The invention relates to a method and a device for electrostatic recording of information, in particular an electronic control for electrostatic pens.
In electrostatic recording, there are the steps of pressing, coloring and fixing carried out. When printing, the recorded information is printed on a recording tape with high resistivity recorded in the form of electrostatic images. After that, when coloring ίο the charged surface is made visible by applying a finely divided developer, d. H. developed, whereby this substance is electrostatically attracted by the previously charged surface particles will. The third optional step is to fix the toner or developer to the latent image of the recording medium. This step can involve heating one for this purpose a special coating provided recording sheet and / or in the action of a pressure ao roll insist on the powder pictures.
The size and shape of an electrostatic image created on a recording medium by controlling a pen is a function of composite variables, to which the variable »5 and shape of the electrodes used, the polarity of the applied voltage and the electrical Field strength in the air gap between the pen and the pad of the electrode belong.
If an electrostatic recording method is selected that has a high resolution is desired, e.g. B. with facsimile systems, line or strip writing, etc., there is a problem in the expansion of the applied charge image, caused by the dimensions of the pen. Such expansion of the charge images often leads to an overlap of these images, if quickly successive pulses are to be recorded. This overlap is due to the expansion the charge patterns due to the pen dimensions limit the resolution of a writing device strong one. This means that the possibility of rapidly successive pulses as recording separate charge images is reduced. This scattering effect can be reduced by reducing the Dimensions of the pen can be reduced somewhat, but this solution is practical Limits of the minimum size of a pen, of course, are limited.

sowie eine Einrichtung zu dessen Durchführung zu schaffen, wobei die scheinbare oder effektive Größe des Schreibstiftes in Aufzeichnungsrichtung geringer ist als die tatsächliche physikalische Größe.as well as to provide a means for its implementation, being the apparent or effective size of the pen in the recording direction is smaller than the actual physical size.
For a method of electrostatic recording of information that a pen in In the form of pulses, the invention achieves this object on a recording medium in that the pen each time a recording pulse of a first polarity is fed to its movement over the recording medium made of non-conductive material and that it a second pulse (erase pulse) of opposite polarity is supplied while part of the dated The charge transferred to the recording medium by the recording pulse is still in the pen located under the stylus, eliminating essentially all of the charges of the first polarity that are are still under the pen.
The invention improves the resolving power of electrostatic writers, since the effect the expansion of charge images due to pen dimensions is reduced. Der Ladungsbild infolge der Schreibstiftabmessung W Areas of the recorded image is influenced, the magnet 18 is with its the recording medium an image deterioration caused by scattering effects 11 facing pole with a so-called magnet. In this way, as can be seen from the following brush 19, which is made clear from a mixture of the description, the recording iron filings and finely divided pigmented voltage can be made with a pen of finite width and consists of 5 synthetic resin particles. The synthetic resin particles, while a quality is achieved at the same time, generally referred to as toner, are electrostatically limited in contact with the iron filings of a small width, as was previously only attributed to a pen. Charged to a predominant polarity, the device for carrying out the inventively that of the method according to the invention by the pen 16 is designed such that io generated latent charge is provided on the recording a circuit arrangement which is opposite to the carrier 11. When the magnetic brush generates an erasing pulse and feeds it to the pen, 19 over a part of the surface of the previously deposited image and so that the erasing pulse is carried directly onto the back latent image, the edge of the recording medium follows. In the process, synthetic resin particles are attracted to it and the aforementioned charge reversal also adhere directly to it as a visible image. As described, after the recording pulse, as a result of which such a writer can be used, for example, for a simple way of avoiding the scattering effects of simile recording, with a required time-correct control resulting. Furthermore, the facsimile transmitter is operated in the usual manner. Further features and advantages of the invention are pulse generator 17 with the known image and are actuated from the following description of execution ao control signals. Adjacent short pulses 20 and 21 with the respective F i g. 6 shows a circuit arrangement for generating a length t x as well as a longer pulse 22 with the recording length U designed according to the invention. The pulses have a negative voltage pulse, polarity and an amplitude of 500 to 1000 V. Depending on the arrangement according to F i g. 6 generated pulse and. The effect of this quenching or neutralization inductance or capacitance can be switched on, impulse 40 immediately after a recording, but this is not necessary or desirable,
pulse for an electrostatic writing device at the end of the transistor β 4 supplied is shown in FIG. On the recording as impulse the transistor β5 is blocked, and the carrier 11 becomes an energy stored in the transformer by the minus sign. This is done via the pulses 20 ', 2Γ and 22'. The pen 16 is diode C and R 6 and the resistors R 12 and R 16 in a position on the trailing edge of the recording path formed. However, the value of the resistors is shown impulses 22 '. As already described, 30 is chosen so high that it causes only slight attenuation following the trailing edge of the pulse, for example. A large part of the stored 22 'according to the invention, a quenching or neutral energy, therefore charges the self-capacitance, which sationsimpuls 40. This neutralizes all before then discharges via the transformer. This charge brought forward below the pen 16th gear is an LC resonance process of the transformer. Through experiments it turned out that the 35 tor, through which the output voltage generates a pulse of previously charged surface parts to the opposite polarity, as shown in F i g. 7 set polarity can be reloaded, as shown by. This impulse corresponds completely to the one shown by the plus sign. The pulse 40 can in FIG. 4 pulses 40. Its amplitude, however, has a voltage that is significantly less and length is determined by the characteristic values half of the normal for charge transfer to the 40 of the transformer, including the external recording medium 11 required threshold value Hch connected reactances and the resistance . The oppositely charged surface parts would have to be added by R 12 and R 16, the toner particles 30 repel. The charges that are not below the maximum length of the output pulse of the pen 16, the pulse generator 61 is known to be not influenced by the trans through the pulse 40. The length of the formator Tl is limited, and longer pulses require a physically larger transformer in the area that is not covered by the pen. Therefore, and therefore not changed, i.e. a charge required for the circuit arrangement shown contains an image, ν ί 2 or ν t, a simple and economical way of generating, so that this value represents the charge prescribed for the electrostatic recording signals to be applied Value corresponds and corresponds to 5p only for pulse lengths of microseconds or mouth length of the pulse 22 '. As a result, both diodes CR 1 and CR 8 are polarized in the reverse direction and can therefore no longer control the operation of transistor Q 2. The transistors Q2 and Q3 then work as a free-standing multivibrator until the positive input voltage from transistor β 1 is switched off. The pulse generated at output 62 is shown in FIG. 8, the circuit sizes of the circuit arrangement shown in FIG. 6 being used as a basis. The successive, in F i g. Recording pulses shown in FIG. 8 are normally so closely spaced that they are very close to one another on the recording medium 11 and therefore produce a continuous character when they are made visible by the toner particles 30, as shown in FIG. This is caused by the fact that the charges applied by the pen 16 are so close together that they exceed the resolution of the developing device, namely because the resolution of the pen 16 and the pulse generator assigned to it is not infinitely large and has been exceeded. Both effects can also occur at the same time. The actual relationships between this effect are unimportant, as it is certain to recur again and again. Accordingly, the length and the spacing of the visible characters generated on the recording medium 11 correspond to the length and the spacing of the signals fed to the transistor Q 1, even if the circuit arrangement shown can only generate pulses of a constant length.
In order to give the pen 16 an apparent width of the value zero, it is only necessary to click on the the last pulse of each pulse series is followed by a neutralization or extinguishing pulse 40 or 40 ', such as he in the fig. 4, 7 and 8 is shown. This means that according to a further feature of the Invention when recording a large number of pulses as a continuous sign of the scattering effect of the pen with the use of a neutralization pulse 40 or 40 'on the trailing edge of the last pulse of a pulse group is effectively switched off. However, as described, can with the circuit according to FIG. 6 generated normal pulse as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8 is shown for Recording of closely spaced pulses can be used by overlapping them as one continuous Line can be reproduced.
In one embodiment of the invention, a resolution of more than 39 lines per centimeter was easily achieved by using an arrangement according to FIG. 1 with a pen having a width W of 0.4 mm and a speed of 38 cm / sec. was used. It is apparent to the person skilled in the art that this resolution by far exceeds that of a normally used pen of the specified width.
Diese Ergebnisse wurden mit Einzelimpulsen gemäß F i g. 7 oder mit Impulsgruppen gemäß F i g. 8 erreicht. These results were obtained with single pulses as shown in FIG. 7 or with pulse groups according to FIG. 8th achieved.
The insulating material used for the recording medium 11 should have a sufficiently high specific resistance to be able to store an electrostatic charge. Furthermore, it should be as thin as possible. It can take the form of a thin sheet of paper or a coating on the drum. It preferably consists of a sheet of paper which is impregnated to increase its electrical conductivity and which is coated on the surface in contact with the pen 16 with a very thin layer of a non-conductive synthetic resin. Such types of paper are described in the patent literature and are commercially available under the name "Videograph Paper". For the development of the charges generated on the recording medium 11, the procedure already described in connection with FIG. 1 described magnetic brush development . However, cascade development, liquid development, or any other known type of electrostatic image development is also suitable for use in the present process. Each of these processes mentioned is used in one or the other commercially available electrostatic copying machine, for which purpose special developers are supplied by the manufacturers of these machines. These developers are suitable either for developing negative charges with exclusion of positive charges or for developing positive charges with exclusion of negative charges.
The device shown in Fig. 1 has been described only to explain the invention. Any other means which produces relative motion between an electrical recording pen and a sheet of non-conductive material can equally be used. Such machines are used as facsimile writers, alphanumeric writers and others. Instead of a single pen, it is also possible to use several pens. Their dimensions are selected according to the intended use of the respective facility. The circuits used to carry out the method described can differ markedly from those described, as is familiar to the circuit technician. While the width W of the pen can be made so narrow that the desired resolution can be achieved without using the present invention, it offers significant advantages in terms of circuit simplicity and economy.
