bedeutet.Process for the preparation of boron alkyls and alkyldiboranes besides
highly active aluminum oxide subject of patent application Z 6326 IV b; 12 o is a
Process for the production of boron trialkyls in addition to highly active aluminum oxide
Implementation of trialkylboroxols with aluminum trialkyls and distilling off the formed
Boron trialkyls from the reaction product. The so-called boroxols are the trimeric ones
Anhydrides of the alkyl boric acids, and are obtained therefrom with the aid of aluminum trialkyls
of the general formula AIR., in which R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical
means or with mixtures of such aluminum trialkyls with different alkyl radicals,
Boron trialkyls in addition to a highly active aluminum oxide. The reaction proceeds according to the
general equation (RBO) 3 + 2A1 R3 = 3 B R3 -f- A1203 in which R is an alkyl radical
means.
unausgenutzt bleiben. Die erfindungsgemäße Reaktion verläuft nach der Gleichung
(RBO)3 -E- 2 A1HR2 = BR, + B,H,R4 = A1203 Sie entspricht somit der Reaktion des
Verfahrens der Hauptpatentanmeldung, wobei lediglich 2 Mol AIR, durch 2 Mol Al H
R2 und 2 Mol B R3 durch B2 H2 R4 ersetzt sind.It has now been found that instead of aluminum trialkyls, the
Reaction according to the invention also with aluminum dialkyl hydrides of the general formula
A1 H R2, in which R is alkyl radicals, can carry out, in addition to the active
Aluminum oxide and the boron trialkyls or alkyldiboranes of the formula B2 H2 R4 are formed
without any alkyl or hydride groups of the aluminum during the reaction
remain unused. The reaction according to the invention proceeds according to the equation
(RBO) 3 -E- 2 A1HR2 = BR, + B, H, R4 = A1203 It therefore corresponds to the reaction of the
Process of the main patent application, where only 2 moles of AIR, by 2 moles of Al H
R2 and 2 moles of B R3 are replaced by B2 H2 R4.
(Auflösung von Aluminiummetall in Aluminiumtrialkylen in Gegenwart von Wasserstoff;
The reaction of the process of the invention provides the process
the main patent application has certain advantages. Through the use of aluminum dialkyl hydrides
the general formula AIHR2 it is possible to use in technical manufacture
(Dissolution of aluminum metal in aluminum trialkyls in the presence of hydrogen;
see Belgian patent 546 432) aluminum dialkyl hydrides obtained as an intermediate
or mixtures of these with aluminum trialkyls directly to give the corresponding
Implement boron compounds. It is therefore not necessary to start with pure, i.e. H.
to produce hydride-free aluminum trialkyls from the aluminum dialkyl hydrides with olefins,
because the reaction with the boroxols takes place using all alkyl
and hydride groups of the aluminum compound used, which is not readily apparent
was expected.
So you need, for example, when using aluminum dialkyl hydrides
for the production of hydrogen boride compounds, which are known to be alkylated from
Boron compounds can easily be prepared by hydrogenation (cf. R. K ö s
t he: Angewandte Chemie, Vol. 69, p. 94 [1957]), overall less olefin. While
namely the gross reaction for the preparation of the boron trialkyls from aluminum trialkyls
after 2 Al -i- 3 H2 -f - B, 0, + 6 olefin = 2 BR, + A12 O3 runs, is when using
of dialkyl aluminum hydrides one third of the amount of olefins saved 2 A1 + 3 H2
+ B, 0, + 4 olefin = B2 H2 R4 + - A12 O3 This results in another advantage
of the process according to the invention when hydrogen boron compounds from the alkyldiboranes
should be produced.
Dabei setzt die Reaktion schon be
In Verdünnung erreicht man eine be sonders
gleichmäßige Reaktion. The reaction according to the invention can be carried out analogously to the process of the main patent
be carried out with or without a solvent. The reaction is already starting
Room temperature or below and is generally my by heating up to
about 200 ° C quantitatii finished. As a solvent come in addition to the saturated
aliphatic hydrocarbons and dex aromatic hydrocarbons
especially the boroalkyl (itself in question. In dilution one achieves a particularly
even response.
It is irrelevant for the execution of the method according to the invention,
whether the aluminum compounds are added to the Boroxol (diluted or undiluted
or vice versa the aluminum dialkylhydric
or a mixture of
this with aluminum trialkyl), and lets the boron compound flow in.

an etwa 1 Stunde insgesamt 228 (2 Mol) Aluminiumdi--propylhydrid ein. Dabei kommt
Beispiel 2 (iC4H,B0)3 + 2 AIH(iC,H9)2 = B(iC4H9)3
+ B,H2(iC,H8)4 + A1203 Bei gutem Rühren «-erden unter Stickstoff zu 145 g ner Mischung
aus Bortri-isobutyl (101,5 g) und i-Butyloroxol (43,5 g) mit 8,0% Bor (entsprechend
12,1 g [0,173 MoT] Bortrioxyd B203) insgesamt 49,7 g (0,35 Mol) Aluminiumdiisobutylhydrid
Example 1 2 AI H (C3 H7) 2 + (C3 H, BO) 3 = B (C3 H7) 3 + B2H2 (C3H7) 4 + A1203 A solution of 210 g (1 mol) is heated under nitrogen and with thorough stirring. n-Propylboroxol in 250 cm3> ortri-n-propyl to 150 to 160 ° C and add a total of 228 (2 mol) aluminum di-propyl hydride in the course of about 1 hour. At the beginning, the mixture boils heavily and gradually becomes heavier as a result of the precipitation of aluminum oxide: it can be broken down. Then all boron compounds are distilled off under reduced pressure: about 1 Torr) (temperature in the reaction vessel up to about 200 ° C.). The distillate obtained is 680 cm3 of a mixture of 310 g of ortri-n-propyl and 175 g of tetra-n-propyldiborane (about 2% of theory). The completely colorless, dry residue contains about 100 g of aluminum oxide and practically no more a as is developed when mixed with water. Example 2 (iC4H, B0) 3 + 2 AIH (iC, H9) 2 = B (iC4H9) 3 + B, H2 (iC, H8) 4 + A1203 With good stirring, earth under nitrogen to form 145 g of a mixture of boron tri -isobutyl (101.5 g) and i-butyloroxol (43.5 g) with 8.0% boron (corresponding to 12.1 g [0.173 MoT] boron trioxide B203) a total of 49.7 g (0.35 mol) aluminum diisobutyl hydride quickly added, the temperature of the mixture increasing from 20 to about 80 ° C. To complete the reaction, the mixture is heated to a gentle boil at about 180 ° C. for some time. The boron compounds are then distilled off under reduced pressure, the solid aluminum compound (25 g) gradually separating out. 166 g of a colorless liquid are obtained as the distillate; it consists of a mixture of boron tri-isobutyl and tetra-isobutyldiborane. The yield is 9411./, the theory.
