Abstract

Verbindungsmuffen (10) für Kabel verfügen über ein Gehäuse (16), das an gegenüberliegenden Stirnseiten Durchlässe (21) für Kabelenden aufweist. Diese Durchlässe (21) müssen insbesondere bei Seekabeln mit im Wasser verlegten Verbindungsmuffen (10) zuverlässig wasserdicht ausgebildet sein. Das geschieht bislang mit in den Bereichen der Durchlässe (21) durch Spritzgießen hergestellte Dichtungen. Solche Dichtungen sind zwar zuverlässig, aber aufwendig in der Herstellung. DOLLAR A Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, die Durchlässe (21) durch axial mechanisch vorgespannte Dichtmittel abzudichten. Solche federelastischen Dichtungen lassen sich einfach und gleichwohl zuverlässig herstellen, weil sie nicht durch Spritzgießen gebildet werden müssen. Die Dichtungen lassen auch Reparaturen des Kabels im Bereich der Verbindungsmuffe (10) zu, weil zur Demontage die Vorspannung beseitigt werden kann und nach Abschluss der Reparatur einfach wieder herstellbar ist.
