Oktober 1968 eingereichten, parallellaufenden Anmeldung P180Q2169 sowie mit der US-Patentschrift 3 376 451 worn 2, April 1968„ Shadow mask for color television picture tubes The present invention relates to a hole or shadow mask for color television picture tubes, which is designed so that it can be attached with its outer edge to the glass bulb of the picture tube and can be fixed there securely. The present application is in some way related to the parallel application P180Q2169 filed by the same applicant on October 1, 1968, and US Pat. No. 3,376,451 worn April 2, 1968 "
They contain a translucent area made up of a multitude of tiny, closely spaced holes and is surrounded or enclosed by a non-perforated edge area. The translucent area is usually slightly curved outwards in order to adapt it to the partially spherical shape of the screen »The attachment of the! Basque was previously done on a fairly massive retaining ring, which in turn with the help of suitable spring-like fasteners attached to the inside of the kinescope bulb. To those with this type of hat attachment and bracket

To overcome associated disadvantages, a number of recent developments and improvements have been made. To this also include the inventions made in the aforementioned US » Patent specification and described in the previously cited application are, these latest developments prove to be right and a number of those with the old ones Fixing devices prevent smudges from occurring. the industry is constantly on the lookout for further improvements. For example, the shadow mask fulfills not only their normal function in the picture tube, namely to ensure that the electron beams are aimed at the correct ones Color bright dots meet on the inside of the screen, but they will also occur when assembling the tube used in the production of the color luminous point pattern. to For this purpose, the mask is temporarily assembled and used Production of the color triples rebuilt three times. Decisive It is important to note that the mask always takes exactly the same position each time it is re-installed and when it is finally installed, to ensure that the holes are in relation to the phosphor points are properly aligned. At the same time, the mask must be used to accelerate the assembly of the picture tube the production of the phosphorus dots nevertheless easily off and have it reinstalled.
The usual front part or belong to the picture tube Faceplate made of glass, which contains the luminescent screen, and a back part, which after connection with the faceplate the Completes picture tube and contains the beam generator, etc.

The shadow mask consists of the usual translucent area, the uon a non-perforated area is enclosed and the shape of which is adapted to the contour of the screen. The outer edge However, the fflaske is bent to a shelf after being worn, which fits into a groove provided in the hand pulled backwards on the front part of the picture tube, which on the one hand the mask fixed in their position, but on the other hand easy to remove the mask «during the formation of the bright colored points enables. The connection of the two parts dbs glass flask takes place by throwing the back part against the edge of the The faceplate, after being welded on, holds the back part of the slide tightly in the groove. The mask is firmly attached to this tit Hold around their entire outer edge, so that Temperaturuiechsel, under the influence of which the mask may expand or contract can, now only cause the fflaske to bend forwards or backwards in relation to the screen » However, this will reduce the quality and brightness of the The picture tube's luminescent screen shows only a little or not affected at all.

merden. Similar to the shadow mask is round or rectangular, depending on the type of tube in which it is used. Of those usually placed in the back of the picture tube Jet generator ?! Electron beams flow through the holes in the light-transmitting area 11 to those on the inside the phosphor particles located on the screen »The (not Phosphorus particles shown) are located on the inside of the screen surface of the screen carrier 12 ″, as can be seen most clearly Fig. 3 shows, is the screen usually so curved? that it forms a spherical surface. The translucent one Area 11 of the shadow mask 10 is adapted to the shape of the screen by corresponding concave curvature, so that the slide is tiny Points or holes in the shadow mask on the inside correctly aligned with the phosphor dots located on the screen are.
Auf diese U/eiseThe shadow mask 10 has a non-perforated edge area 13 which surrounds the transparent area 11 The edge region 13 can partly be a straight extension the curvature of the transparent area are formed, but is then angsmessenen in one of the size of the faceplate 12 Removed outwardly and then bent forwardly to form a rim or rim 14 extending around the entire circumference the shadow mask runs "The rearward drawn edge 15 of the faceplate 12 mostly a continuous groove or Recess 16, which is dimensioned so that the board 14 of the shadow mask 10 is firmly seated in the groove. In this way

For example, the shadow mask 10 can be temporarily attached to the faceplate 12 while the picture tube is being assembled, in order to photographically print a group of phosphor dots through the translucent area 11 or to produce it in any other suitable manner. Thereafter, the shadow mask 10 can be pulled out of the groove again and the faceplate subjected to any further required to form the phosphor dots processing and / Ground 0 to use this procedure as long repeated uierden, incurred until all sets of points in perfect quality. The ease with which the mask can be attached and removed, as well as the savings associated with it, is therefore quite evident. It is essential that the shadow mask 10 always takes up the same position as before after it has been removed and reinstalled, so that the phosphor points are precisely aligned with their corresponding holes in the translucent area of the mask.
Sind alle zur Bildung der Phosphorpunkte erforder~ liehen Arbeitsschritte beendet, so wird die Schattenmaske 10 in die Nut 16 eingeschoben, worauf das trichterförmige Rückteil 17 des aus Glas bestehenden Röhrenkolbens gegen den nach hinten gezogenen Rand 15 des Scnirmträgers 12 gehalten und in der üblichen Weise angeschweißt wird0 Hierdurch wird der Glaskolben der Röhre geschlossen und die Schattenmaske 10 in ihrer Lage in der Nut 16 fixierte Bei Normalbetrieb auftretende Temperaturschwankungen, durch die sich die metallmaske u.U. ausdehnen oder zusammenziehen kann, bewirkenWhen all the work steps required to form the phosphor dots have been completed, the shadow mask 10 is pushed into the groove 16, whereupon the funnel-shaped rear part 17 of the tubular bulb made of glass is held against the rearwardly drawn edge 15 of the screen carrier 12 and welded on in the usual way is 0 This closes the glass bulb of the tube and the shadow mask 10 is fixed in its position in the groove 16

Hierdurch wird eine der Ursachen für Bildveränderungen beseitigt, die bei Normalbetrieb des Fernsehempfängers auf dem Bildschirm auftreten können und die für die Industrie bisher ein ziemlich großes Problem darstellten.with a mask fixed in this way only that the translucent area 11 moves slightly forwards or backwards with respect to the faceplate 12, but without to move the holes sideways with respect to their associated phosphor points on the screen. This will eliminates one of the causes of image distortion that was associated with Normal operation of the television receiver may occur on the screen and which have been a pretty big problem for the industry up to now.
The rear part 17 of the glass bulb extending rearward from the edge 15 of the faceplate 12 is conventional funnel-shaped and contains the beam generators (not shown) with which the electron beams are generated. UJie and In which way the two pieces of glass are thrown together, is not particularly relevant to the present invention and is in the tube fabrication field known to those skilled in the art.
