Da der Geburtsakt in der Austreibungsperiode durch Mitbethätigung der Frauen, und
zwar durch Anspannung der Körpermuskulatur während der Wehenthätigkeit wesentlich befördert
wird, so habe ich einen Geburtsmantel cpnstruirt, welcher es den gebärenden Frauen
ermöglicht, in bedeutend höherem Grade als es bisher durch Anwendung der üblichen
Zügel möglich war, ihre gesammte Körpermuskulatur in Anspannung zu versetzen.Since the act of childbirth in the expulsion period through the participation of the women, and

Der Geburtsmantel besteht aus folgenden Theilen: Ein aus Segeltuch gefertigtes Tuch a

kehren zu den Händen der Kreifsenden zurück, wo sie in Griffen f enden; dazu kommt noch
ein breiter Gurt g, welcher unter dem Kreuz der Kreifsenden am Tuch mit Polsterung
herumgeführt und mit seinen beiden Enden an den Seilen d befestigt ist. Wenn nun die
sich mit den Füfsen an die Fufswand des Bettes stemmende Kreifsende während der Wehe an den Griffen der Seile zieht, so kann
sie das mit voller Kraft thun, ohne sich im Bett zu verschieben, da ja die zum Nackenkragen
gehenden Seile durch den Zug der Arme und die Nackenkraft gespannt werden und ihrerseits das Tuch in Spannung halten.
Das ist der erste Vortheil gegenüber dem bisher üblichen Zügel, welcher ein Verschieben
der Kreifsenden im Bett nicht verhinderte. Der zweite Vortheil ist der, dafs die Kreifsende
in der Lage ist, ihre Nackenkraft auszunutzen und dadurch den Körper so in ihre Gewalt zu
bekommen, wie es bis jetzt nicht möglich war. Der dritte Vorzug ist die Unterstützung des
Kreuzes durch den Polstergurt. Während nämlich die Seile in Spannung gerathen, werden
gleichzeitig die Enden des ■ Gurtes angezogen und die Kreifsende unterstützt sich
durch eine Componente der von ihr aufgewendeten Kraft selbständig im Kreuz. Für
die verschiedenen Gröfsen der Kreifsenden wird der Mantel durch eine einfache Oesenvorrichtung
