Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method and a Direction for measuring the mass flow of flowing liquid media according to the generic term of the main saying and the secondary claim.
The principle of mass flow measurement with ultrasound is has been known for a long time, but has so far been able to cannot be implemented reliably. This principle is based on the fact that the speed of sound and the acoustic impedance of the medium and its density is determined. Simultaneously, the flow ge speed measured. From density and flow ge Speed can then be with a known pipe cross cut calculate the mass flow directly. They are one A plurality of arrangements and procedures for this be knows.
A mass diameter described in DE 42 37 907 flow meter consists of a device for detecting solution of flow velocity and thermal Sensors. The thermal sensors are used for determination media density. The disadvantage of this is order that the reliability of the temperature you te determination essentially from the material properties be influenced by the fluid. These must be known and remain constant. While this assumption for selected applications in gas shaped media would be applicable, for example for monitoring the heating gas consumption, this is for a process-technical use to record the Mass flow cannot be used for liquids.
An ultrasonic flow is known from US Pat. No. 3,020,759 Knife known, in addition to the flow speed the electrical behavior of the transmitter converter is evaluated. For this, a generatorsi gnal constant amplitude to the transducer leads. Referring to the simplified replacement wiring diagram (Mason-ESB) becomes the dominant influence the parallel capacity with the help of an adjustable Series inductance compensated. The change of Radiation resistance caused by the media or whose change is caused one as a measure of the density of the flowing medium. The disadvantage here is that due to different most error influences (constancy of the transmission signal, Ab tuning to resonance frequency or its tracking, Constancy and fine adjustment of the series inductance, Change in connection conditions, temperature influence etc.) the accuracy of the measurement is insufficient. For reliable, low-maintenance use under This arrangement is industrial conditions Not insertable.
US 5,214,966 describes one method and one Mass flow measuring device used for simultaneous detection of flow velocity, Speed of sound and acoustic impedance of the medium serves to transform the mass flow of the medium to calculate. The reliability of the sealing bees mood is achievable due to the limited accuracy limited the acoustic impedance measurement. For this purpose, a multi-layer converter structure is used wrote, which reflect on the phase boundaries th sound signals can be evaluated. The disadvantage is with this arrangement that at the phase boundary Liquid reflected signal several times the phases limit must pass within the lead section. On the one hand, this leads to a considerable reduction in signal amplitudes to be evaluated and presupposes that the acoustic behavior of the materials as well as the Properties of the phase transition within the pre Running route known very well and above all constant is. This requirement is in terms of temperature influences in practical use of the arrangement only insufficiently given. Inevitable reflections of the diffraction world spreading in the lead section len deteriorate the signal-to-noise ratio considerably.
The invention is therefore based on the object Method and device for measuring the mas flow of flowing liquid media fen, which enable an accurate measurement.
This object is achieved by the kenn features of the main claim and the ne subordinate claim solved.
Because the acoustic impedance is low Measurement uncertainty is measured, the total Mass flow measurement can be improved. At The measurement of acoustic impedance is carried out by a the sound transducer used is preferably identical Sound signals in two on both sides of the sound transducer radiated intended lead routes that to the liquid medium and touch a reference medium. The at the interfaces to the liquid or to the Re Signals reflected by the reference medium become immediate and evaluated directly. Multiple reflections within of the lead routes are avoided. Until the capture solution of the signal parameters relevant for the measurement can not be annoying in the lead Superimpose diffraction waves with the measurement signal.
By the measure specified in the subclaims Men are advantageous further training and improvements possible.
To increase the accuracy of the acoustic imp distance measurement in selected applications (driving and Lubricants, food and others) the Re reference medium to the media properties of the he material flow can be adjusted. Through the additional evaluation of the absorption behavior of the Liquid is also possible to enter flow of low gas concentrations on the measurement result to correct or exceed a permissible gas concentration to recognize this "failure" and signal.
Es zeigen:The invention is shown in the drawing and is explained in more detail in the following description tert. Show it:

The arrangement shown in Fig. 1 forms an essential part of the device according to the invention and has a sound transducer 1 , which is preferably designed as a piezoceramic. On both sides of the sound transducer 1 join a ste he delay line 2 and a second flow path 3 via the respective entire radiating surface of the transducer. 1 The lead sections 2 , 3 each consist of a material with a known impedance, preferably of the same material, which can be plastic or steel, for example. The liquid 4 to be measured adjoins the first lead section 2 and forms a first interface 7 . Running track to the second pre 3, a reference medium 5 includes with known acoustic properties, for example a gas, and there is a second interface 8 Zvi rule second delay line 2 and reference medium 5 is formed, the reflection factor is known. In order to make the measuring range more sensitive, the reference medium 5 is selected with regard to its acoustic properties so that they essentially correspond to the acoustic properties of the liquid 4 to be measured.
The sound transducer 1 is connected to a control and evaluation device, not shown, which on the one hand controls the sound transducer to emit a sound pulse and on the other hand evaluates the electrical signals received by the sound transducer 1 due to the re-reflected sound waves and determines the acoustic impedance. The second lead 3 is somewhat longer than the first lead 2 , which results in successive received signals at Re flexion of the sound signals at the respective Grenzflä surfaces, which can be evaluated more easily. The signals are preferably detected by the sound transducer 1 in a predetermined time window.
The operation of the device shown in Fig. 1 is as follows. A sound pulse is emitted from the sound transducer 1 to the first and second lead sections 2 , 3, which pulse continues in the coupling medium of the lead sections and is reflected at the interfaces 7 and 8 , respectively. In temporal separation, the sound signal reflected by the interface 7 and then the sound signal reflected by the interface 8 are received in accordance with the transit times in the pre-run routes 2 , 3 . Since the reflection factor at the second interface 8 , that is, the acoustic impedances of the lead 3 and the reference medium 5 is known, the emitted amplitude of the sound pulse is proportional to the product of the reflection factor at the interface 8 and the amplitude of the reflection by the Interface 8 produced reference signal, which is passed on to the evaluation device by the sound transducer 1 . The reflection factor at the interface 7 , which is given by the acoustic impedances of the lead section 2 and the liquid medium 4 , is proportional to the amplitude of the measurement signal caused by the reflection of the sound pulse at the first interface 7 to the amplitude of the emitted signal. The impedance of the liquid medium 4 can thus be determined from the transmission signal, the reference signal and the measurement signal in the evaluation device. With the same materials of the flow paths 2, 3 of the piezoelectric ceramic to the front of running tracks 2, 3 an identical acoustic signal coupling is ensured on both sides by the same on both sides type coupling so that the direct ratioing may th to the Grenzschich 7, carried 8 reflected signals of the . This signal ratio is ideally independent of the transmit signal amplitude.
In Fig. 1 follows the route of the liquid medium 4, a second single or multi-layer on built sound transducer 6 , with which the sound signals not received after passing the lead section 2 at the first interface 7 are received. Knowing the length ratios of the sound path and the sound propagation time, including the acoustic impedance of the liquid 4 , the density of the liquid 4 in the evaluation device connected to the second sound transducer 6 can be calculated. The acoustic absorption of the liquid under investigation 4 can also be determined from the amplitude information of the liquid to be examined.
In Fig. 2, a device for measuring the mass flow is provided, in which an arrangement according to Fig. 1 is used as a sound transmitter and receiver. In Fig. 2, 10 is a flow channel Darge, for which the mass flow rate is to be determined, the acoustic impedance of the flowing liquid is not known. Parallel to Strö the direction of flow of the liquid is at the 10 a sensor array disposed at one end of the flow channel 11 of FIG. 1 and at the other end of the Strö mung channel 10, the sensor assembly 11 gegenüberlie is quietly instead of the acoustic transducer 6 of FIG. 1, a transducer 12 provided that can have a simple or multilayer structure. Furthermore, an evaluation device 13 is provided, which receives the signals from the sensor arrangement 11 and the sound converter 12 . The flow cross section and the length of the flow channel 10 between the two sensors 11 , 12 are known.
As described above, the acoustic impedance of the liquid flowing in the flow channel 10 can be determined by means of the sensor arrangement 11 and the evaluation circuit 13 . The impedance of the liquid is equal to its density times the speed of sound. The sound signal emitted by the sensor arrangement 11 is received by the sound transducer 12 and the transit time of the sound pulse can be determined over the length of the flow channel, which is proportional to the speed of sound in the liquid plus the flow speed, for example in the direction of flow. In a corresponding manner, a signal is emitted by the sound converter 12 , which is received by the sensor arrangement 11 , and a second transit time is determined, which is proportional to the speed of sound in the liquid and the flow speed against the direction of flow of the liquid. From the transit times, the speed of sound in the liquid can be determined on the one hand so that the density can be calculated, and on the other hand the flow rate can be calculated from the difference in the transit times, whereby the volume flow can be determined taking into account the cross-sectional dimensions. The mass flow is the product of the volume flow and the predetermined density and the mass flow is thus calculated in the specified manner.
Of course, another arrangement of the transducers 11 , 12 to the flow channel 10 can be provided at an angle to the flow direction of the liquid speed.
As described above, the absorption of the liquid or its change can be determined from the amplitudes of the sensor arrangement 11 or the sound transducer 12 . A problem with mass flow measuring devices is that measurements cannot be carried out precisely if, for example, the gas fraction in the liquid becomes too high due to the flow rate being too fast. The evaluation device can therefore determine the gas fraction from the degree of absorption and, if necessary, apply a correction to the measurement of the mass flow or give a warning signal if a predetermined measurement accuracy is exceeded due to an excessively high gas fraction.
