The known rope locks usually have considerable thickening at the rope coupling and therefore wear out all the faster at these points. The present castle, shown in the accompanying drawing by FIGS. 1 to 3, with its cable coupling is intended to eliminate this deficiency. The lock case has a round cross-section and is two-part, parts α and b are screwed into one another and secured to one another by screw c. The oval recess d accommodates ball joints e and f which, with their extension pins e x and J 1, form the main part of the cable coupling. Through these ball joints, which in other cases can also be ordinary joints, the lock between the two rope ends, which are surrounded by leather caps gh and are always larger in diameter than the lock, is extremely protected and made movable. So that an extended rope can be retensioned again, this is a ball joint, e.g. B. /, provided with a resilient pin i , which allows the corresponding end of the rope to rotate only in one direction by placing itself in an obliquely tapering recess I 1 of the housing b after each rotation. The other joint e is prevented from turning by the screw k , but leaving enough space does not prevent the joint movements. The coupling of the rope ends to the castle is done on the one hand by the extension pin J 1 respectively, which is also wound in the direction of the rope leg turns. e x , which is provided with holes on all sides. By means of screws or pins 11, which are guided through these holes from the outer circumference of the rope, the cross connection is made by inserting the screw heads into a bearing Z 1 made of hemp with putty or the like. But also the innermost metal heart m of the rope is spliced in at its end at η in f x. A cross-shaped piece ρ is provided for coupling the metal inserts 0 of the rope legs, around the links p x of which the inserts (hearts, souls) 0 are looped and which is screwed onto f x by means of a thread. If ropes are used which have no metal inserts in the legs, the fastening to piece ρ is of course also omitted and the screws 11 etc. which produce the cross connection are sufficient for fastening. The thick leather washer q serves to cover the arrangement with leg metal inlays.
