Description
The invention relates to a method for obtaining fiber-free micro-cellulose crystallite aggregates in powder form from cellulose crystallite aggregates,
To simplify the language, the words cellulose crystallite aggregates are used in the following explanations abbreviated by CKA and micro-cellulose crystallite aggregates by MCKA.
The production of fiber-free CKA and MCKA can be assumed to be known (French Patent 1194,486 and the references cited therein). Basis of obtaining the CKA is the treatment of native or regenerated cellulose by acid hydrolysis under conditions which lead to a substantially uniform average degree of polymerization. It will here the fibrous, amorphous components are removed. The cellulose thus obtained lies in the form of CKA, which are freed from the acid by washing in an aqueous medium. To get MCKA, the CKA are crushed with or without prior drying in an aqueous medium (cf. aucli German Auslegeschrift 1123 460).
You can now increase the solids content in the aqueous medium and convert the dispersion into a gel. With increasing solids content one obtains a paste-like mass and finally a mass, which is dry to the touch, but not dry in the true sense of the word, since it still has a certain Contains portion of the dispersant.
The invention is based on the object of obtaining MCKA in a form in which it is not only dry appear but are actually a dry powder. The need for such a dry Powder is particularly suitable for use in the food and luxury food industry as a filler, because cellulose is not absorbed by the human body and, as a result, is not thick power. It has been shown that the MCKA, which only appears dry, is difficult to achieve can be incorporated homogeneously into the mass of the food or luxury food, so that, as said, the task arose to preserve the MCKA as an actual dry powder. One would have start from dried CKA and can crush it mechanically. But such a microgrinder is expensive; the grinding process would take a relatively long time. the The invention therefore takes a different approach, namely the comminution process as before in to lay an aqueous medium, but then subsequently the MCKA formed in this way by freeze-drying to be separated from the aqueous medium. So the desired dry powder is divided into two Steps gained, in a first step, in which the CKA is crushed in the aqueous medium to MCKA be, and a second step in which this MCKA by freeze-drying from the aqueous Medium can be deposited in powder form.
The invention relates to a process for the production of fiber-free micro-cellulose crystallite aggregates in powder form from cellulose crystallite aggregates produced by acid hydrolysis of cellulose are obtained under conditions which lead to an essentially uniform degree of polymerization, which after hydrolysis is freed from the acid by washing and then in one aqueous medium are comminuted in such a way that at least 1% of the crystallite aggregates have a particle size of less than 1 μ, characterized in that the micro-cellulose crystallite aggregates thus formed separated as a powder from the aqueous medium by freeze-drying known per se will.
It has been shown that in this way with little grinding and time expenditure a powder with a very low bulk density, about 0.157 g / cem, which is soft and porous and creates a pleasant mouthfeel. However, the field of food and luxury foods is not that only area of application of the powder. There are a number of other cases when there is a need for one dry powder is composed of MCKA. This powder is new and valuable in cellulose technology Product.
