Gegenstand vorliegender Erfindung ist eine Zither, bei der neben den mittels Bogens anzustreichenden Melodiesaiten Begleitsaiten in Akkordgruppen vorgesehen sind. Das Neue an dieser Zither besteht darin, daß die Melodiesaiten über bogenförmige Stege gespannt sind, von denen jeder Steg höher als der folgende ist und ihn hornförmig überragt. Auf diese Weise ist es möglich, eine bedeutend größere Anzahl von Melodiesaiten auf der Zither anzuordnen, ohne daß diese hierdurch größer als üblich wird. Das Gehäuse der Zither besteht aus einem Metallrahmen α, den Böden b und den Zargen c. Es ist an dem Teil, über welchen die Melodiesaiten gespannt sind, stufenförmig abgesetzt ausgebildet. Die Akkordsaiten e gehen von Stiften/aus über die Randleiste g und den Steg h hinweg zu der Wirbelgruppe i. Die Melodiesaiten k gehen von Stegen / aus über den Steg h hinweg zu der Wirbelgruppe wj. Die Stege / sind oben bogenförmig begrenzt und es ist jeder Steg / höher als der vorhergehende. Jeder Steg greift auf diese Weise über die danebenliegenden Saiten des vorhergehenden hinüber, so daß die Saiten stellenweise übereinander weg geführt sind. Die Saiten, welche an der Streichstelle genügend weiten Abstand voneinander haben, rücken nach den Wirbeln eng aneinander. Die Zither behält somit trotz größerer Saitenzahl die übliche Größe bei, und die Tonfülle des Instruments wird andererseits bedeutend gehoben.Fig. Ι is a plan view from above,
