Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Masolit genannten, marmorähnlichen Masse, die sich vor den bekannten Verfahren, bei denen, wie z. B. im D. R. P. 39555, auch Asbest Verwendung findet, wesentlich dadurch unterscheidet, daß der Hauptbestandtheil der herzustellenden Masse ein Farbstoff anorganischer Natur ist, der mit Asbestfasern innig verknetet und durch dieselben zusammengehalten wird. Die Asbestfasem werden in bekannter Weise durch Tränkung mit einer Lösung aus Schellack und Spiritus verarbeitungsfähig gemacht.The invention relates to a method for producing a marble-like one called masolite Mass, which is before the known methods in which, such. Das Verfahren besteht darin, daß man zur Verarbeitung von beispielsweise I1J2 kg anorganischen Farbstoffes, der in Spiritus unlöslich ist, wie z. B. Minium, 150 g Faserasbest verwendet, der mit einer Lösung von 50 g Schellack in 100 g Spiritus getränkt und mit dieser Lösung derart innig durchknetet worden ist, daß er eine weiche, biegsame Masse bildet. Diese Masse nun wird mit dem Farbstoff durch Kneten, Rollen u. dergl. derart verbunden, daß sich der Farbstoff in mehr oder weniger großen unregelmäßigen Stücken zwischen die Asbestfasern setzt, so daß auf dem farbigen Untergrunde durch die Asbestfasern helle Adern entstehen. Die auf diese Weise erzeugte Masse wird in die betreffenden Formen gebracht und dann über gelindem Feuer so lange erwärmt, bis der in der Masse enthaltene Spiritus verflüchtigt ist. Die Masse wird noch einmal in die Form gepreßt und dann an der Luft getrocknet, worauf der betreffende Gegenstand in derselben Weise an der Oberfläche polirt wird, wie dies bei Marmor und ähnlichem Material geschieht.The process consists in processing, for example, I 1 J 2 kg of inorganic dye which is insoluble in alcohol, such as.
