Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf Heißsehmelzklebstcl'fe. Sie
be-
zieht sich insbesondere rauf Keißschmelzklebstoffef die aus
wohlfeilen Materialien hergestellt werden kAnen und sich
zum Verbinden von eehr- verschiedenartigen Materiellen eig-
nen,
Heißschmelzklebstoffe ergeben eine Bindung lediglich durch
Abkühleng
was zu unterscheiden ist vom Vernetzen *Band von anderen chemischen Reaktionen,.

Das Beispiel 11-wurde wiederholt, jedoch zmrde die Destilla-
tion des Produktes bei 10 mm Hg und 33000 durchgeführt. Die
Analyae dda esee Harzes ergab, daß kein Ncetatgehalt vorhanden

Es neigte sich, daß Heißschmelzklebstoffe, die aus einem
Fornolite:-Harz hergestellt worden sind, das Aoetat enthä?
oder kein restlichen Acetat enthält, die gleichen Eigen-
schaften halben, Infolgedessen hat die Gegenwart oder Abwe=-
senhei t der Acetsagruppen ?:einen Einfluß auf die Erfindung
mit Ausnahme des im folgenden angegebenen Gehalten.- .
DiG fIa die erfindungsgemäßen Massen verwendeten Pormollte-
Harze sind weiterhin durch ihre Hexanlöslichkeit charakteri-
siert. Mde -Löslichkeit - besteht darin, daß
sich eine bei äübudü°'
temperatur unlösliche Hexanbdaktiön, eine irr kallem Hexan
unlösliche rraktioxa und eine in kaltem Hexan lösliche Praktion
bildet : .Um diese Eigenschaften zu identifizieren, wurde ein
Gemisch vorn 30 Gewo. ö 1iar z in lIexaxr unter ßückflue erhitzt

und es wurde dann bei Raumtemperatur 16 Stunden lang etehen-
gelaeseno Das Hexanlösungsmittel wurde von dem unlöslichen
-Material entfernt und das lösungsmittel auf 0o0 gekühlt. Nach
4 Stunden wird das Hexan vorn dem unlöslichen Nateriäl erneut
entfernt. Das unlösliche Material wird getzocknet und die

Harze mit einem Gehalt an restlichen Acetatgruppen, wie die--
jenigeng die nach den Beispielen 1 und 2 hergestellt worden
sind, enthielten einen größeren Prozenteatz van bei Raumtem-
peratur in Hexan.uhlöslichen Anteilen, als Harz®fl die keine
restlichen Acetatgruppen besitzen. Man kann annehmen, daß
die Gegenwart von Aoetatgruppen in Molekülen, dIe ßonst he:?-
xanlöslich wärena diesen HolekUlen eine erhöhte Unlöslichkei.t.
verleiht.
Für die. vorliegende Erfindung wurden die Löslichkeitseigen-
schuften für Formolite-Harze in Heran nur-an den acetatfrgien
Harzen ermittelt: Acetatgruppen können aus Formolite-Harzen
leicht durch erneute Daetillatißi entsprechend dem Beispiel
III oder durch 30 Minuten langes Erhitzen des Harzes auf etwa
330o0 entfernt werden.
Füg die Zwecke der vorliegenden Erfindung im allgemeinen ge-
eignete
besitzen 5 - 65 Gewo-
Teile von in Hexen bei Raumtemperatur unlöslichen Bestandtei-
len, 5 -° 30 Gewo-Teile von in kaltem Hexen (0®C) unlöslichen
Anteilen und 30 - 70 Gew,-Teile von in kaltem Hexen (0°C)
löelichen Bestandteilen.
Die Herstellung von Äthylen--Yinylacetat-Mi®chpolymersaten
ist bekannt. Sie ist z, Ho beschrieben 5.n der USA-Patentschrift
2 2®Q 429 und in :der kanadischen Patentschrift 6.57 977. Im.
allgemeinen wird :hierzu eine Mischung von Äthylen und Vi-
nylacetat mit Hilfe eines Radikalkatalynatorswie Sauer>
etoff oder einem -organiEschen Per-)xyd" bei einem Druck von
100c 200 Atmosphären und einer Temperatur vorn 150 - .250°C
mischpolymerisiert, worauf das Reaktioneprodukt isoliert
wird. Der :Anteil an yinylacetat in dem Mischpolymer scheint
wichtig zu sein: Da Heßsohmelzklsbatoffe eine längere Topf--
.zeit und schnelle Abbindezeiten besitzen müssen, sind
die
Anforderungen an ein stabiles :homogenes Gemisch kritisch.
Der Heißechm®lzklabstoff wird hergestellt durch gründliches
Vermischen der Bestandteile bei einer Temperatur im Be-
reich von 95 m 20400 (2Q0 ® 4000P) und vorzugsweise von 149
1770 (300 - 35002)Q
Zum Aufbringen auf eine Oberfläche wird der Klebstoff auf
eine Temperatur im-Bereich von 121 ® 1i7°0 (250 m 350°F)
er-
hitzt und y auf die Oberfläche aufgebracht, die in
einer geeig-
neten Weise verbunden bzw: verklebt werden soll:
Geeignete relative Mengen der Bestandteile liegen bei etwa
25 bis etwa 65 Gewo%: Äthylen-Vinylacetat-Mäschpolymer und:
etwa 3:5 bis etwa 75 Gew,5 o aromatischem Kohlenwasserstoff®
Aldehyd#Harz.
Heißschmelzklebstoffe können hinsichtlich ihrer allgemeinen
Anwendbarkeit durch zwei einfache Versuche mit Kraftpapier
genau geprüft bzw. ausgesucht werden.
Der erste ist der Reiß-Yexbindungavereucho Die Probe wird
aus einem 2297 kg (50 pounde) Kraftpapier in 2,5 x 1592
cm
(1 x 6 Zoll) große. Streifen geschnitten. Ein Streifen wird
auf einer@einzigen Seite auf eine Läge von 591 am (2 Zoll)
