Description
Rotary drill bits The invention relates to rotary drill bits with rolling Cutting tools such as those used when drilling in rock, ore, coal, potash, etc. will. These bean bits are very often used for deep drilling for natural gas, Oil, water, etc. used.
The previously known rotary drill bits of this type consist of a drill body made of steel which is screwed onto the drill pipe. In the head of this drill body, toothed rotatable rollers made of wear-resistant material are attached. These rollers are either tapered or cylindrical in shape. The German patent specification 838 586 contains one form of such rotary drill bit. This patent specification also reveals the usual shape and type of toothing of the conical rollers. In one case, the rollers have cutting teeth attached to the circumference. In the other case, these cutting teeth are formed by inserted pins made of wear-resistant material. Furthermore, only the outer ring of the rollers consists of cutting teeth, and the other cutting elements are closed ring-shaped projections. The same drill bits in which the rollers are cylindrical are shown in German patent specification 725 920.
The operation of this rotary drill bit is that with itself while the drill body is rotating, roll the rollers on the bottom of the borehole. In this roll movement of the rollers on the bottom of the borehole, the cutting teeth penetrate the roller circumference Bottom of the borehole. The rock is loosened and smashed in this way and carried out of the borehole by either air or water flushing from the bottom of the borehole.
In order for the sharp cutting teeth to penetrate the bottom of the borehole, a constant pressure effect must be exerted on the rotary drill bit in the direction of the drilling progress. Depending on the hardness of the rock to be drilled, it is known that a very high constant pressure force is required in order to achieve satisfactory drilling progress. When drilling in earth formations, the compressive strength of which is often over 3000 kg / cm2, the compressive forces to be exerted on the rotary drill bit are extremely high. A wide variety of solutions have been tried (German patents 652 955, 671 458 and US Pat. No. 2 148 372) in order to make the parts of such rotary drill bits reasonably resistant to the high pressure effects. However, a satisfactory solution which ensures the economic use of such rotary drill bits has not yet been found.
In Abb. 1 bedeutet a einen Vorbohrer. The invention shown in the drawing shows a rotary drill bit in which these disadvantages are eliminated. Fig. 1 shows the front elevation and Fig. 2 the plan view of such a rotary drill bit. In Fig. 1 , a means a pilot drill. Subsequently to the pre-drill are z. B. three formed in a slender conical shape rollers b, which are equipped on the circumference with closed annular projections. The material of these rollers is wear-resistant. The rollers are rotatable at the upper and lower end each with a hardened steel ball k , but in a fixed and non-pivoting position. The rollers are inclined at a certain invariable angle to the main axis of the rotary drill bit. Here, these roles can consist of one piece, or they are formed from individual ring-shaped discs that are assembled into a whole role. The closed crown-shaped projections on the circumference of the rollers can also be interrupted from case to case in such a way that the projections are tooth-like, i.e. H. are designed as cutting teeth.
Figs. 3 to 5 should serve to explain the angular position of these rollers b. In Fig. 3 , the line cd represents the main axis of the rotary drill bit (see Fig. 1). To this main axis, the imaginary axis center er of the rollers b is initially inclined at a certain angle w from 0 to 250 , depending on the rock hardness to be drilled. In addition, the real axis center ef of the rollers according to Fig. 4 is inclined to the imaginary axis center dl 'by a further specific angle z from 0 to 251 , depending on the rock hardness. The additional inclination takes place either in the direction of rotation or against the direction of rotation of the entire rotary drill bit. A closer look at the central inclination of the rollers, namely at a certain angle of an imaginary central axis of the rollers to the main axis cd of the rotary drill bit and additionally at a certain angle from the real axis center to the imaginary axis center, shows that the closed, wreath-like projections on the roller circumference are in a certain inclined position to the main axis cd of the entire drill bit. The annular projections assume a thread-like position for the operation of the rotary drill bit, i. That is, when the entire rotary drill bit is rotated, the rollers screw themselves into the rock to be drilled. However, since the closed, ring-shaped projections themselves are not arranged helically on the circumference of the rollers, but as straight circumferential rings, the rock is broken out when the rotary drill bit rotates. Each individual rim of the rollers creates an outbreak in the rock that corresponds approximately to a depth with the dimension h as shown in Fig. 6. This depth h results from the position of the rollers and is created by the specific angular positions of the roller axis center to the axis center of the entire rotary drill bit, depending on the type and hardness of the rock to be drilled.
The above statements reveal the novel nature of the invention compared to the previously known designs of such rotary bean chisels. Depending on the type and hardness of the rock, the very high and, as is well known, very disadvantageous contact pressures in the direction of the drilling progress, which have so far been used when drilling with such rotary bits, are limited to a minimum. The structural difficulties in mounting the rollers to absorb the high compressive forces are eliminated. The known severe and disadvantageous wear of the rollers as a result of the previous high pressure loads is also significantly reduced. The rollers according to the invention practically pull the rotary drill bit into the rock by themselves.
An apparent solution of the same object represents the USA. Patent 1906 427th In a closer examination of the object of this patent and a comparison with the previously described invention, however, considerable disadvantages set out. Both from the description and the drawing it is clear to the USA. Patent 1906 427 in that the rollers are loosely pivotally arranged. Before the start of drilling, the rollers are shown in Fig. 5 to a starting point, d. H. the smallest diameter of the entire drilling tool. When drilling, the rollers should then pivot outwards according to FIG. 3 of the same patent specification and thus produce an enlargement of the borehole.
However, this is a solution that can only be used to a very limited extent in practice. It should be understood that the rolls from the position shown in FIG. 5 is not in the position according to FIG swing. 3 when a real span-making drilling in solid and hard earth formations to be guaranteed overall with the tool. In such earth forinations, the counterpressure of the solid borehole wall assumes such dimensions that the rollers do not pivot with the roller center 21 about the suspension point 13. The rollers will not leave their initial position according to Fig. 5. They will roll off the wall of the borehole as a result of friction. But there is not a sufficient component of force that presses the rollers on the lever arm 21-13 outward into a solid rock.
This statement should already show that the object of USA. Pat is fraught 1906 427 at a significant disadvantage. In addition, there is the following disadvantage, which consists in the fact that the rollers are not fixedly mounted in a predetermined angular position relative to the main axis of the entire rotary drill bit. As a result of the pivotability during drilling, the rollers can be adjusted to any angular position, the upper and lower limits of which are determined by the degree of mobility of the pivoting axis Roles are of crucial importance, since this alone ensures the breakout of the rock on the borehole wall and thus the required drilling performance. The unstable mounting of the rolls according to patent specification 1906 427 forms a further significant disadvantage in this regard, which is a really beneficial use of the rotary drill bit For the reasons mentioned, the use of such a rotary drill bit is also only possible in mild and soft earth formations, and it can only be used in such earth formations for small enlargements of the bores by fractions of centimeters in diameter.
In contrast, the present invention represents a rotary drill bit in which the rollers are fixedly and non-pivotably mounted at both ends. Depending on the angular position and conical shape of these rollers, the hardest and most solid earth formation can be drilled through. With a pre-drill a according to the drawing by z. B. 100 to 120 mm in diameter, a borehole up to 250 mm in diameter can be made in one go with the subject of the invention. Drill hole extensions downgrades will continue to be made between 100 and 200 mm diameter increase in the next course of in waste. In these cases, instead of the pilot drill a, a guide head is placed that fits into the previous hole. A drill head with the same rollers is used for the expansion, the only difference being that the number of rollers is increased or the dimension of the rollers is increased in accordance with the increase in diameter. The main advantage of the subject matter of the invention is that the drilling tool pulls itself into the borehole as a result of the specific position of the rollers when rotating and that the very high and, as is known, very disadvantageous contact pressures previously required in the known rotary drilling bits are substantially reduced. The angular positions of the rollers according to the invention are predetermined sizes from the outset depending on the hardness of the rock, which remain unchanged during drilling.
