Das Ueberziehen von Leder mit einem glänzenden Ueberzug bot bisher dadurch besondere Schwierigkeiten, dafs entweder alle hierzu benutzten Anstrich- bezw. Ueberzugsmassen mit der Zeit abbröckelten oder ein kostspieliges Herstellungsverfahren, welches lange Zeit in Anspruch nahm,, voraussetzten. Es hat sich nun gezeigt, dafs man auf eine ganz einfache Weise Leder mit einem recht haltbaren Glanzüberzug versehen kann, wenn man es mit einer dicken Celluloidlösung, wie solche in verdünntem Zustand unter dem Namen Zapon im Handel ist, behandelt. Durch einfaches oder mehrmaliges Ueberstreichen mit einer solchen Lösung kann man Ueberzüge von hohem Glanz erzielen, während man bei nur einmaligem Ueberziehen mit dem überall käuflichen Zaponlack keinen Glanz erhält. Um nun gerade dieses Verfahren des Ueberstreichens wirksamer und schneller zu gestalten, empfiehlt es sich, die im Handel befindliche dünne Zaponlösung durch eine möglichst hochprocentige dicke zu ersetzen, die nicht unter 6 pCt. Pyroxylin enthält.
