Änderung des festgestellten Lichtwertes ist ein Maß für die gespeicherte Information;

range to change Magnetization states. The invention generally provides a re: ustreduction scheme for magneto-optical readout devices with magnetic storage media, in which the magnetization state corresponding to the stored information is itself modulated or changed to produce a modulated component of the light reflected from the storage media, which changes according to the stored information and when queried, a readout signal corresponding to the information is displayed. The storage media can be conventional magnetic storage films or storage tapes, whereby the reading is brought about by determining the change in the light value when: the magnetization state is disturbed or changed by external interrogation means, such as a magnetic field, locally supplied heat or mechanical tension. The query can be either periodic or aperiodic. Furthermore, the official reading can be either destructive or destructive. The change in the determined light value is a measure of the stored information; In a binary system <the light value for an "1" bit differs from the light value for: a "zero" bit, so that detection and reading is possible. According to a particular embodiment of the invention: a special storage medium is used, which has a heterogeneous structure and consists, for example, of a substrate and materials applied in a certain configuration with low and large goerzitivkrait to form a storage area and a readout area in the medium. The information is stored in the memory area, which in turn is coupled to the readout area via a field in order to bring about a similar magnetization grid in the latter area. In such a storage medium with two materials, a coupling mechanism, such as a magnetostatic interaction or an exchange interaction between the storage and readout areas of the storage medium, must exist so that there is a clear relationship between the magnetization or the spiral configurations of the areas. In addition, the effective coupling field between the two areas must be smaller than the governing force of the storage area and greater than the governing force of the read-out area. A modulating alternating magnetic field is impressed on the storage medium in order to modulate the magnetization in the readout area without influencing the magnetism range in the storage area. With such a modulation of the magnetization in the memory area and when the signals are detected in a frequency band whose center frequency is the frequency of the magnetization modulation, the read-out signal obtained during the readout is only a function of the change in magnetization. The influence of other light sources is not included in the reading. The magneto-optical readout system according to the invention represents an improved system because the noise: as a result of surface imprecision and light scattering is largely reduced. This leads to a significant improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio in the magneto-optical readout system. By modulating the magnetization states in the storage medium, it is therefore easily possible to distinguish the light reflected by the inaccuracies from the light reflected by the magnetization, so that the reading is not influenced by noise: Further features and details of the invention are also given the following description of exemplary embodiments based on the figures. 1 shows a schematic block diagram of a device according to the invention; FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of part of a storage medium according to the invention in the form of a three-layer structure; rig. 3 and 4 each a perspective view of a further exemplary embodiment of the storage medium according to the invention; Fig. 6 is a graphical representation of the transfer function of an analyzer of the device according to Fig. 4, which in relation to a selected reference position to an angle. ® is set; 7 and 8 each show a series of signal forms which indicate different types of implementation of the inventive concept, with longitudinal alternating nodulation fields being used; FIGS. Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment

formation in the form of selected magnetization components
which is recorded. With this medium 2 is a

states of magnetization recorded by the medim
modulate or change. The query facility can

to bring the medium 2 to act. A source of light
6, such as a zaser, directs a beam of light
on the medium 2. A light reflector 8 receives the from
Medium 2 reflected component of the light. According to the
Invention , the magnetic recorded in medium 2
status as a function of the query by the
Interrogator 4 modulated or changed, whereby
the light detector 8 by a Magnetisierungsaustand which is a "1" digit), differs received modulated light from the modulated light, which is a "zero" -Digit) is received from another magnetization state (which is un-. Therefore , the determination of the modulated component of the reflected (or emitted via the Paraday) light results in a display of the magnetization states and thus a reading of the stored information. In the figures described below, embodiments or applications of the inventive concept are shown. 73g. 2 shows a first magnetic storage medium 10 in a Yorm Dreischiohtenstruktur, ches among other things, the performance of a WEL erfindungsgemä9en magneto-optical readout device improved. ** 'This medium has a heterogeneous structure, the heterogeneity being caused by # ... chiohten from different materials . The medium 10 comprises a substrate 11 of a material such as plastic beispiels-, a memory 12 and a sealing off leseashicht 14, the latter two layers are separated by a nonmagnetic Abetandsschicht 16 from each other overall. The magnetic information to be stored is recorded in the storage layer 12 by means of a magnetic recording head (not shown), for example. The storage layer 12 consists of a magnetic material with a relatively high coercive force, which is denoted by Hcs. The readout layer 14, with which the magnetic information can be reproduced, for example by the magnetic optics Kerr effect described in the above-mentioned patent , consists of magnetic material with a relatively small coercive force, which is denoted by Her. The storage layer 12 should be sufficiently thick so that in the state of magnetization it generates a magnetic coupling field h in the corresponding areas of the readout layer 14, which is sufficient to magnetize the last- mentioned layer. The coercive force Hcs the storage layer 12 is to be so large, that does not lead to an effective input accommodated modulation Steld Ha to irrevers- aiblen changes in their magnetization. lndererseite coercive force Hcs should however not be so great that the recording of information is difficult. The coercive force Her and the thickness of the readout layer 14 0011 must be so small that this layer can easily be magnetized by the coupling field h of the storage layer 12. In the case of the storage medium 10, a storage layer 12 can be
for example from a medium cobalt phosphor alloy

reading layer 14 is formed on the non-magnetic layer 16
applied and can for example from Pesalloy with

Fig. 3 shows another heterogeneous structure in Pormr
of layers, made of materials of different co-
eritivkraft, whereby it is the coupling field between
the memory-. and readout layer not into the magneto
static interaction, but rather an exchange
interaction. This recording shown in Fig. 3
Nuugemediurn 10 # is made up of a substrate 111 and a
dfirauf @raehte storage layer 12 'made of magneti @ -
ecliGm 1-laterally formed, whereby the magnetic
see material around ferromagnetic, ferrimagnetic, or antiferromagnetic material: it may seem that it has a relatively high coercive force. A readout layer 14 'made of magnetic material with a relatively low coercive force Her is applied directly to the storage layer 12'. The magnetization of the readout layer 14 'is brought about by the adjacent storage layer 12' due to the aforementioned exchange interaction, the spin configuration of the storage layer in the vicinity of the readout layer of low coercive force determining the spin configuration and thus the magnetization state of this readout layer 14 '. The magnetization states -M, + M and -M shown can represent a "zero", "1" and "zero" hit. The modulation field Ha represented by an arrow 19 'can for example be a longitudinal field. For example, cobalt, iron, nickel and corresponding compounds can be used as ferromagetic material; one of the various ferrites, such as magnetite (Fe 304) , for example, and the antiferromagnetic material Cr203, -, L-Fe 203 and Ni0 come into consideration as a ferromagnetic material.
heterogener Zusammensetzung entsteht,
die auf einem
Substrat 11" aufgebracht ist. Auf diese Weise wird eine
Ausleseschicht
20 als Teilabr Schicht 18 gebildet, wobei
die Speicher-"Schicht"
in Form von Partikeln 22 vorge-
sehen ist, welche die Ausleseschicht
20 über ihren Qurschnitt durchsetzen. Die Ausleseschicht 20 besteht aus
einem
Material relativ geringer Koerzitivkraft, während die Speicherpartikel
22 aus ferromagnetischem, ferrimagnetischem oder antiferromagnetischem
Material be-
stehen. Das Koppelfeld zwischen den Speicherpartikeln
22
Austauschwechselwirkung.
Die Magnetisierungazustände -M,
+M und -M nach Rig. 4 können
ein "Null"-, "10- und
"Null"-Bit bilden. Das durch einen Pfeil 19"

Die Feststellung des Magnetisierungszuatandea und damit
der gespeicherten Information in der Speiohersohicht 12
des Mediums
10 kann unter Verwendung einer konventionel-
len magnetooptischen
Auslesevorrichtung 25 vorgenommen werden, wie sie in Fig.
5 dargestellt ist. Obwohl die
folgenden Erläuterungen aus Zweclomäßigkeitagründen
in
Verbindung mit dem Speichermedium 10 gemäß Fig.
2 ge-
Fig. 4 ersetzbar ist.
breitem Spalt vorgesehen. Dieser Mag-
netkopf 44 kann so orientiert
werden, daß das magneti-
sche Modulationsfeld Ha transvereal oderlongitudinal

In this way, a readout layer 20 is formed as a partial layer 18, the storage "layer" being provided in the form of particles 22 which penetrate the readout layer 20 over their cross-section . The readout layer 20 is made of a material of relatively low coercivity, whereas the storage particles are sawn from ferromagnetic, ferrimagnetic or antiferromagnetic material 22nd The coupling field between the storage particles 22 and the update layer 20 corresponds to that of the storage medium 109 according to Rig. 3, ie it is an exchange interaction. The magnetization states -M, + M and -M according to Rig. "10, and" zero "bit form by the arrow 19." Presented ones shown, Modulationafeld Ha is a longitudinal field - 4, a "zero" can. The determination of the Magnetisierungszuatandea and therefore the information stored in the Speiohersohicht 12 of the medium 10 can be made 25, as shown in Fig. 5 by using a conven- tional magneto-optical readout device. Although the following explanations of Zweclomäßigkeitagründen in connection with the storage medium 10 of FIG. 2 makes overall, it should be noted that this medium 10 replaced by the medium 101 and / or the media 10 "in FIG. 3 and / or Fig. 4 According to the invention, an alternating magnetic modulation field Ha of predetermined frequency, which can vary in the range from, for example, 100 Hz to many MHz, is applied to the magnetic storage medium 10. The peak value Hp of the field Ha is compared to the value Her and the coupling field h between the layers 12 and 14 is sufficiently large so that the readout layer 14 is magnetized in the direction of the field Ha. However, the aforementioned peak value is sufficiently small compared to the value Hcs that the information stored in the storage layer 12 is not disturbed The effective effect of the modulation alternating field Ha consists in a modulation of the magnetization in the readout layer 14, which is its e already brings about a modulation of the output signal of the magneto-optical readout device. The Modulation®feld Ha is dependence with respect to direction and time intervals so made to act, that the AC component of the output signal of the msgietooptischen initial reading device for different stored in the storage layer 12 Informations of bits, as examples, a "1" - and "zero" binary digits, differing in either phase or amplitude. The largely conventional magneto-optical readout device 25 comprises, for example, a high-energy light source 24 which emits a light beam via a polarizer 26 and a collecting lens 28, after which this beam is focused on the surface of the medium 10 . The beam is reflected from the medium 10 into an objective lens 30 and sent via an analyzer 32 into a light detector, such as a photodetector 36, for example. The electrical signal generated by the photodetector 36 is given to an output terminal 40 via a band-pass filter 30. This band-pass filter 38 results in a mode of operation of the device 25 in which only signals in a certain frequency band are detected, the center frequency of which is the frequency of the biagnetic modulation. According to the invention, the readout device 25 furthermore contains a modulation alternation source 42 which is coupled to a device for impressing its signal with the medium] D in the form of the magnetic modulation field ua. An embodiment of this device is shown in the device. 5, a magnetic head 44 with a wide gap is provided. This magnetic head 44 can be oriented in such a way that the magnetic modulation field Ha is impressed transvereally or longitudinally to the magnetization states. The magneto-optical readout device 25 according to FIG. 5 is capable of a discriminator effect against noise which results from scattering rotations of the plane of polarization as a result of surface inaccuracies and scattering amplitude changes; this discriminator effect results. is based on the fact that only amplitude - # Changes in the frequency band with the high-frequency carrier

Harmonics. The signal train 90 according to FIG. 9b represents the longitudinal component of the magnetization for a "zero" bit, which oscillates between the value -Ms and zero. This longitudinal component of the magnetization assumes the value -Ms when the applied field Ha is equal to zero. This state of affairs is indicated by a broken line 91 wieclac. According to FIG. 9c, a signal train 92 reproduces the longitudinal component of the magnetization for a "1" bit, which oscillates between zero and the value W.Ms. This longitudinal component of the magnetization is equal to the value + M2 when the applied field Ha is equal to zero. A dashed line 93 shows for the maximum value of the impressed field Ha that the "zero" bit signal train 90 and the "1" bit signal train 92 are equal to zero at this point in time. The "zero" bit and the "1" bit are therefore represented by output signals which, as signal trains 90 and 92 show, are shifted in phase from one another. The output signals can be determined by a conventional phase detector (not shown) which is part of the magneto-optical readout device 25. 9 and 10 show the representation of the magnetization in the readout layer, specifically the direction of magnetization at the time of saturation. Difference. The present invention is not restricted to the exemplary embodiments described. For broadband applications it is, for example, advantageous to use a modulation field Ha of a relatively high frequency, while for other purposes a modulation field Ha of a very low frequency in the order of 100 Hz can be advantageous. Although the relationships according to FIGS. 8, 9 and 12 have been described in connection with a three-layer storage medium 10 according to FIG. 2 and a magnetostatic coupling effect, the explanations also apply to media 101 and / or 10 ″ with an exchange interaction as a coupling effect. Instead of the longitudinal Kerr effect, other magneto-optical effects, such as the Faraday effect and transversal effects, can also be used, whereby the drawing causing the reading is not reflected by the medium, but is radiated through it. Instead of a binary system, a Analog system based on analog information readout can be used.
