PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
In the main patent 118836 there is one method has been described, according to which it is possible to break up the cellulose in such a way that that they can quickly and easily grow to 8 to 9 pct. in concentrated aqueous zinc chloride solution dissolves to a high degree spinnable solutions. This method consists in first treating the cellulose is thoroughly mercerized in the cold with concentrated caustic alkalis. The resulting Soda cellulose freed from the excess of alkali by centrifuging is then used in entered a lot of water. The sodium cellulose decomposes into sodium hydroxide solution, which through Wash is removed and put in cellulose hydrate. This cellulose hydrate is in and for soluble in copper oxide ammonia to form spinnable solutions, while the solubility becomes not insignificantly increased if hydration is also cautious Treatment with diluted, preferably electrolytic, bleaching liquid follows.
Experience has now shown that the treatment of the Cellulosic material with weak bleaching liquid also before the. Make hydration can, if only initially with weak soda solution under pressure in the for cotton had been degreased in the usual way.
This modification of the process of the main patent has the advantage that the digested material is extremely homogeneous and immediately dissolves in the zinc chloride solution to form well spinnable solutions.
B. Baumwolle. The threads produced from it behave like pure cellulose to dyes, z. B. Cotton.
The bleaching liquid used in the described modification of the process is preferably weak electrolytic liquid containing about 2 g of chlorine per liter for about 2 to 1 hour at normal temperature.
With sufficient dilution, however, other bleaching agents can also be used in this case, such as hydrogen peroxide, other superoxides and the like. Are used.
The digested material will after thorough washing and spinning without prior Drying at low temperature with kneading dissolved in a concentrated zinc chloride solution.
