Die »Thermo-Saugflasche« besteht aus zwei Haupttheilen: α Saugflasche, b Thermometer.
α unterscheidet sich von gewöhnlichen Saugflaschen dadurch, dafs sie in der Mitte des Bodens eine etwa 1 cm grofse Durchbohrung hat, ferner, dafs dieselbe im Bodenrande eine schwalbenschwanzartige Keilfuge und auf einer Seitenfläche eine vertiefte Rille hat.
b das Thermometer ist nach Form der Flasche hergerichtet. Das Gefäfs (Kugel) desselben pafst in die Bodenbohrung, das Rohr in die Rille der Saugflasche. ·
Durch ein Gummiplättchen c auf dem Gefäfsrande und durch den in die schwalbenschwanzartige Fuge einzuschiebenden Keil d wird der innige und dichte Zusammenhang der Flasche mit dem Thermometer hervorgebracht.
Der Zweck der Verbindung ist, zu beobachten, ob die den Säuglingen zu verabreichende Flüssigkeit die Normal temperatur besitzt.
Die obere Marke repräsentirt die Normaltemperatur für Milch-, die untere für Zimmerwärme.
Die Zusammensetzung dieses Instrumentes ist so einfach, dafs selbst Unkundige dasselbe leicht behufs Reinigung lösen und wieder vereinigen können.
