Der vorliegenden Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zu Grunde, die Richtung von Tönen oder Geräuschen zu bestimmen, insbesondere auf Schiffen. Dies geschieht mit Hülfe der als Megaphone oder Schalltrichter bekannten Vorrichtungen. Wenn aber ein einzelnes Megaphon benützt wird, so ist es erforderlich, dafs dasselbe beständig seine Lage wechselt, bis der Ton wahrgenommen wird.
