Description
The invention relates to a hard core for armored projectiles with a tip in the shape of a rotational body, whose base area is smaller than the cross-sectional area of the core body, so that between the tip and Core body is a stage.
Such hard cores have already become known. The known hard cores usually have an ogival Experience has shown that points on and penetrate armor plates only when they are vertical or under one impinge on this relatively large angle. However, if the armor plate is at an angle to the direction of fire, so the core ricochets off her without any further effect.
On the other hand, armored bullets have become known that have a sharp edges, e.g. B. in the form of a stepped head, are equipped. These edges hook into the armor plate during an inclined impact and prevent it from ricocheting. The impact however, such projectiles are lower than that of projectiles in the event of a vertical impact with tips. It has also been shown that 'sharp outer edges on hard cores when angled impact easily repelled when the angle between a surface line of the core body and the horizontal Area of the step is 90 °.
The hard core according to the invention is now a combination of the known shapes with tip and with sharp edges, the disadvantages mentioned being eliminated.
According to the invention, the step merges with a conical surface into the jacket surface of the core body, and the height of the tip is at most 0.35 the diameter of the core body, the step being a known one has a sharp outer edge.
The height of the tip cone is important for the effect of the projectile core, than with an angled impact below a certain angle, first the sharp outer edge with the Armor plate should come into contact, but above this angle the bullet is pointed.
Es zeigenIn the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is shown in various embodiments. It demonstrate

Der Führungsring 5 aus weichem Eisen ist auf den Mantel 2 aufgepreßt.is pushed into the shell 2 from the rear of the projectile. The sealing plug 3 is in the jacket 2 screwed and presses the core 1 against a supported by a step 6 of the jacket, resilient, for example made of plastic disc 4. The guide ring 5 made of soft iron is on the jacket 2 pressed on.
The hard core of FIG. 2 is a made of one piece body of revolution of a cylindrical, forward conically tapering core body la and a coaxially mounted thereon circular cone 1 b as a peak exists. The base area of the tip is smaller than the cross-sectional area of the main body, so that a shoulder 12 is created which forms a sharp edge 13 with the outer surface of the main body. The conical bevel 16 gives the edge 13 increased strength when it hits armor plates at an angle. It has been shown that in the case of cores without a conical bevel 16, the edge 13 is easily repelled when it is hit at an angle, so that the core does not hook into the plate, but ricochets off. The angle α between the surface line of the main body la and the conical surface 16 is expediently chosen between 10 and 20 °. It has also been shown that the effect of this projectile core is best if the opening angle of the cone 1 b is between 80 and 100 °.
2, it differs from the projectile core of FIG. By a cut at a constant distance from the edge 13 in the lateral surface of the main body la wedge-shaped notch H 1 whose rear section 15 constitutes an extension of the lateral surface of the tip body 1 b.

Instead of a conical tip body, one with a curved or broken surface line, as shown by the core 1 in FIG. 1, can also be used. It is only essential that the height h of the tip body does not exceed 0.35 times the value of the diameter of the core, so that the edge 13 and not the tip penetrates the plate first when impacting an armored plate at an angle of less than about 50 °.
The projectile cores described act as follows: When the projectile containing a core 1 on a A solid target, for example an armor plate, strikes, the jacket 2 is more or less strong through this stopped while the core 1 penetrates the shell 2 and penetrates the armor plate.
Practical testing of projectile cores designed according to the invention has proven that this have an extraordinarily good penetration capacity at all angles of incidence down to 20 °. This result is due to the following operations. When the projectile cores hit under small ones Angles touched on an armor plate due to the relatively low height of the tip body first the outer edge 13 of the shoulder 12 the plate and hooks into it. This hooking becomes once the ricochet caused by an uprighting movement of the core around the which counteracts the deflection tendency hooked shoulder edge 13 avoided and thus enables the actual penetration of the same into the target. The shoulder 12 of the front end face of the main body becomes a result of penetration of the resistance that the plate opposes to the core penetrating into it, sheared, namely along a rearwardly directed fracture surface 14 which is the continuation of the shell of the main body attached tip body forms. The projectile core, whose conical tip is replaced by the Shearing off the shoulder 12 was extended backwards, then penetrates as a result of this new, favorable Tip shape easier through the plate, which explains its good penetration performance.
At large angles of incidence above 60 °, for example, the outer edge of the shoulder has no function, rather, the strong tip of the projectile core will hook into the plate and thereby the Prevent slipping. As the core penetrates further, the shoulder is sheared off, as described And so, thanks to the elongated, conical tip, the prerequisite for a good penetration of the armor plate created.
The notch 11 facilitates the shearing off of the shoulder and the course of the shear surface 14, the so that it becomes a predetermined breaking surface.
