Description
The invention relates to a lime-based coated welding electrode with a core wire made of a nickel-iron-chromium alloy and a sheath Carbonates, fluorides, metal oxides, deoxidizing and desulfurizing agents, Fluxes and other alloy components, as well as the use of this electrode for welding special steels.
Material tests recently carried out on containers for liquid gases have the use of 9% nickel steel, i. H. of a steel that complies with the ASTM regulation A-353-58 is found to be desirable, this steel in the normalized, double hardened or tempered condition a tensile strength of 71 to 83 kp / mm2, combined with a notched impact strength of over 3.5 kgm of a Charpy V sample (10 - 10 mm) at -196 ° C. Furthermore, the advantageous connection is a relative high structural strength with a satisfactory impact strength with 9 ° / jgem nickel steel not significantly affected by the heat of the welding process, and so far there have been satisfactory welded joints with welding electrodes achieved which a weld deposit of 75% nickel, 15% chromium and 7% iron with Niobium surrender. This weld metal has a high notched impact strength of 7 to 8.5 kgm of a Charpy V sample (10-10 mm) with only a slightly reduced tensile strength from 66 to 74kp / mm2. However, such electrodes are because of the high alloy content of the core wires and the high cost of manufacturing such core wires expensive. Therefore, there is an increasing need for cheaper electrodes with high Notched impact strength that make it possible to use a 9 ° / jgen nickel steel with its advantageous to take full advantage of its high strength. A cheaper electrode can be used win by reducing the nickel content and increasing the iron content. but if such a weld metal also has an excellent notched impact strength of 7 to 10 kgm of a Charpy V sample (10 - 10 mm) at -196 ° C, its specific Tensile strength decreased.
A covered welding electrode has become known through Austrian patent specification 201 966 , the core wire of which consists of a nickel-chromium-iron alloy containing 1.5 to 5% niobium, 0.5 to 7% molybdenum and 0.75 Contains up to 4% manganese to reduce or eliminate cracking of the weld metal when exposed to heat. The carbon content of the core wire alloy is up to about 0.15%. Such an electrode also does not produce a weld metal which has a particularly high tensile strength and notched impact strength.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a coated welding electrode to create the tensile strength of a nickel-iron-chromium weld deposit, in particular at high and low temperatures, noticeably improved.
In nachfolgender
Although the electrodes according to the invention are particularly suitable for welding 9% nickel steel, they are also very useful for welding steels with low creep strength and with an expansion coefficient between 0 and 500 ° of up to 15-10-B per ° C, such as steel with 1% chromium and 0.501, molybdenum or 2.250 / 0 chromium and 1% molybdenum or 5% chromium and 0.5% molybdenum, the remainder iron, which are suitable for use up to 600 ° C and made of fully austenitic chromium Nickel steels with high creep strength, including steel with over 50 0 (o nickel.
In view of the fact that there is some chromium in the welding process, Manganese, silicon, niobium and carbon as a result of oxidation and / or volatilization is lost, the electrode will have a slightly larger proportion of these elements as needed, included.
