Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
Pyridine has been suggested several times as a bactericidal or insecticidal agent. All previous proposals, however, had either the disadvantage of being very costly and Unwieldy or short effectiveness. The short effectiveness was caused by that the easy solubility and volatility of pyridine have not been taken into account and therefore the pyridine evaporates or is washed off by rain and the like before it is it has enough effect when it is spread on the objects to be treated or sprayed on. For these reasons, a practical application of pyridine has hitherto not been carried out on a large scale, or only on an experimental basis took place.
It is true that disinfectants have already been used, which have a varying low level Possess pyridine content. Either this is just coincidental and the intended one Effect without influence, or the properties mentioned above are not taken into account and therefore the remedy or its application is not feasible. In patent specification 24295, for example, pyndine is used for extermination phylloxera and so on have been proposed, in free form or in the form of its salts, or in solution in water or alcohol. In all of these forms the pyridine can be easily washed off and easily evaporated in free form. So it becomes the killing of, for example, the downy mildew after that in the Patent specification 24295 does not succeed in hot or wet weather. The same applies to the proposal contained in patent specification 47775, the animal oil to eradicate phylloxera, and to be used in the form of its solution in methyl alcohol. In the same proportion as the easily evaporable methyl alcohol evaporates, if the dissolved pyridine of animal oil evaporates with it, resp. becomes this pyridine alcohol solution dissolved by water. Another shortcoming of this procedure is both that it is costly of the means, like that of its type of application, but that, as in patent specification 47775 indicated by the easy solubility of methyl alcohol and the substances dissolved in it is conditional in water. However, it is precisely the use of these properties that is used in the Patent 47775 aims in contrast to the present method. Therefore, in patent specification 47775, special measures against this are excessive quick evaporation suggested. The methyl alcohol as a solvent is so dear that for this reason alone the process cannot be carried out in practice. It is without It is also clear that the prescribed injection of the agent into the individual vine by means of a borehole and a syringe the procedure is extraordinarily cumbersome, expensive and dangerous for the vine. The procedure is not actually used either.
Jedenfalls ist das Pyridin weder genannt noch als wirksamer Bestandtheil des Thieröles -erkannt und als solcherFinally, it should be noted that patent specification 47775 does not even reveal that what part of the very complex animal oil is the active substance of the remedy. Anyway, that's pyridine neither named nor recognized as an active component of animal oil and as such
The creolin, which crude animal oil as active ingredient may contain an occasional pyridine content. The effective agent of Creoline, however, is the tar oil, which is never in a constant composition can be obtained and its effect is based on the presence of substances other than pyridine. This is what happens from the fact that the amount of pyridine present in the tar is very small (at most 0.05 pct.) And depending on the method of processing the tar and its fraction the tar oil and the creoline produced from it will be completely free of pyridine, but without of the intended effectiveness, for which the pyridine is indifferent. Both in the case of Creoline and the solutions according to patent specification 47775, however, this is the case Pyridine is only an accidental component of the disinfectant, and its effect in general not recognized.
The use of pyridine according to the above can only be carried out on a large scale if it is possible to bring this into a form in which it is neither easily evaporable nor washable is. It has now been observed that pyridine and its homologues, which are soluble in large quantities in oils Difficult to evaporate from these solutions, and that these oil solutions reduce their pyridine content Only release it very slowly into aqueous liquids, using as a disinfectant Advantage are to be applied. These facts, not previously described, which neither the properties of Creoline are taken from patents 47775 and 24295 respectively could be derived for the disinfection process described below respectively for the production of a disinfectant that remains effective for a longer period of time used with almost any content of pyridine. The procedure consists in that pyridine in an oil is dissolved and the resulting solution as such or after suitable dilution is used.
The oils that dissolve the pyridine and for the production of the durable disinfectant Can be used from pyridine, are liquid, poorly volatile hydrocarbons or vegetable oils.
The disinfectant liquid is prepared in such a way that the pyridine is used solves in the relevant oil.
Beispiel. Example. 10 parts of pyridine are dissolved in 100 parts of neutral high-boiling coal tar oil and injects the liquid produced in this way, e.g. B. to combat grape diseases , through suitable devices over the grapevines, on which the pyridine comes into effect, and for a long time persistent as it is protected from evaporation.
So verwendet man zur Desinfektion von Wunden unter Umständen Olivenöl oder andere neutrale OeIe.Instead of coal tar oil, depending on the intended use, other oils or Use hydrocarbons in which the pyridine is soluble. How to use the Wounds may be disinfected using olive oil or other neutral oils.
In the method described in patent specification 47775, a liquid used for disinfection, which easily evaporates with its pyridine content and therefore only by costly and cumbersome injecting into the vine can be used at the same time is dear and harms the vine or its products. If the solution is after Patent specification 24295, which also easily evaporates liquids such as methyl alcohol, contains, is applied by using the. If liquid splashes on, there is also a too rapid evaporation. According to the present process, the pyridine is ahead of the rapid Protected from evaporation, the disinfectant liquid is conveniently sprayed on used is cheap and does not harm the vine or its products The means of the present invention is therefore that of patent specifications 47775. and 24295 known agents are exactly the opposite in their properties and represent these represents a significant step forward.
