Aus
"Chemit---Ingenieur-Tochnik" 196',7, Seite 178, ist es bekannt, zum Zwecke
der Klärung oder Entwässerung von Schlämmen und.Trüben zwei. Flockungsmittel mit
verschiedenem Ionencharakter zu verwenden. Bekanntlich geben anionaktive organische
und anorganische Flockungsmittel mit kationaktiven hochmolekularen Flockungsmitteln
sowie mit Salzen von mehrwertigen Metallen Ausfällungen. Aus der DAS

Procedure for dosing flocculants ------------- : ------------------------------- ----- in sludge and sludge -------------------------------- From "Chemit --- Ingenieur-Tochnik "196 ', 7, page 178, it is known for the purpose of clarifying or dewatering sludge and turbidity two. To use flocculants with different ionic character. It is known that anion-active organic and inorganic flocculants with cation-active high-molecular flocculants and with salts of polyvalent metals give precipitates. It is known from DAS 1-225 608 and the magazine "Aufbereitungstechnik" 21 (1964), page 673, 1st paragraph, that a clarifying or dewatering-improving effect is achieved if this precipitation is present in the sludge or pulp generated. This is due to the fact that the finest particles, which aggravate the clarification and dewatering process, are included in the artificially produced, high-molecular, water-insoluble anion / cation precipitation.
Man
The components of opposite ionogenicity are added separately to the sludge or the pulp. either one after the other or at the same time, since precipitation occurs too early during premixing. If an anionic flocculant is first added to the sludge and then a cationic one, a good clarification of the upper water is obtained with a comparatively low sedimentation rate. In this case, even the finest particles are caused to settle. If the order is reversed, the opposite effect is achieved, namely the lowering speed is greater and the clarity of the headwater is clearly worse. The settling speed is determined in the following way: A standing cylinder made of glass with a diameter of 50 mm and a height of 320 mm is provided with two marks at 270 and 230 mm. The slurry is filled up to the upper mark, which corresponds to a volume of 270 ml. Now you add the flocculant. and stirs in a certain way for a certain time. The type and time of stirring are recorded. After the stirring is complete, a stop watch is operated and it is observed after how many seconds the 40 mm high space between the two marks has become clear. The values determined in this way, namely 40 mm / x sec., - are in mm / min. converted and referred to as the lowering speed. To determine the transparency of the clarified upper water, use a standing cylinder made of glass with a ground floor and a lateral drain cock above the floor. A sample of writing, e.g. black numbers 15 mm high on white paper, is placed under the floor. Clarified upper water is prepared by a flocculation test, which is obtained after standing for 3 minutes.
From this upper water one pours so much into the standing cylinder that one
in the case of side lighting when looking through from above, the writing sample cannot be seen
can. You can now drain off so much upper water through the tap on the side that the
The writing sample under the cylinder can just be recognized when looking through it from above
can.

It has been found that the disadvantages of the two addition series can be eliminated by first adding 1/8 to 1/2 of the required amount of the anionic replacing agent to the sludge or slurry, then adding the cationic component and then adding it the remainder, ie 7/8 to 1/2 of the amount of anionic flocculant required. A mixing and reaction time of a few seconds is provided between each addition. During this time the sludge must be kept moving so that the flocculant is well mixed with the sludge or slurry. The flocculants are added as aqueous solutions to the slurry or slurry. Example I Test material: Clay pulp with 20 g solids / 1 », grain size: 901% 40 microns, 80010 '20 microns The flocculants were added to a standing cylinder with a diameter of 50 mm while the bars were being stirred with a stirrer at 300 rpm. #.
