Description
Oil channel arrangement for crankshafts The invention relates to crankshafts, especially for internal combustion engines, and relates to a special arrangement of the Oil channels used to lubricate the crank bearings.
It is known to use the oil supplied to the shaft bearings of a crankshaft by an oil pump through the shaft to lubricate the crank bearings and to provide the crankshaft with oil channels for this purpose, which run from the shaft journals through the crank arms to the crank journals. The shaft journals and the crank journals are usually provided with central axial longitudinal channels which are connected by a radial bore arranged in the crank arm and open with radial bores into the peripheral surfaces of the shaft journal and the crank journal. In another embodiment, it is known to design the oil channels for the crank pin as straight inclined channels which extend in a straight line through both pins and approximately from the longitudinal center of a shaft journal on the side facing away from the crank pin to approximately the longitudinal center »of the adjacent crank pin on its side facing away from the shaft journal extend the crank arm connecting them.
For crankshafts with a short stroke, their shaft journals and crank journals partially overlap with their cross-sections, it is also known that Crankshaft connected to an axial oil supply with an axially parallel oil channel to be provided, which is straight in the area of the overlap of the pin cross-sections extends through both the shaft journals and the crank journals. This straight shaft channel is eccentric to the shaft axis and is with in the peripheral surfaces the shaft journal and the crank journal opening transverse bores.
For the lubrication of the crank bearings from the shaft bearings without an axial oil line connection of the crankshaft, these known arrangements of the oil supply channels for the crank bearings have proven to be inexpedient, especially in the case of crankshafts rotating at high speed, because the oil is pumped in parts of the oil channels in which the oil must flow radially in the direction of the shaft axis in order to get from the circumferential surface of the shaft journal to the circumferential surface of the crank journal, which is hindered by the effect of the centrifugal force. Since this disability increases with increasing speed of the crankshaft, the lubrication of the crank bearing is, the worse the higher the rotational speed increases, while the lubrication would be more effective the more the faster the crankshaft rotates. In the case of longer crankshafts, the distribution of the oil supplied axially at the shaft end to a large number of shaft and crank bearings lying one behind the other in the oil flow also causes difficulties.
The invention is based on the object of arranging the oil channels of a crankshaft used to lubricate the crank bearings so that the crank pins can suck the oil required for their lubrication with a powerful suction effect generated by the centrifugal force from the shaft bearings, which in turn are connected to stationary oil supply lines . The oil channels of the crankshaft opening out at the crank pin should be designed in such a way that they have only a low line resistance and their delivery rate increases as the speed of the crankshaft increases.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the oil channels arranged in a known manner in the shaft journal are at a minimal distance from the circumferential surface of the shaft journal on the side of the surface of the shaft journal facing the adjacent crank journal and from the inlet opening located approximately in the longitudinal center of the shaft journal extend axially only up to the crank arm and merge here into a straight inclined channel which protrudes through the crank arm and the crank pin and opens out on the side facing away from the shaft pin approximately in the longitudinal center of the crank pin. Since the oil supply channel for the crank bearings in this arrangement neither intersects the shaft axis nor has a longer conveying section in which the oil has to flow radially inwards in the direction of the shaft axis in order to reach the circumferential surface of the crank pin, the inflow which hinders the oil production is practically the Centrifugal force switched off.
The in the shaft journal can be used to further improve the oil delivery rate located oil channel to which the axes of the shaft journal and associated with it The longitudinal center plane containing the crank pin be offset in the circumferential direction and the inclined channel protruding straight through the crank arm and the crank pin Inclined plane.
The drawing shows an example of the arrangement of the oil channels in a crankshaft according to the invention, namely FIG . 1 shows the side view of a four-fold cranked crankshaft with crankings lying in pairs between the shaft journals, partly in longitudinal section, FIG. 2 shows an end view in cross section along line II-II of FIG. 1 and F i g. 3 shows the same cross-section with a modified position of the oil channel.
The crankshaft according to FIG. 1 has two shaft journals 10 located at their ends and a central shaft journal 11 which are aligned in the axis of rotation 12 of the crankshaft. In the area of each end pin 10 there is a crank pin 13, which is connected to the assigned end pin 10 by a crank 14, while on both sides of the central shaft pin 11 there are two crank pins 15 , which are also connected to the shaft pin 11 by crank arms 14 and are connected to the crank pin 13 by correspondingly longer crank arms 16 . However, the invention is not limited to crankshafts with crankings lying together in pairs between the shaft journals, but can also be used with crankshafts of any other design, e.g. B. with crankshafts in which each offset is arranged between two shaft journals.
Each shaft journal 10 of the crankshaft has in its longitudinal center a hole 17 which serves as an oil inlet and which opens into an axially sparse oil duct 18. These axially parallel channels 18 lie just below the circumferential surface 19 of the shaft journals, namely on the side facing the adjoining crank pin and extend up to or in the adjoining crank arm 14. The axially parallel oil channels 18 are as far away from the axis as possible Axis of rotation 12 of the crankshaft.
The axially parallel oil channels open into inclined oil channels 20, which extend in a straight line through the crank arms 14 and open out at the circumferentials 21 of the crank pins 13 , namely approximately in the longitudinal center of each crank pin and at the point furthest away from the axis of rotation 12 of the crankshaft. In the case of the in FIG. 1 with the crankshaft pin 15 bordering the middle pin 11 in pairs, the axially parallel oil channel 18 'of the shaft pin 11 runs from the middle oil inlet hole 17 to both sides and ends at both ends in inclined oil channels 22, which in the same way into the circumferential surface 24 of the crank pin 15 open out.
When the machine equipped with the crankshaft is in operation, the lubricating oil is pumped in the usual way by an oil pump into the bearing shells, not shown, of the shaft bearings and penetrates into the holes 17 of the shaft journals. Under the action of centrifugal force, the oil in the inclined oil channels 20 and 22 is conveyed to the outside to the bearing surfaces 21 and 24 of the crank pin, without the centrifugal force having an inhibiting effect on the oil in the channels, because the oil channels, apart from their inlet holes, with respect to the axis of rotation 12 of the crankshaft, are only axially parallel and outward. The distance between the axially spare oil ducts 18 or 18 ' and the circumferential surface of the assigned shaft journals should be as small as possible and only need to be a few hundredths of a millimeter.
. This arrangement of the oil channels ensures reliable lubrication of the crank pin even at the highest speeds of the crankshaft. The powerful oil delivery supported by the centrifugal force also ensures better cooling of the lubricating surfaces. .
In contrast to FIG. 2, where the oil ducts are located in the main center plane of the crankshaft, they can according to FIG . 3 also have an inclination to this plane, which is useful in some cases.
The invention is not limited to the details of the illustrated and described arrangement of the oil channels. The mouths of the channels do not need to be in the longitudinal center of the associated shaft and crank pins. The inlet of the axially separate oil channels 18, 18 'of the shaft journal can be located at a point offset in the circumferential direction or open into a circumferential slot or a circumferential groove of the shaft journal. It is only important that the oil duct is located between the peripheral surfaces of the shaft journal and the crank pin having no waste cut, in which the oil must flow from the outside through a substantial portion of the pin cross-sections in the direction of the axis of rotation of the crankshaft. The inclined channels 20 and 22 could therefore also be replaced by intersecting channels, which run in a known manner at right angles to the axis of rotation in the crank pin 14 and axially parallel in the crank pin from the connection area of the channel located in the pivot, before they go into an outwardly directed hole the circumferential surface of the crank pin open out.
