Description
Process for refining liquid slag, in particular of Melting ash from melting chamber furnaces The invention relates to a method for refining liquid slag, especially ash melts, which in modern boiler firing (melting chamber firing) for brown or hard coal liquid with a temperature of about 1300 to 1400 ° C is obtained for use as an aggregate for the lightweight concrete industry.
It is known that the blast furnace slag produced in the smelting works thereby an economic recovery, that this slag through so-called swelling makes it porous and thereby the physical properties so far improved that they can be used to some extent as an aggregate for lightweight concrete building materials or can be used for insulation purposes. The swelling of the blast furnace slag since then is achieved in that the liquid at the blast furnace with a temperature of about 1400 ° C leaking slag is treated with water in special facilities. As a result of the high lime content, the slag becomes more or less porous. At the same time, the addition of water causes the swelling to act as a strong deterrent of the slag material, so that the individual expanded slag is partly strong in itself are torn. Because of this, the strengths of the expanded blast furnace slag are very low depending on the degree of flatulence. It can therefore when using this expanded blast furnace slag as aggregates for the lightweight concrete industry only building materials are produced with low strengths. Sometimes the strengths are sufficient of the building materials produced in this way are not sufficient to meet the DIN standards.
The utilization of the slag from the blast furnace works high-quality aggregates for the lightweight concrete industry is therefore very limited. The problem of the economic exploitation of the Slag melting, which in modern boilers with melting chamber firing in liquid Form. These have slag melts from brown or hard coal furnaces only small amounts of lime and react. when treating with water at all not. When the slag melts solidify, glass is formed.
The liquid that occurs in modern melting chamber firing systems Since then, slag has been quenched in a water trough, and the solidified slag particles are mechanically cleared. The result is a glassy granulate that through the deterrent in the water is torn in itself, has only low strengths and later disintegrates by devitrification. These granules can be used as an aggregate for Concrete or lightweight concrete purposes are not used.
The invention has therefore set itself the task of through a special Treatment of the freshly accumulating melt from the melting chamber firing one product to create the necessary aggregate for the lightweight concrete industry Has properties in terms of thermal insulation and strength.
The basic idea of the invention is, contrary to that since then customary treatment of the blast furnace slag with water recently in a dry way by adding small amounts of basalt lavatuff pores and crystallization to achieve the melt. A use of gas-forming minerals or chemicals creates a pore in the solidified slag melt, the glassy character the solidified melt and the later disintegration due to devitrification remain.
Extensive tests have shown that when adding small Quantities of basalt lavatuff into the liquid melt and stirring this mixture a porous, crystalline rock is created that is extraordinarily hard. This process can be explained by the fact that what is present in the Besaltlavatuff Silicate-bound water on the one hand promotes crystallization to a high degree. The latently bound water in the tuff creates strong pore formation causes.
The basalt lavatuff has a melting temperature of about 700 ° C. The Melt from the Schinelzkammerfeuerungen runs out at 1300 to 1400 ° C, so that the basalt lavatuff rises completely in the ashes. That way is the Possibility created without using water in a dry way Crystallization and achieve a simultaneous flatulence. Depending on the amount of the added Basalt lavatuffs can be used to control the porosity.
This process can be applied to almost all slag melts.
The method according to the invention can be exemplified by means of the following explain the cited embodiment: The one running out of the melting chamber firing Liquid slag is poured into conical tubs with granular basalt lavatuff being added collected. By means of an agitator whose agitator arms must be water-cooled in order to achieve a To prevent sticking of the melt, both substances are intimately mixed and thereby a uniform pore is achieved. According to the previous results of the experiments a surcharge of 5 to 10% / a of basalt lavatuff is sufficient to achieve the prescribed To achieve effects.
