punkt unseres Gedankens bildenden Dünnechioht-Kaltkathode
ist das folgende:
Auf eine Metallunterlage wird eine sehr dünne -

dieser "xaraen" Elektronen ohne Anprall - also ohne Energie-

Das Austreten der Elektronen in das Vakuum ist da-
mit bedingt, dass ihre Fergie grösaer ist! als die Auetritte-

beiden Elektroden einer minimal der Austrittsarbeit

Among these, the cathode currently has a silver

The basic idea of ärtindung is dsring that using the currently under development for other purposes related construction and working principles of Dünnsohioht cold cathodes are made such photocathode kannp whose cutoff wavelength gröseor than that of all known photocathodes is. The construction and working principle of the initial
point of our thought-forming thin-carbon cold cathode
is the following:
A very thin -
generally a thickness of 5o - 15o g owning - isolieren-

and on this a similar thin metal layer by means of varnish
kuumsutdaspiturg or applied on an electrolytic bed.

a composition of Al - A1203 9 with the aluminum
The A1203 is applied on a minium basis by anodic oxidation

Then on the applied thin metal layer

The escape of the electrons into the vacuum is there-
conditionally, that her Fergie is bigger! than the exit
work of the metal layer. This means that between the
two electrodes of a minimally equal work function
tension must prevail. In ? All of aluminum is this

It is now assumed that the cathode - in
äig. 1 falls in the direction of the arrows - iioht. That pulls
penetrates without great loss through the very thin metal layer 1 and through the dielectric layer 2 and is absorbed in the base metal. The excited by the light elec- trons may occur in the dielectric $ if their Enet # -gie is greater than the height of between the base metal 3 and the Dielektrumgrenze 2 formed potential barrier 4. The height thereof is substantially determined by the material quality of the metals 3 and the Dielektrikume 2 specific and may have the same function of a variety of value. This value can be a few eV, but in certain cases it can also be almost zero. When the metal 3 for example, a Goldsohioht and the dielectric, a intrinsio (inward) germanium ISTG so the height of the potential barrier is o925 eV its believed that the surface state of the germanium, which effects and can from the effects of this value both erhöhenp decrease - in the first Approach came to be apart . This value results from the difference in the work function between the gold and the germanium. The electrons entering the dielectric 2 arrive at an accelerator exit and some of them exit through the metal layer 1 into the vacuum .

In the case of germanium , the relatively large strength in connection with the loss of light is not a problem because of the poor infrared absorption of the germanium.
