with their neighboring individual elements on the one hand a macro structure and together a sub-structure as a coherent surface that the Have the effect of reflection traps and thus the absorption behavior of the Improve the emitter or receiver. The individual elements can be used for both Area radiators as well as for cavity radiators can be used.
Macro structure means the idealized desired surface geometry of the calibration radiator. This surface consists of a large number of individual elements. These individual elements on their own would increase the surface area, but would partially reflect an incident light beam again. The individual elements are therefore designed such that, together with adjacent individual elements, they form a substructure which acts as a reflection trap. In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2 described later in detail, three adjacent individual elements each form a substructure. It is only through the formation of these substructures that it is even possible to obtain degrees of absorption that are close to those of a black body. By contrast, the term microstructure used below is understood to mean the surface roughness or the roughness depth of the surface, which can be set, for example, by means of a lithography step.
The fact that the individual elements are detachable from the base can defective individual elements can be replaced without the entire Exchange infrared emitters or receivers. In addition, the Emitter or receiver surface adapted to the external conditions become. By galvanic metallization, e.g. B. with nickel of the lateral surfaces of the joining part, the thermal coupling of the individual elements is increased. By the cross-section results in the joint being formed as a symmetrical hexagon there is a particularly high packing density of the individual elements. It is not required that the entire part of the non-absorption Single element is equipped with the same cross-section, but it is enough if surfaces close to the base or other parts of the individual element are one Have polygonal shape so that they can be packed tightly. The top of this Single element, d. H. the absorber part can be conical or pyramid-shaped be formed and should have a tip.
Such a calibration radiator or receiver can be part of a measuring or Be calibration device, known measuring systems and / or Temperature stabilizers additively apply, which the specialist as such are known. If the invention is carried out exactly Absorption levels of <98% reached. Practical tests also have these values Wavelengths from 0.9 to 200 µm confirmed.
This is obviously only possible with a combined regular macro structure of the Surface, supplemented by a known microstructure of the exposed Surface. Microstructuring can be dispensed with if special Surface coatings are applied.
Die Figuren zeigen:The invention is based on a preferred embodiment explained in more detail, the disclosure according to the claims also is to be used. The figures show:
Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht eines Einzelelementes; Figure 1 is a side view of a single element.
Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht auf die Strahler- oder Empfängeroberfläche und Fig. 2 is a plan view of the radiator or receiver surface and
Fig. 3 shows an axial section along the line AA of the antenna elements or receivers surface in FIG. 2.
In Fig. 1 is a side view of a single element 1 is shown. The individual element 1 consists of a joining part 2 and an absorber 3 which is pointed on the irradiation side. The joining part 2 is a slim element, e.g. B. a cylindrical pin with a symmetrical hexagon as the base or part of its peripheral surface 4 , which is preferably galvanized, in particular nickel-plated. The absorber 3 is a cone, the outer surface 5 of which is coated with an infrared radiation-absorbing mass or color. The individual element 1 composed of the joining part 2 and the absorber 3 thus has a shape similar to a sharpened pencil. The joining part 2 is connected to a base, not shown. This connection can be designed releasably, for. B. by screw connections, tongue and groove or plug connections. This list is not exhaustive, since the choice of the suitable connection depends on the dimensions of the individual element 1 and other requirements. The joining part 2 and the absorber 3 can be made in one piece or in two pieces. As the base material for the joining part 2 and the absorber 3 z. B. Find graphite application. In the two-part embodiment, however, different materials, in particular metals as base material, can also be used for the joining part 2 and the absorber 3 .
. The Figure 2 shows a plan view of the radiator - or receiver surface. A large number of individual elements 1 are interconnected. A single element 1 is surrounded by six further individual elements 1 . If the infrared emitter or receiver is designed as a surface emitter, the periodicity breaks off at the edges. If infrared radiation falls on an outer surface 5 of an absorber 3 , the majority of the radiation is absorbed by the coating of the absorber 3 . The rest of the radiation is reflected (neglecting the transmission) and falls on the lateral surface 5 of an adjacent individual element 1 or absorber 3 . The largest portion of the previously reflected radiation is absorbed again and the remaining portion is reflected. This process continues until reflected radiation no longer strikes the outer surface 5 of an absorber.
FIG. 3 shows an axial section along the line AA according to FIG. 2 through the infrared calibration radiator or receiver, individual elements 1 shown hatched. Neighboring absorbers 3 each form valleys in which the multiple reflections take place. The slimmer the tip angle of the absorber, the better the absorption capacity of the calibration radiator or its surface. The limit of such a design is of course the increasing manufacturing costs and sensitivity to mechanical stress.
The base of the joining part 2 can be designed as an n-sided, symmetrical polygon. In particular as an infrared calibration radiator, a polygon increases the isotropy of the radiation emitted by the calibration radiator.
To increase the degrees of absorption, the outer surface 5 can still z. B. photolithographically generated microstructure or roughness. By partially or completely coating the surface created by the individual elements, the joints between the individual elements can also be covered with absorber material.
