The invention relates to a method for cooling flat glass and similar goods in continuous furnaces, using an axial air flow that runs counter to the conveying direction and is transverse to the conveying direction is circulated.
Known continuous furnaces for the heat treatment of Glass, ζ. B. flat glass, have a heating or a preheating zone, a temperature holding zone and a cooling zone. The length ratio of these zones to one another depends to a large extent on the respective purpose away; For example, in cooling ovens that work with a warm insert, the heating zone is in Relation to the cooling zone very short. The above-described continuous ovens are used to save energy operated in a known manner with devices for heat recovery by from the extension side of the furnace, a flow of cooling air is introduced in countercurrent to the conveying direction of the goods, the Cooling air in the cooling zone absorbs heat from the goods and this in turn in the preheating zone surrenders the goods.
It is also known that to intensify the heat transfer between material and air, the axial blown air flow through fans or baffles are circulated transversely to the axial direction can. Such ovens are for example for burning colors on glass or for cooling Known glass objects with smaller dimensions and low wall thickness. Curved for cooling Flat glass, especially glass with larger wall thicknesses and dimensions, was believed, however so far not to be able to use this method, since it was assumed that the circulating air caused a too sudden cooling and thus excessive temperature differences in the glass panels would be brought about. With glasses of this type it is necessary that to avoid tension during the whole During the cooling process, the temperature differences in the glass are kept as small as possible. Man has already used ovens in which the cooling zone is like this to achieve tension-free cooling is thermally insulated so that the most uniform possible release of heat from the glass occurs through the furnace wall. However, these known ovens are disadvantageous in that as a recovery of the heat is not possible. In addition, there are complicated additional devices such as e.g. adjustable air suction units, required in order to be able to manufacture larger glass panels without tension.
und ähnlichem GutIn contrast to the known method, the method according to the invention achieves stress-free glass cooling in that the speed of the air flow circulated transversely to the conveying direction is a multiple, at least the method for cooling flat glass
and similar goods

Tn der Zeichnung (Fig. 1 bis 3) ist ein Durchlaufofen zur Wärmebehandlung von Glastafcln in verschiedenen Ansichten dargestellt, bei dem das Ver-Tn the drawing (Fig. 1 to 3) is a continuous furnace for the heat treatment of glass sheets shown in different views, in which the

Entgegen der Strömungsrichtung wird das endlose Förderband 4 mitA fan 2 for the axial air flow 3 is arranged on the continuous furnace 1. Against the direction of flow is the endless conveyor belt 4 with
den auf den Unterlagen 5 liegenden Glastafeln 6 geführt. Das Gut durchläuft somit zunächst die Anwärmzone A, dann die Biegezone B und anschließend die Abkühlzone C. In den beiden Seitenwänden der Anwärmzone und der Abkühlzone sind ein oder meh-the glass panels 6 lying on the documents 5. The material therefore first passes through the heating zone A, then the bending zone B and then the cooling zone C. In the two side walls of the heating zone and the cooling zone are one or more
Wenn für den Axialluftstrom 3 beispielsweiserere fan 7 arranged, the air flow transversely to the conveying direction of the goods Äit a speed is circulated which is multiple, at least 15 times the speed of the axial air flow 3 amounts to. If for the axial air flow 3, for example
Durch die Abstimmung dieser verschiedenena speed of 0.2 m / sec and a speed for the cross air flow circulated by the fan 7 of 5 m / sec is selected, the speed ratio is 5 to 0.2, i.e. that 25 times. By matching these different
Air velocities to each other are achieved that the temperature differences within the glass panels are reduced to a minimum · and that practically no voltage differences in the glass and thus no glass breaks occur.
