KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The present invention aims to save heat and make greater use of heat
spent or the amount of heat lost in previous drying devices.
This happens primarily because the troughs are only on that side
are heated, on which the material to be dried is mainly located according to the direction of rotation of the drum
accumulates, while the other side BEZW only through heat conduction. by catching
the heat given off to the outside by the heated wall is heated.
For the greatest possible use of the heat radiated from the heated wall, the other side of the trough is provided with ribs m , which counteract the heat moving past by means of air flow in the movement and force the same to heat the ribs BEZW. to serve the other half of the trough. The air flow is generated by a controllable amount of air inlet so that fresh air is supplied in accordance with the heated air that is extracted.
Seite angebrachten Rippen m stattfinden.
Ι shows a longitudinal section through the drying device, Fig. 2 shows a cross section. From Fig. 2 it can be seen that the trough k is only double-walled on one side for heating, while the other side has heating ribs of a known type. A seal that is as tight as possible, which is established between the housing and the upper edge of the double-walled trough k , cuts off the upward path of the air heated by the heat radiating from k , and only an exchange of air from under the trough to and from the on the other side attached ribs take place m. These ribs will offer resistance to the heated air that is only drawn off upwards on this side and will form heat-absorbing surfaces. The heat absorbed by the latter is released back inside. The ribs m therefore serve as a heating element for the material to be dried. For the purpose of supplying fresh air, openings s are made in the housing wall adjoining the heated trough side, the slides t of which are set depending on the amount of air supply. To avoid the outflow of heated air, the partition wall u is installed so that the fresh air now takes the path indicated by arrows. The air flow is supported by the steam exhaust pipe ν. In the case of multi-cavity devices, all of the higher troughs are provided with ribs of this type so that they also act as heating elements in this way. The hot air rising from the ribs m mixes with the steam rising from the dry material. Together with this, it will always give off part of its heat to the ribs of the next higher trough, since a direction of movement is prescribed for it through the trough connection, and then leave the drying device fully utilized. This direction of movement of the heated air is achieved by installing appropriate guide walls between each two
