Description
It is known to transmit television signals encrypted in such a way that that they are only from receivers provided with a special decryption device can be reproduced properly. For encryption, known Devices, the position of the sync pulses in relation to the line or the partial image, offset and to decrypt the recipient one separately, either through a special one High-frequency channel or, if necessary, a key signal transmitted via lines which controls the decryption device (U.S. Patents 2 619 530, 2 510 046).
B. eine Telefonleitung, übertragen (französische Patentschrift 1034 776).A method for encrypting television broadcasts is known, in which the image signals are periodically in rapid succession at the same time at the transmitter and Receiver can be inverted. The periodically recurring inversion can be used not only the image signal, but the entire video signal, including the synchronization signal, include. However, according to this method, the key signal is also via a Line, e.g. E.g. a telephone line (French patent specification 1034 776).
A method is also known (USA: Patent 2 972 009), in the case of the more complex encryption two different properties of the television signal be encrypted. For example, the polarity of the image signal is on the one hand changed, and on the other hand, mutual phase shifts of the image and synchronizing signal can be performed.
There is also an arrangement known (US Pat. No. 2,892,882), in which the horizontal synchronization signals can be modulated on the transmitter side in such a way that that they have two different pulse lengths, the receiver for such encrypted Signals requires a pulse length discriminator and a decoding circuit. A The disadvantage of this arrangement is that due to the use of only two fixed pulse lengths a decoding of the signal already with relatively simple means, for example with shift registers, can be made and therefore, due to the low level of encryption, not too high a level of security is guaranteed.
The invention relates to a method for encrypted transmission of television signals by changing the position of the sync signals, in which no special Key signal required and it is nevertheless guaranteed that on a commercially available Receiver no recognizable picture is reproduced. According to the invention this will be achieved in that the horizontal sync pulses to encrypt the sync signal with a fixed trailing edge by preferably periodic shifting (wobbling) their leading edge are width modulated and that the decryption of the sync signal regardless of the type of periodic shift of the leading edge of the horizontal signal by obtaining the receiver-side horizontal sync pulses from the recorded Trailing edge of the horizontal pulses modulated in the leading edge and coming from the transmitter is made. The encryption can be carried out with very little effort, and the decryption does not require demodulation of the wobble signal for decoding. If the image signal is also encrypted at the same time, the synchronous signal will be used and the image signal is encrypted separately on the sending side and on the receiving side decrypted again separately. A preferred method of encrypting the sync signal is in a development of the invention that for the encryption of the image signal the polarity of successive lines, groups of lines or partial images is keyed will.
To explain the invention, reference is made to the drawings Reference is made, in which first on the basis of block diagrams the principle and then on the basis of circuit diagrams of some exemplary embodiments of the individual Encryption or Decryption facilities the mode of action of these from each other separately effective device parts is described. The coding of the television signal As mentioned, the synchronization signal and image content are encrypted separately performed. With the encoded video signal, anyone can use it for Positive- or negative modulation conventional television transmitters can be controlled.
Die zur normalen Studioanlage zusätzlich erforderlichen Baugruppen 2 und 5 sind in F i g. 1 stark umrandet.F i g. 1 shows the activation of the in an overview circuit diagram Encryption facility on the sender side. That of the imager 1 (camera, film generator) The video signal supplied is encoded in a suitable manner in the image signal coder 2 and provided with blanking signals in the blanking mixer 3 as usual. The control of the The image signal coder 2 is effected by the horizontal synchronizing signal supplied by the clock generator 4. The horizontal sync signal is encoded in the H signal coder 5 and in a subsequent blanking stage 6 blanked a gap for the vertical sync signal. In a mixing stage 7, the standard-compliant, with Vorrabanten, main impulse and Vertical sync signal provided afterwards added. In the sync signal mixer 8, the coded sync signal is the likewise coded BA signal (picture and Blanking signal) added. The now complete BAS signal then controls the transmitter. The assemblies 2 and 5 required in addition to the normal studio system are in Fig. 1 heavily bordered.
A corresponding overview circuit diagram on the receiver side is shown in FIG. 2. The picture signal decoder 12 is switched on between the video demodulator 11 and the picture tube 13; it is controlled by the decoded H sync signal. Instead of this, the non-swept pulse trailing edges of the encrypted horizontal synchronizing signal taken from the amplitude filter can also be used to control the image signal decoder. The decoding of the H sync signal takes place behind the amplitude filter 14 in the H sync signal decoder 15. This H sync signal controls the horizontal deflection generator 16 in the usual way. The integrated vertical sync signal controls the V deflection generator 17 as in normal reception Switching the video signal decoder 12 into a commercially available television receiver means that the line carrying the video signal must be interrupted at any point between the video demodulator and the picture tube, for example behind the video output tube, and connected to the corresponding terminals of the decoder. The synchronizing signal decoder 15 is switched on between the amplitude filter and the horizontal synchronization circuit (input phase comparison). Also in Fig. 2, the assemblies 12 and 15 additionally required for decryption are highlighted by thick borders.

Für die zunächst zu behandelnde Senderseite zeigt F i g. 3 den Bildsignal-Coder und F i g. 4 den Synchronsignal-Coder. Für beide liefert der im Fernsehstudio vorhandene Taktgeber (CCIR-Norm) die Steuerimpulse.7e shows an exemplary embodiment for the separate encryption and decryption Serving circuits is shown in FIGS. 3 to 7 shown. For the transmitter side to be dealt with first, FIG. 3 the image signal encoder and F i g. 4 the sync signal encoder. The one available in the television studio delivers for both Clock generator (CCIR standard) the control pulses.
The task of the image signal coder (FIG. 3) is to transmit the image content e.g. B. positive for all even-numbered lines of a field and negative for all odd-numbered lines. The video signal supplied by the image generator (camera, film scanner) via terminal 31 is fed to the control grid of the pentode 32 (ECF 80) and, via its cathode, simultaneously controls the triode 33 (ECF 80), which operates in a grid-based circuit. Signal voltages of the same size but in opposite directions arise at the two anodes 34 and 35, respectively. At the push-pull output of this phase inversion stage, one image signal each with positive and negative polarity is obtained. These two signal voltages are applied to the control grid of the tube 39 (EL 83) via two switch diodes 36 and 37 (2 - RL43) and a coupling capacitor 38 (5 nF). The diode-resistor combination 41/42 (RL 43, i MS2) on the control grid of this tube is used to reintroduce the black level. Because of the RC coupling between the image generator and the image signal coder, a level control circuit is provided at its input, consisting of the diode 43 (RL 43) with parallel resistor 44 (1 Mo), the base of which is at the tap of the voltage divider 45/46 (100 / k52) lies. The two switch diodes 36 and 37 are opened alternately for successive lines, groups of lines or partial images. From the tube 39 , the positive-negative video signal passes via the line 48 to the blanking stage, in which the A signal is added. A switch multivibrator, formed from the two triode systems 52 and 53 (2-ECF 80), is used to control the two diodes 36 and 37, ie for image signal shift keying. It is synchronized by the clock generator via the line 54 on the control grid of the triode 52, for example by every second horizontal sync pulse, and then oscillates at half the line frequency. Its duty cycle is expediently set to 76/52 gs. The control grids of two switching tubes 56 and 57 (2-ECF 80) are galvanically coupled to the control grids of the multivibrator tubes 52 and 53. As a result, the switching tubes 56,57 with the multivibrator pulses are opened and closed. The anodes of the switching tubes 56 and 57 are connected to the anodes of the switching diodes 36 and 37 and each via a working resistor 58 and 59 (1 kΩ) to the anode voltage terminal 51. The cathodes of the tubes 52 and 53 (arrows F and F ') as well the cathodes of the tubes 56 and 57 (arrows E and E3 are connected to each other. The connected cathodes of the two switching diodes 36 and 37 are biased via the voltage divider 49/50 (controller 1 kS2 / 50 k9) so that the diode blocks , which is at the anode of the live switching tube. The control grid of the video output tube 39 always only receives a positive or negative signal, depending on which switching diode is currently open always lie with the same polarity on the grid of the video output stage 39, while the image content is positive for all even-numbered lines and negative for all odd-numbered lines In 39, the coded image signal is obtained, which arrives at the blanking stage via line 48. The coded synchronizing signal is added to the BA signal in a mixer following the blanking mixer. With the now complete encoded BAS signal, a television transmitter can be controlled via a modulation amplifier.
The in FIG. 1 is used to encrypt the synchronous signals. 4 synchronous signal encoder shown. In this circuit, the leading edge of the horizontal sync pulse is swept in time with any low-frequency modulation frequency, ie the pulse width is increased and decreased rhythmically. The trailing edge of the sync pulse remains unchanged. The horizontal synchronizing signal supplied by the clock via line 61 first controls a delay univibrator (flip-flop), consisting of the two triode systems 62 and 63 (ECC 81). The trailing edges of the square-wave pulses supplied by this univibrator in turn trigger two univibrators; the purpose of this arrangement will be explained later. The actual modulation circuit consists of two univibrators, each made up of two triode systems 64/65 (2 - ECF 80) or 66767 (ECC 81). Both univibrators are synchronized with the leading edge of the horizontal sync pulse. The pulse duty factor of the univibrator 66/67, which in the exemplary embodiment is formed from the two systems of a double triode (ECC 81), is set to a fixed value with the discharge resistor 68 (500 kΩ controller / 10 k9). The duty cycle of the Univibrator 64/65 (2 - ECF 80) can be modulated via the modulation tube 69 (ECF 80). The pulse duty factor is determined here by the voltage against which the grid capacitor 71 (1 nF) discharges via the grid resistor 72 (500 kΩ regulator / 4.7 kS2). This voltage is taken from the external resistor 73 (4.7 k62) of the modulation tube 69. Since the modulation voltage supplied via the line 74 and amplified in the modulation tube is present here, the potential against which the capacitor 71, which determines the pulse duty factor, is discharged, and thus the pulse duty factor of the univibrator 64/65, changes in time with the supplied modulation frequency. In the unmodulated state, the output pulse of the univibrator 64/65 is about 3 #ts shorter than that of the univibrator 66/67. Both output pulses are fed to a limiter circuit 78 or 79 (2 RL 43) via a separating stage 76 or 77 (2 ECC 85) each, at the output of which there is a subtracting stage 81/82, consisting of the two other triode systems (ECC 85) two double triodes.
In the subtraction stage, as in FIG. 5 shows, by subtracting the pulses B supplied by the Univibrator 64/65 with a wobbled pulse duty factor from the pulses C generated by the Univibrator 66/67 with a fixed pulse duty factor, a pulse train D with a time-modulated leading edge of the pulses. The trailing edges of the output pulses C of the univibrator 66/67 are fixed and lag behind the modulated edges of the output voltage B of the univibrator 64/65. By forming the difference in the subtraction stage 81/82, the difference pulse D obtained in this stage has a rigid trailing edge, while the leading edge shifts relative to the trailing edges in the rhythm of the modulation frequency controlling the duty cycle of the univibrator 64/65. The modulation can take place, for example, with a sinusoidal voltage fed to line 74. The differential pulse with a modulated (swept) leading edge (pulse width modulation) is again limited with the aid of a diode 85 (RL 43) and fed via line 86 to the vertical blanking stage. There, in the usual way, a gap for the V synchronous signal is keyed into the encrypted horizontal synchronous signal, into which the V standard mixture is faded in in a further mixer stage. As already described, the entire S signal is then added to the BA signal.
The horizontal pulse is generated in the modulation circuit of the synchronizing signal encoder delayed by about 1/2 line duration. About its temporally correct position in the television signal To restore the image content, including the blanking signal and vertical pulse, would have to be reproduced delay by the same amount; this involves considerable difficulties. According to a further development of the invention, it is much simpler to use the horizontal sync pulse delayed again by about 1/2 line duration and thus its timely correct Able to restore line blanking pulse. This is what the already mentioned is used for Univibrator 62/63 in the input of the synchronizing signal encoder, the one with the leading edge of the horizontal pulse is synchronized. The one from the cathode of the two triodes The control pulse taken from 62/63 is amplified in the subsequent pentode 87 (ECF 80), then differentiated and each via a diode 88 or 89 (2 - RL 43) the two Univibrators 64/65 or 66/67 supplied. The duty cycle of the univibrator 62/63 is set so that at the output of the modulation circuit a phase correct Horizontal sync pulse arises.
To undo the encryption in the recipient, is this is equipped with appropriate decoding devices. F i g. 6 shows an embodiment for a picture signal decoder and FIG. 7 for a sync signal decoder. The inclusion of these two decoders in the circuit of a television receiver (see FIG. 2) is carried out in such a way that the receiver can by bridging the decoder switched to the reproduction of standard-compliant, non-encrypted television signals can be.
The encrypted television signal received by the television receiver is fed, for example, after the video output stage to the video signal decoder, which reverses the periodic polarity keying and provides the control electrode of the picture tube with a television signal with the same polarity in all lines. The picture signal decoder works in principle like the picture signal coder. The encrypted image signal is fed via the line 101 , for example from the anode of the video output tube, to the control grid of the pentode 102 (PCF80) and, via its cathode, simultaneously controls the triode 103 (PCF 80), which operates in a grid-base circuit. A sound (intercarrier) blocking circuit is expediently provided at the input of the video signal decoder (FIG. 6). Signal voltages of the same size but in opposite directions arise at the two anodes 104 and 105, which are transmitted to the control grid of the tube 111 (PL 83) via two switching diodes 106 and 107 (2 - RL 43) and a coupling capacitor 108 (5 nF). reach. The diode-resistor combination 1.12 / 113 (RL43, 1 M52) on the control grid is used to reintroduce the direct current component. The multivibrator made up of the two triodes 122 and 123 (2 - PCF 80) generates the tactile impulses; it oscillates at half the line frequency and is synchronized via line 109 by every second horizontal sync pulse. Its duty cycle is set to 76/52 #ts. The control grids of the two switching tubes 124 and 125 (2-PCF 80) are connected to the control grids of the multivibrator tubes 122 and 123, respectively. The switching tubes 124 and 125 are opened and closed in the rhythm of the multivibrator pulses. The anodes of the switching tubes 124/125 are connected to the anodes of the switching diodes 106/107 and overlie a respective operating resistor 114/115 (1 KS2) at the anode voltage 116. The cathodes of the switching diodes 106/107 are via the voltage divider 118 / 1p9 (controller 1 kS / 50 kS) is biased in such a way that the diode at the anode of the current-carrying interrupter blocks. A positive image signal always arrives at the control grid of the output tube 111 (PL 83), which, depending on which switching diode is currently open, is obtained either by amplifying an already positive signal or by keying and amplifying an initially negative signal. Of course, an always negative image signal can also be obtained at the output of the end tube 111. In any case, an image signal of the same polarity is fed to the downstream picture tube via line 121. The picture signal decoder can be switched on at any point between the picture demodulator and the picture tube.
To decrypt the horizontal synchronous signal, for example the in F i g. 7 synchronizing signal decoder shown can be used. It gets z. B. from the amplitude filter via line 131 to the synchronizing signal decoder to which the Phase comparison circuit for H synchronization can be connected. That unencrypted vertical sync signal is from the amplitude sieve in usual Way after integration of the vertical tilting device. By bridging the Synchronous signal decoder by means of the two-armed switch 134/135 can switch to normal reception be switched.
With the encrypted signal, the horizontal synchronization is no longer derived from the leading edge, but from the rigid trailing edge of the H sync pulse. However, this means that the beginning of the line is delayed by about 6 ets. In order to still synchronize the line oscillator with the correct phase position, the horizontal sync pulse derived from the trailing edge is delayed by almost a line duration (about 58 [us) so that it comes back into the correct position in relation to the video signal. The synchronizing signal decoder is used for this. The positive pulse coming from the amplitude sieve and pulse-width-modulated (swept) on its leading edge is first fed to a differentiating circuit consisting of a capacitor 132 (18 pF) and a resistor 133 (50 kS), at the output of which two diodes 137 and 138 (2 - RL 43) the positive tip of the differentiated pulse is cut off. The voltage taken from the voltage divider 141/142 (68 kS / controller 100 kS) limits the pulse in the negative direction. The negative needle pulse is amplified in the pentode 143 (PCF 80) and controls the univibrator 144/145 (PCF 80, ECC 81). The pulse duty factor of this univibrator signal is approximately 0.8. The output pulse taken from the common cathode line via a capacitor 146 (50 pF) controls a second univibrator 148I149 (ECC 81, PCF 80), the output pulse of which is differentiated at the RC element 151/152 (18 pF, 50 kS). The two diodes 153 and 154 (2 - RL 43) cut off the positive peak of the differentiated pulse. The following tube 155 (PCF 80) amplifies the negative pulse, which is somewhat integrated and forms the new horizontal sync pulse. It is fed via line 158 to the horizontal phase comparison circuit. Its phase position can be set at resistor 156 (1 MS controller) via the pulse duty factor of the univibrator signal (148/149). The on the basis of FIG. The circuits explained in FIGS. 3 to 7 represent tried and tested exemplary embodiments of the invention. The basic ideas of the invention can, however, also be implemented with other equivalent or possibly simplified circuits. For example, the delay univibrators in the synchronizing signal decoder can be omitted; if a phase shift of the sinusoidal signal is carried out between the horizontal deflection oscillator and the horizontal deflection output stage, which is then fed to the H output stage via a corresponding phase shifter element. Runtime chains can also be used to delay the pulses instead of univibrators (monostable multivibrators). If the demands on the unrecognizability of the encrypted image are somewhat lower, it is possible to dispense with the keying and to send the image content as a whole as a negative. On the receiver side, only a phase reversal and return blanking are then required in the video signal decoder. Other modifications, simplifications and additions are also conceivable within the scope of the invention. You can z. B. both on the transmitter side and on the receiver side, the tubes used in the circuit examples through semiconductor amplifiers, z. B. replace transistors, multilayer diodes and the like. B. combine with square ferrite for pulse shaping or pulse delay.
The encrypted television signal results when played back with a commercially available TV receiver without additional device no recognizable picture because consecutive Lines, groups of lines or partial images alternately as positive and negative Image appear and also successive lines or groups of lines in rhythm the leading edge wobble of the horizontal sync pulse shifted against each other are. By installing an additional decoder, every normal television receiver can reproduce the encrypted picture content received from the broadcaster as a flawless picture. The transmission method according to the invention can be used for the distribution of television broadcasts can be used that should only be accessible to a certain group of participants. The encryption method described is suitable for all currently used Television transmission systems for black and white (e.g. according to CCIR, OIR, USA. like.) and color television (e.g. NTSC, SECAM, FAM). With all color television systems is - in addition to the encryption of the horizontal synchronous signal - only one encryption (Shift keying) of the brightness signal expedient, which already because of the necessary Compatibility with all television systems is present. The color information should be If possible, they should not be encrypted, as this could result in color errors badly eliminated. By encrypting the horizontal sync signal and a polarity shift keying of the brightness signal is neither on a commercially available Color television receiver still recognizable on a black and white television receiver Image to be visible. However, additional encryption of the color information is required not hindered by the encryption method according to the invention.
Both the one provided with the encryption device according to the invention Studio system as well as the television receiver equipped with a decoder are Can be switched to normal operation for a short time by means of a switch.
