Description
Process for the production of carboxylic acid allyl esters It is known to produce allyl acetate by reacting allyl alcohol with acetic acid. It is also known that allyl acetate can be prepared by reacting propylene with acetic acid in the presence of compounds of the noble metals of group B. Subgroups of the periodic system exist, which change their valency level reversibly -... under the reaction conditions. This process can be carried out, for example, in the liquid phase at temperatures between 600 and 160 ° C. and propylene partial pressures of 5 to 50 kg / cm 2 . However weräen at DER-like method, only 7 to 30 *% by mole of the propylene to allyl acetate-umgesetzt. The remainder passes into propenyl or isopropenyl acetate and other by-products such as acrolein, acetone, and carbon oxides. The production of allyl acetate from propylene, oxygen and acetic acid over palladium-metal catalysts at temperatures of 50 ° to 250 ° C. in the liquid and gas phase is also known, although considerable amounts of acetone are formed as a by-product.
The catalysts known to date for the production of allyl carboxylates only have a short service life and are therefore unsuitable for technical processes.
The invention now relates to a process for the selective preparation of carboxylic allyl esters in the gas phase by reacting propylene, oxygen or oxygen-containing gases and carboxylic acids at elevated temperatures in the presence of catalysts made from an inert carrier material, one or more salts of one or more Noble metals of the B. subgroup of the Periodic System, preferably the carboxylic acid used, optionally salts of the metals of the 1st and 2nd main or subgroup of the Periodic System , which is characterized in that the starting materials are used over catalysts derives from 0.01 to 20 wt, - S °, relative to the catalyst of bismuth, preferably in the form of bismuth salts, as well as, where appropriate redox systems include bas method according to the invention provides when working with the above loading signed mixed catalysts at high. Space-time performance yields of over 96% of carbons äureallylestern, based on converted propylene.
The bismuth can be used in metallic form in the method according to the invention. However, it is advantageous to prepare the bismuth salt in situ. Particularly good results are achieved when the bismuth is in the form of a bismuth salt, in particular a bismuth carboxylate. . These carboxylates can optionally also be generated in situ on the contact, for example from bismuth hydroxide, bismuth oxide or from metallic bismuth and oxidizing agents. It is particularly advantageous if the bismuth is present in such a form, for example as bismuth hydroxide or bismuth oxide, that it can form a basic or neutral carboxylate under the reaction conditions. In some cases, however, the process according to the invention can still be carried out successfully if the amount of bismuth added is less than 0.01% by weight, based on the mixed catalyst. According to the invention, saturated aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acids which have one or more carboxyl groups can be reacted. However, it is essential that the carboxylic acid in question can be vaporized under the reaction conditions and does not contain any olefinic double bonds. The carboxylic acid therefore generally has no more than 10 carbon atoms. Preference is given to reacting unsubstituted, saturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acids having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, such as propionic acid, n-butyric acid and i-butyric acid, particularly preferably acetic acid. The oxygen can be used in pure elemental form or mixed with inert gases, for example in the form of air or an oxygen-carbon dioxide mixture. In the technical implementation of the process, it is often expedient for the propylene-oxygen mixtures used to lie outside the known explosion ranges.
The use of oxygen is preferably carried out in such a way that the oxygen partial pressure is slowly increased in the initial period. The slow increase in oxygen pressure in the initial period results in a significantly higher catalyst performance in the production of allyl acetate . The higher power in the production of ER- Carbonsäureallylestern can be cleared which is at a faster increase in pressure of the oxygen is not obtained in the shortened period of time by the formation of a particularly active form of the catalyst.
When carrying out the process industrially, it is particularly advantageous to continuously recycle the unconverted starting products into the reactor after all or some of the reaction products have been removed. The used portion of the feedstock is replaced jewezUs.
Salts of the noble metals of subgroup B. of the Periodic Table which are suitable for the reaction are those of ruthenium, rhodium, iridium, platinum and, in particular, of palladium. Corresponding precious metal salt mixtures can also be used with advantage . It is particularly preferred to use the noble metals in the form of the salts of the particular carboxylic acid to be converted. In the case of the reaction of propylene with acetic acid, the use of palladium acetate as a catalyst is therefore particularly advantageous.
A wide variety of support materials can be used for the catalyst inert materials are used, e.g. activated carbon, titanium dioxide, titanium silicate, Zirconium oxide, zirconium silicate, zirconium phosphate, aluminum oxide, and also silicates such as fired Clay or aluminosilicates, silicon carbide and silica gel. As particularly beneficial has a silica with a specific surface area between 40 and 300 m2 / g and a mean pore radius between 50 and 2000 2.
It is advantageous to carry out the reaction in the presence of one or more Carry out alkali salts of the carboxylic acid to be converted. The sodium salts are preferred and particularly preferably the potassium salts. The preferred amounts of the carboxylic acid alkali salts are between 0.1 and 25% by weight, especially between 1 and 10% by weight on the weight of the carrier material and catalytically active substances Mixed catalyst.
A particularly favorable technical embodiment consists in supplying the alkali metal salts of the carboxylic acids continuously or discontinuously to the mixed catalyst during the reaction, the continuous addition of the alkali metal salts of the carboxylic acids being between 0.1 and 400 ppm, advantageously between 1 and 100 ppm, of the carboxylic acid used. Even if oxygen- transferring redox systems are not required for the reaction according to the invention, the presence of such redox systems often leads to a further increase in conversion. The known organic and, in particular, inorganic redox systems, which are capable of accelerating the catalytic reaction by reversibly changing their oxidation levels under the reaction conditions, are suitable. Whether as appropriate Toggle organic redox systems: .en example, the salts of metals that can countries their valence state reversible AEN, called, for example those of copper, iron, rlangans, Gers, vanadium, antimony, lead, chromium, and titanium. In the present case, the copper and cerium salts are particularly preferred. Example 1 970 g of a silica carrier are impregnated with a solution of 40 g of bismuth nitrate in 735 ml of water and 67 ml of concentrated nitric acid. The dried supported catalyst is placed in a vessel with a 5 % strength potassium hydroxide solution . After the solid has settled, the supernatant potassium hydroxide solution is decanted off and replaced with water. Subsequently, the catalyst is filtered off with suction, dried, impregnated with a solution of 40 g of potassium acetate and 21.5 g of palladium acetate in 730 ml acetic acid and finally dried in vacuo at 500C. The finished mixed catalyst contains about 1.95 % by weight palladium diacetate, 6.5 % potassium acetate and 1.56 % bismuth in the form of acetates.

A mixture of 650 N1 nitrogen and 20 N1 oxygen is passed over the catalyst at 5 atmospheres pressure every hour, and the catalyst is heated to a temperature of 1700 ° C. over the course of one hour. During the heating process, 140 g acetic acid are added per hour to the gas stream after reaching a temperature of 1000 ° C. and 1600 N1 propylene per hour after reaching a temperature of 1300 ° C. When the catalyst is heated further to 170 ° C., the acetic acid feed is increased up to 2000 g per hour and then the oxygen feed is gradually increased to 196 N1 per hour over the course of 36 hours . A catalyst output of on average 245 g of allyl acetate per liter of contact and hour is obtained, which does not change even after 1000 hours of operation. The yield of allyl acetate, based on converted propylene, is 97 %; 3% of the converted propylene sit down to carbon dioxide and water.
