Verfahren zur Trennung des Chlornatriums und Chlormagnesiums vom Kalium-MagnesiumsulfatProcess for separating sodium chloride and magnesium chlorine from potassium magnesium sulphate

im Kainit.in the kainite.

Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 5. August 1879 ab.Patented in the German Empire on August 5, 1879.

The kainite (K ' 1 SO 4 , MgSO ", MgCl' 2 , 6J7 2 O), which is extracted in the potash salt mines, is almost always accompanied by rock salt, the amount of which is about 30 pCt. A process suitable for factory operation Separation of sodium chloride from kainite is not known so far, and therefore processing of kainite into pure potassium salts has never been successfully carried out.

The principle of this method consists in the treatment of kainite with water or salt solutions at 120 to 150 0 C. under a steam pressure of 2 to 5 atmospheres. The kainite is used for this operation in pieces of any size; it breaks down into a fine crystalline powder of potassium magnesium sulphate, while chlorine magnesium dissolves. A salt solution, which is obtained by washing the excreted potassium magnesium sulphate and which contains salts of potassium, sodium and magnesium in any amount, is used to break it up.

One part of saline solution suffices, by 3 to 4 parts To convert kainite into a fine crystal flour. The rock salt is not changed by this operation, it remains in the natural state in larger or smaller pieces and can be separated very easily through a sieve. The separation by means of a sieve takes place in the moist conditions in the lye which served to open up. The coarse salt, which What remains in the sieve is almost pure sodium chloride, the fine salt consists of potassium sulfate and magnesium sulfate, it is washed with water and made into fertilizer salt or pure Potassium sulphate is further processed using known methods.
