Description

Process for the production of heat-coagulating IMRräßniermise 1910n When impregnating fiber webs with aqueous binder dispersions, during of the drying process, especially with heavy nonwovens, a migration of the binder take place in the direction of heat supply.

Through this migrat-ion a depletion of the binding agent occurs, either on one side of the non-woven fabric, or in the middle if drying on both sides of the nonwoven fabric.

This migration phenomenon can be remedied by adding heat-coagulating additives to the latiaes, such as polyvinyl methyl ether (Lutonal M 40). This ether has the property of becoming insoluble in water at a higher temperature, it precipitates and pulls the dispersed plastic particles from the impregnation mixture with it. However, the sensitization temperature cannot be controlled with Lutonal. It has now been found that the following process can be used particularly safely (in terms of temperature control): The aqueous impregnation mixtures are normally made anion-active. They coagulate immediately when a cationic product is added. However, if a non-ionic product is added to the anion-active dispersion as a stabilizer, a cation-active product can be added at the same time. There are a number of non-ionic products that lose their effectiveness at different temperatures. When this temperature threshold is reached, the cation-active product has a precipitating effect on the anion-active impregnation mixture. IGO Tl. Solid non-ionic wetting agent (product LA 140) solid Cation-active wetting agent (Silastan DCI) le5 solid Aluminum sulfate 1 solid are adjusted to a solids content of 22 rio 'with water. (It should be noted that the cation-active product is added last to the mixture).

The LA 140 product loses its effectiveness at approx. 42 C. At this temperature, the above formulation coagulates. Example 2: By varying the amounts of cation and non-ionic product added, the coagulation temperature can be varied as desired: Polyacrylic ester (Acronal 30 D) 100 Tl. Product LA 140 (non-ionic) 6 Silastan DG (cation active) op88 Aluminum sulfate 1 are adjusted to a solids content of 20 % with water. This mixture coagulates at a temperature of 50 ° C.
