Abstract

The high-rise silo, of timber construction, has openings one above the other which can be closed. It has stress rings round the sheath, one or more of which intersects an opening, and therefore bent above or below it. These stress rings (4, 6) are continued without interruption at an opening being bent out of line, sideways from the opening twice on opposite directions. Two shaped rail bars (7, 10) are fitted parallel to the vertical edges of the opening. These have abutments (8, 11), on them. The abutment (8) on the bar further from the opening engages the outside of the sloping stress rings, and the abutment on the nearer bar engages the inside.
