Bei den Maschinen zum Satiniren von Leder, welche dadurch wirken, dafs eine am freien Ende einer in senkrechter Ebene pendelnden Stange gelagerte Walze unter starkem Druck über die Oberfläche des Leders geführt wird, hat sich der Uebelstand bemerkbar gemacht, dafs die bearbeitete Fläche infolge der nicht immer gleichen Dicke des Leders an verschiedenen Stellen Drucke von ungleicher Stärke erleidet. Hierdurch wird nicht allein ein ungleichmäfsiges Strecken der Oberhaut und dadurch Wellenbildung auf derselben hervorgerufen, sondern es erhalten auch die stärker geprefsten bezw. von der Walze kräftiger gewalzten Stellen einen höheren Glanz als die weniger kräftig behandelten, so dafs das Aussehen und die Verwendbarkeit der fertigen Waare mehr oder weniger beeinträchtigt wird. Dazu kommt noch, dafs infolge des unmittel baren Angriffes der Walze auf die Ledernarbe bei der Umkehr der Schwingbewegung des Werkzeuges ein Schlag seitens der Walze auf die vorher von ihr berührte Lederstelle erfolgt, wodurch schwer wieder zu beseitigende Einpressungen hervorgerufen werden. Auch wird durch diesen Umstand die sorgfältigste Führung des Leders unter der Walze nöthig, und namentlich bei der Umkehr der Schwingbewegung der Walze dessen Dirigiren gegen die Angriffsstelle immer von der Mitte der Oberfläche aus erforderlich.
