Den Gegenstand vorliegender Erfindung bildet ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Knüpfarbeiten. Das Neue dieses Verfahrens besteht darin, dafs die Noppen reihenweise mit einander verknüpft und die so gewonnenen Noppenreihen sodann vernäht werden, wodurch sich die Verwendung einer Stoffunter- j lage erübrigt. Die Noppenreihen werden entsprechend dem Muster hergestellt, indem die Maschen in einfacher sowie verschiedener Farbenstellung aufgelegt, verknüpft und die Endfäden vernäht werden. Die einzelnen Noppenreihen werden unter einander durch Durchziehung von Bindfaden, Wolle oder Garn zusammengehalten. Durch diese Neuerung ist man im Stande, die feinsten Smyrnateppiche ohne Stoffunterlage nur durch Verarbeitung der aufgelegten Noppen, welche an einander genäht oder geknüpft werden, herzustellen. Zwecks gröfserer Haltbarkeit können die auf diese Weise hergestellten Waaren noch dadurch verstärkt werden, dafs die Noppenpole durch die Maschen eines wei
