1,2) vorgeschrieben.
Cerium-mischmetal-iron flints, which are produced by casting and have a relatively high content of Cu, Mg and Zn, have long been proven in use. Such flints are easy to machine, they have a smooth surface and, due to their Cu content, they are highly corrosion-resistant. The addition of Mg creates a closed sparkle and lowers the specific weight. These significant advantages of such alloys have hitherto not been able to be exploited in the manufacture of extruded flints because these alloys were considered difficult or impossible to press. According to the state of the art, either a low Cu content (maximum 0.45%) [cf. German patents 1017 506, 1017 507 1 or, in addition to a maximum of 0.35% copper, a maximum weight ratio Zn: Mg (in German patent 1019 949 <1.2) is prescribed. In the Austrian patent specification 221819, alloys with a high content of Cu and / or Zn (0.3 to 20/0); but can be pressed without Mg.
It has now been found that Ce (MM) -Fe alloys are also extruded
let that contain more than 0.450 / 0 Cu as well as significant proportions of Zn and Mg
included, with the weight ratio mentioned in German patent specification 1019 949
Zn: Mg <1.2 can be exceeded.
The invention relates to the use of a pyrophoric alloy of 10 to 300 /, iron, 1 to 5010 magnesium, 0.5 to 50/0 zinc and / or cadmium, 0.45 to 1.501, copper, the remainder cerium mixed metal as a material for extruded Flints. Flints which can be used according to the invention can contain impurities which inadvertently get into the alloy during manufacture. The zinc content of alloys which can be used according to the invention can be replaced entirely or partially by cadmium.
Vorzugsweise bestehen erfindungsgemäß verwendbare Legierungen aus
15 bis 250/, Fe, 2 bis 4"/, Mg, 0;5 bis 20/0 Zn und/oder Cd, 0,5 bis 0,80/0 Cu,
Rest Cer-Mischmetall.
Alloys which can be used according to the invention preferably consist of
15 to 250 /, Fe, 2 to 4 "/, Mg, 0; 5 to 20/0 Zn and / or Cd, 0.5 to 0.80 / 0 Cu,
Remainder cerium mischmetal. It is also advantageous if the weight ratio in these alloys
Zn: Cd is between 1/3 and 3.
verwendbare Legierungen. Thus, according to the invention, a wide range of pyrophoric alloys for flints with largely changeable, valuable properties can be made usable by means of extrusion, a process known to be technologically advantageous.
In the examples, the proportion of Fe and, with the exception of No. 11, also of Mg, was kept at the same level in order to clearly show the effect of the additions of Zn, Cd and Cu. However, these alloys are only examples of alloys which can be used according to the invention.
Examples 1 to 4 and 5 to 9 show how the compression pressure
changes with the ratio of Zn: Cd. Examples 10 and 11 deal with alloys
with high Zn content to show that even with extreme compositions within
the specified limits the alloys can still be pressed. In general is
but a lower Zn content is preferable.
