Method for increasing the initial and permanent hardness of hardenable lead alloys According to the USA patent specification 2 189 064 a method for increasing the hardness of hardenable lead alloys is known, which consists on the one hand of cold forming and on the other hand of hardening at temperatures up to 250 ° C.
It has now been found that both the start and the duration hardness of curable Mg-containing alloys of lead can thus be substantially improved in that they are subjected immediately after the molding of artificial aging of short duration (maximum 2 hours) at temperatures up to 250 'C , whereby cold deformation is not required. This heat treatment increases the initial hardness so much that the lead alloys can be used for higher bearing loads just a few hours after casting. At the same time, the heat treatment results in a significant resistance to hardness, as the drop in hardness that occurs in these alloys after a while is largely prevented.
Legierungen entgegenwirkt. The treatment is carried out at temperatures which are between room temperature and 250 ° C. and which correspond in each case to the composition of the alloys. Even brief heating is sufficient to achieve a noticeable hardening effect. With suitable heat treatment, it is also possible to use the alloys for highly stressed bearings, e.g. B. Lokoinotivtreibstangenlager to make usable, the reinstallation must be done 3 hours after the repair. The temperature treatments lead to an increase in hardness, which, especially in the case of quenched bearing sprues, leads after a much shorter time beyond that which occurs during normal room temperature storage and thus counteracts the high initial wear of such alloys, which otherwise harden slowly.
anwendbar.According to the invention, low-Mg and Mg-free alloys, e.g. B. bearing alloys of the type of the web metal or the alloy MGS, are improved. These alloys, which are used as wagon axle bearings and for other purposes, can only be used for higher loads through the described thermal treatment.

At the same time, it was found that, in addition to the valuable improvement in mechanical properties described above, through the thermal aftertreatment, the corrosion resistance of Mg-containing lead alloys is surprisingly increased. Even brief heating after casting is sufficient to increase the corrosion resistance many times over. The uneven corrosion, which occurs in practice as a result of different solidification speeds, is also prevented, as can be seen from the alloys shown in Table 3. Number board 3
