Hydrogen lamp The invention relates to a hydrogen discharge lamp
with elongated cylindrical lamp bulb, which has a window to the exit of the
Radiation on the front face. The lamp comes with a space for that
Provide hydrogen supply and a liquid cooling.
It is already a hydrogen lamp with an elongated discharge vessel
known, which has a radiation exit window on the front face.
There is a separate container for the hydrogen supply parallel to the discharge vessel
intended. The self-contained system for the hydrogen supply is necessary
because the quartz wall absorbs hydrogen. The separate container is with the discharge vessel
connected by leads. The liquid cooling of the known lamp exists
from a cooling space between the outer wall of the discharge vessel and one with it
fused cooling jacket wall is formed. This complicated assembly of different
Aggregate causes manufacturing difficulties and a considerable risk of breakage.
Furthermore, installation in a spectrophotometer becomes difficult. The discharge vessel
with the fused cooling jacket requires a total of seven entries, viz
three electrical entries, two connection pieces for the cooling water and two
Terminating connection for the hydrogen storage tank. Only a single unit fails
the well-known hydrogen discharge lamp, it is necessary to run the entire lamp through
to replace a new one.
vorteilhafterweise in zwei unabhängige Elemente unterteilt.
On the other hand, avoiding all difficulties and disadvantages
With the invention, a hydrogen lamp with a significantly simplified structure was created
will. This object is achieved according to the invention in that the cylindrical
The lamp bulb also has the largest diameter across the direction of radiation
Represents lamp. Furthermore, all current inlets are in the area of the rear
End face of the lamp bulb arranged so that a concentric at its ends
Cylindrical cooling jacket sealed around the lamp bulb for receiving the cooling liquid
can be placed and detached over the lamp bulb. The problem of the hydrogen supply
is solved in such a way that the rear parts of the lamp bulb,
which connect to the electrode system arranged at window height, at the same time
form the storage vessel for the hydrogen. The usual complicated structure becomes
advantageously divided into two independent elements. It. namely becomes the
Kühlflüs.sigkeitsraum between the discharge vessel and one at its ends against it
sealed cylindrical, detachably attached cooling jacket formed. To the separate
Avoiding hydrogen tanks and the necessary connecting pipes will do that
The discharge vessel itself is enlarged, so there is space in it for the hydrogen supply
to accomplish. The result is a simple and smooth design due to the omission of the
separate hydrogen storage tank and the connecting pipes for the hydrogen supply.
In the embodiment according to the invention, it is close to the beam exit window
the entire electrode system and behind it the hydrogen storage space.
In this way it is possible, on the one hand, to get as close to the location of the highest radiation density as
possible to bring to the entrance slit of a monochromator to be assigned and
on the other hand for the hydrogen supply a coherent one from the discharge
to provide little affected space.
The power leads run through the rear face of the cylindrical
Vessel, which enables simplified installation in a spectrophotometer.
leicht abzunehmen. Andererseits
ragen vorteilhafterweise die Stirnseiten
des zylindrischen Gefäßes aus dem Kühlmantel heraus. An einer Stelle weist der Innenflansch
eine Aussparung für den Pumpstutzen auf.In a further development of the inventive concept, the sealing takes place
Kühlfiüssigkeitsraumes by elastic sealing rings, which by threaded washers
be pressed onto the cylindrical vessel. At the cooling jacket are near his two
Ends of inner flanges attached, which act as an abutment for the sealing groove and at the same time
serve to center the cylindrical vessel.- This is how the cooling jacket
easy to take off. on the other hand
Advantageously, the end faces protrude
of the cylindrical vessel out of the cooling jacket. At one point the inner flange
a recess for the pump nozzle.
The electrode system is an advantageous further development of the exemplary embodiment
Surrounded by a metallic housing, on the outer circumference of which resilient brackets are made
high temperature resistant material are arranged. Inside the electrode housing
a cylindrical jacket is attached to the diaphragm and the spirally coiled one
Anode and backwards of it encloses a glass bead. This is how a
compact and operationally reliable system within the discharge vessel. The cathode
is here arranged within the space between the electrode housing and the jacket.
Further advantages and details emerge from the following description of the figures. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the discharge lamp according to the invention and FIG. 2 shows a cross section in the section plane AB. In the interior of the discharge vessel 1, which consists of a cylindrical glass tube, preferably made of quartz glass, with the same or a cylindrically offset diameter, three power supply lines 2 are melted in a vacuum-tight manner. These power supply lines 2 are embedded in flexible tubes 3 outside the discharge vessel 1. The current inlets into the discharge vessel are arranged on its rear end face, as shown in the drawing, or on the lateral surface in the immediate vicinity of one of the two end faces, for example at the point labeled C. The power supply lines 2 in the interior of the discharge vessel 1 lead to the electrode system. This is surrounded by a metallic housing 4, on which externally resilient brackets 5 made of high-temperature-resistant material are arranged. This supports the electrode system against the inner wall of the discharge vessel. The spirally coiled anode 6, for example, is connected to the central power supply line 2 and is arranged within the anode space which is formed by a cylindrical jacket 7. Somewhat below the anode 6, an annular glass bead 8 is provided, which serves to center and avoid axial displacements of the metallic built-in parts. The anode space 7 is closed off by the diaphragm 9 so that the discharge from the anode space can only exit through the diaphragm and is thus strongly constricted in order to achieve high luminance. In the axis of the housing 4 is the radiation exit window 10, which preferably has a high permeability even in the very short-wave ultraviolet range. Since the diaphragm 9 is now close to the radiation exit window 10 in this embodiment, there is a guarantee that the location of the highest radiation density can be brought very close to the entrance slit of a monochromator, so that a very good radiation yield is achieved. The other two power supplies 2 lead to the cathode 11, which z. B. from a coiled tungsten wire and in the space between the cylindrical jacket 7 and the cylindrical housing 4 is located. The discharge from the anode 6 to the cathode 11 takes place through a gap 20 in the cylindrical jacket 7. In contrast to the known design, the storage container 12 for the hydrogen filling in the subject of the invention is located within the discharge vessel 1, directly after the electrode system.
13
eingeführt werden. The discharge vessel 1 is surrounded by a cylindrical, coaxial, removable cooling jacket 13 , which is preferably made of metal and has nozzles 14, 15 on the jacket surface for the inflow and outflow of the cooling liquid. Inside this cooling jacket 13, inner flanges 16 are attached near its two ends or directly on its end faces. The discharge vessel 1 is then inserted into this cooling edge 113 in such a way that its two end faces protrude somewhat from the cooling jacket. The discharge vessel 1 is centered by the two inner flanges 16 and the sealing rings 18. One of the inner flanges 16 has a recess 17 for the pump nozzle. The inner flanges 16 serve as abutments for the elastic sealing rings 18, which are pressed against the discharge vessel 1 by tightening the threaded ring disks 19 and thus bring about the liquid-tight connection between the discharge vessel 1 and the cooling jacket 13. By loosening the threaded ring washers 19, a hydrogen lamp that has become unusable can then be easily replaced with a new one and inserted into the cooling jacket 13.
