Abstract
Description
Shielding against nuclear fission radiation The invention relates to a shielding against nuclear streaks, which in the manufacturing state deformable, is rigid in the final state and which is used to shield radioactive substances Radiations, as they occur, for example, in nuclear fission, can be used.
Bekannt sind derartige Abschirmungen z.B.Such shields are used to reduce the radiation in core circuits and harmful effects on the environment, especially on people, to prevent. Such shields are known e.g.
"heissen Zellen"; desweiteren dienen diese Abschirmungen beispielsweise zur Strahlenabsorbtion beim CmDang mit Röntgengeräten.in experimental or power reactors, as well as in the so-called "hot" Cells "; these shields also serve, for example, for radiation absorption at CmDang with X-ray machines.
Metal plates are usually made for such shields e.g. steel or lead is used; however, there are also shields made of concrete or Heavy concrete known. The shields made of concrete or very heavy concrete have a relatively low shielding effect, so that considerable dimensions are required to achieve a effective shielding are required. The shielding by means of steel plates is relatively expensive, because on the one hand strong satellites are required for this, on the other hand the processing of these plates is difficult and correspondingly expensive. Lead plates have a high shielding effect, but they are subject to wear and tear and limited in terms of workability and usability.
The object on which the invention is based is to provide a shield produce that has a high shielding effect has, in the production and malleability is easy, as well as wear-resistant to mechanical, chemical and radiation exposure is.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the shield from a combination of synthetic resin with one or more shielding or additives exists, in particular that an epoxy resin is used as the synthetic resin, which is a great resistance to radiation, primarily against ultraviolet, gamma and neutron rays having. The synthetic resin is expediently used for the production of this combination a hardener is added, which enters into a chemical bond with this and with which the hardening time of the shield can be controlled. A special The characteristic of the shield is that the combination is on the surface is pore-free and that it has a superficial shielding layer. Further a complete radiation absorption is carried out by means of this shielding, so that no radiation is reflected. Furthermore, this has shielding the property that it is extremely resistant to mechanical and chemical exposure, as well as nuclear radiation, so that no wear and tear or decomposition this shielding takes place. The combination has proven to be useful to produce in a homogeneous mixture, with the shielding additives in fine-grained E.g. added in powder form or that the grain structure according to a certain Grading curve is made. The combination can also be used in addition to granular additives made of e.g. lead, iron, barite or similar also contain cement or water.
A Susführun, example of the invention is shown in the drawing. Fig. 1 shows the section through a shield, which consists of a homoáene combination consists of epoxy resin with fine-grained lead particles 1.
The shield has a closed, pore-free surface 2, which is connected to the superficial shielding layer 3. In the shield a built-in part 4 is cast in the manufacturing state and is used, for example for carrying out nuclear fission radiation.
The advantages that can be achieved with the invention are that the Shielding has a high shielding effect that it is also practically in any shape can be produced within the appropriate formwork, that it is practically not subject to wear and tear and is also largely insensitive is against temperature as well as chemical and mechanical stresses. The height The shielding effect therefore requires extremely small dimensions of this shielding, so that a downsizing of the plants and thus a corresponding reduction the cost is achievable.
In relation to the shielding effect, there are also the costs of the shielding relatively low itself, which provides a further economic advantage. Another advantage is that built-in parts such as passages, Robein mouths etc. can easily be built into the shield as it is manufactured.
