Description
The present invention relates to insulation parts made of polyethylene which is crosslinked by reaction with organic bisperoxides in the heat and relates to the use of a stabilizer combination in 1 insulation part. The invention offers particular advantages for cable insulation compounds which are made up of polyethylene with the addition of inorganic fillers.
It is already known to add stabilizers in the production of vernciziern polyethylene, wiw z. B. polymeric trimethyldihydroquinoline or phenolic · .: antioxidants such. B. 4,4'-thiobis (t-butyl-m-cresol), add. It is also known, de 's in the production of networked! Polyethylene in the presence of silicate fillers basic additives, such as. B. nitrogen-containing, heterocyclic compounds are necessary to enable a rapid and extensive course of the crosslinking reaction. Stabilizer combinations for polyethylene compositions are also known. With the known stabilizers or combinations, an improvement in the stability to oxidative influences is usually achieved, but such additives usually have a detrimental effect on the crosslinking process, which can lead to both a delayed reaction and a reduced degree of crosslinking. This influence is particularly evident when crosslinking polyethylene compounds, ie? are provided with inorganic fillers, in particular based on silicate, noticeably disturbing. When crosslinking filled insulating compounds based on high-pressure polyethylene, the use of polymeric trimethyldihydroquinoline has proven to be advantageous from the point of view of the course of the reaction and the degree of crosslinking that can be achieved, but this does not give the crosslinked insulating compound optimal stability against oxidative influences. With combinations of the known stabilizers, it has hitherto not been possible to achieve the desired stability and, at the same time, favorable technological effectiveness. The effectiveness of combinations of known stabilizers can usually not be foreseen.
It has now been found that an effective stabilizer combination for electrical insulating parts, in particular sheaths for conductors and cables, made of peroxide cross-linked, stabilized polyethylene then achieved when, according to the invention, a stabilizer combination of polymerized trimethyldihydroquinoline and zinc mercaptobenzimidazole is used. The combination according to the Et Finding is particularly advantageous in the crosslinking of polyethylene maize, which is made with so-called "Acidic fillers", especially silicatesii. are offset.
For the production of insulation compounds, in particular For the core insulation of high-voltage cables, polyethylene lower ones are particularly suitable Density, their melting behavior and flowability on the reactivity of the liisperoxide used and the necessary processing conditions for continuous vulcanization are particularly abtk are true. For this purpose they are in hand;., Not stabilized. High pressure polyethylene medium Molecular weight available. In addition to the known organic peroxy find the advantageous bisperoxides use. S ^ show a high percentage of peroxide and have both sufficient stability; when incorporating into the insulating compound as well a sufficiently high reactivity in continuous vulcanization.
Die besondere Stabilisatorwirkung der angegebenen Kombination ergibt sich aus den folgenden Beispielen:The stabilizer concentration used in the insulating part depends on the intended use of the polyethylene compound. Appropriately, however, amounts of 0.5 to 2 U 0 based on da ^ polyethylene are added to the insulating compound. As tests have shown, the proportion of the stabilizers mentioned trimethyldihydroquinoline and zinc mercaptobenzimidazole can be varied widely within the combination. However, it is particularly advantageous if the stabilizers are used in a ratio of 1: 2 parts by weight. The mixing of the stabilizer combination into the polyethylene compositions can be carried out by the usual methods, for. B. by incorporation on heated rollers, by mixing in from the solution or by dry mixing. They can be mixed in individually or together. The particular stabilizing effect of the specified combination results from the following examples:
Trimethyldihydrochinolin. Mit dieser Steigerung der thermi-A polyethylene composition containing 0.5 percent by weight of polymeric trimethyldihydroquinoline to which 2 ° o of an organic bisperoxide and 30 ° o of an annealed kaolin filler have been added shows, after it has been crosslinked under pressure at 170 ° C. and aged in a drying cabinet at 150 ° C. for 7 days partial staining, which is associated with a decrease in elongation at break by about 3 °, o. In contrast, in the case of a crosslinkable polyethylene mixture which, in addition to the above-mentioned structure of the insulating compound described above, also contains 1 percent by weight of zinc mercaptobenzimidazole, such stains do not occur after similar thermal stress. The breaking elongation decrease is application of the stabilizer combination still lO '/ o. A review of the time to occurrence of cracks at the sharp bending of 1 mm thick specimens after aging at 15O 0 C yielded a doubling of the crack-free time with concomitant use of the described, η Stabilizer combination compared to the sole use of polymeric trimethyldihydroquinoline. With this increase in thermal
B. decreases to 50% of the maximum value of the flowability within 8 minutes at 140 ° C. The dielectric properties of the crosslinked insulating compound are also not impaired by the use of the stabilizer combination compared to the sole use of one of the two antioxidants. Both the dielectric constant and the loss factor tan 5 and the volume resistance of the crosslinked insulating material and the good tracking resistance show practically the same property values when the combination is used as when the individual components of the mixture are used.
The effectiveness of the stabilizer combination according to the invention is not limited to the application limited in insulating wet, which are mixed with so-called "acidic fillers". she can et enfalis in unfilled, crosslinkable insulating wet Find application to which they have excellent resistance to thermal and oxidative Gives influences. Even if small amounts of carbon black are used, the effect of the stabilizer combination is increased not adversely affected.
