Abstract
Flat cable (1) is made by drying polymer, plasticising it in an extruder, providing a constant volume stream, e.g. by a metering pump, and coating conductors (2) in a flat extrusion tool (9). The conductors (2) run in a vertical direction and the finished cable is cooled in a water bath (10). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Plant for making flat cables by extrusion coating at constant volume flow obtained from a metering pump; (2) Flat cable with conductors embedded in polyether sulfone, polyether imide, polyethylene naphthalate, polypropylene, including mixtures and derivatives.
