Magnetic switching and storage element The development of the modern
Message processing equipment is done primarily towards an increase
the working speed. This requires z. B. the development of components with
shorter switching times. In the case of magnetic storage elements, this is achieved, for. B.
through their spatial reduction. So embodiments have become known at
which thin magnetic layers of magnetizable material on a carrier body,
z. B. are applied to a non-conductive wire. This element is with at least
an input winding inductively coupled from which the information to be stored
representing current flows through it. However, such an arrangement has
unfavorable properties, as the magnetic field does not close in the storage medium.
A storage arrangement has now been proposed which consists of a thin,
There is an electrically conductive wire on which a thin sheath of magnetizable material is made
is applied with rectangular characteristics. To evaluate the stored information
the time current behavior caused by magnetic rotating processes is used.
This is done, for example, in such a way that the memory arrangement is equipped with a threshold value circuit
is connected and operated with pulses of impressed voltage. Depending on,
whether the arrangement magnetizes in the direction of its weakly or strongly inclined hysteresis branch
the magnetizing current increases rapidly or slowly, i.e. H. that the threshold value circuit
depending on the memory content, one time at time t1 and the other at time t. a signal
gives away. Further investigations now led to the realization that the exploitation
of the time current behavior not only on magnetic materials with a rectangular hysteresis loop
is limited. The switching and storage element according to this invention is accordingly
characterized by the use of magnetic material with pronounced saturation properties,
whose remanence induction is as equal as possible to the saturation induction and where
the reversible permeability is low.
an.
Based on the drawing, the subject of the invention and its
Function explained. The magnet material has a hysteresis loop,
as shown in the figure. As can be seen from it, the material shows a
pronounced saturation behavior and has a saturation induction that only
is insignificantly greater than the remanence. The two possible binary pieces of information
1 and 0 are the points + B ,. or -B ,. assigned. Is in the storage element z. B.
a binary 0 is stored and an impressed voltage pulse is passed through the wire
If the polarity is negative, the magnetic material will flow in the direction of the negative
Saturation induction -B, controlled on path a. In this case the current increases
according to the inductance given by the reversible permeability
at. However, if the storage element was in state 1, i.e. positive remanence,
so the magnetic material is transferred to the negative saturation state on the path b.
The steep course of the induction change now causes the current to rise
takes place much more slowly than in the case of querying a binary zero. Advantageously
are used in the embodiment either query pulses that are longer, or
those that are shorter than the magnetic reversal time of the switching and storage element
are.
