The government should issue lower alcohol ‘safe limits’ to older people, according to the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The college’s older people’s substance misuse working group chair Ilana Crome said this group has less robust metabolic systems and physiological features than younger adults. Lack of monitoring and support was making older people ‘invisible addicts’, she said.
